It's all been said before and will be said again. If it's not a coin with utility like Bitcoin and Ethereum, it's trash. Period.

OR choose a dapp you use a lot, then at least your coin can DO stuff.

The thing is, some people are searching for their luck by risking in new projects expecting that it could reach better than what top coins have achieved for years but I certainly agree that top coins will always be the best pick especially if you seek assurance. Some coins these days are just being hyped but still got no future so better be sure than sorry.

Yes, and as much as I'd like everyone to just crash and burn, every few times now and then I think we should also try and bring them back to the path of least pain

I do understand that people have to learn their own lessons too. I sure did and I'm sure many others did, they say that you have to lose your own money to understand or appreciate what it is all the hard work behind it.

Maybe if more people started doing this less people see the 'false promises'.

I’m fairly new to the crypto trading/buying realm. But what I’ve noticed is that lots of coins for a STUPID low price which are just trash. How DOGE is worth anything over $0.15 is beyond me. Either way, I purchased ~100m SHIB when it was somewhat lower, bout 3x on average what I put in (unrealized gains) but, with the amount in circulation (which I did not know until after the purchase) it’s quite clear that SHIB is unlikely to moon.

So what I’m getting at is, what is a stupid cheap yet promising asset I could look into. How do I find these new ICO’s or underperforming assets? When I see on Crypto com an asset that went up 60% in their gainers charts, I just wonder where these people getting their info to get in before hand and what moves the price.

While this is indeed temporary, I’m looking for stupid cheap but promising in long run, not necessarily moon this day and tank tomorrow

I certainly did, not only did I invested into things that went low and crashed so hard that they never recovered, but I also lost money in crypto companies as well, from cloud mining companies to exchanges to gambling to many other places.

So, I have to say that I learned my lessons the hard way, and now I am making a good profit, even though the price dropped a lot, my averages are still quite low and I am feeling fine about it. This required me to lose so much money, and because I didn't hold it, I ended up missing out on so much money as well. It requires a bit of time to become like this, I am sure eventually everyone will reach this level.

Easy answer bitcoin.  Definitely will 10x from here and won't go to zero.  Not going to get the stupid pumps as you would in complete crap coins but then again your downside risk is much lower.  Don't be alt heavy that's how you get wrecked in these markets.  Good luck whatever you decide.

Trashcoin are only good for faster earnings but that dosent happen often and you need to be really lucky to pick the right one.
I think the only safe investment and a smart one is Bitcoin. Maybe even ETH but i think that bitcoin is probobly the safest bet

You are only talking about meme coins (Doge, SHIB). Meme coins are not the best coins for investment, why don't you buy fundamental coins such as BTC, ETH, DOT, MATIC, BNB, or SOL? If you are a serious investor, you must choose safer coins for investment, don't risk your money on meme coins. Now, you need to change your assets to fundamental coins, better to forget and leave those meme coins.

If you no longer believe in cryptocurrencies, please get out of here, don't spread FUD here. Luna's demise has caused significant damage to the market but that doesn't mean the end of crypto. If you have invested in Luna then my condolences to you, if all your assets weren't Luna but bitcoins then I'm sure you wouldn't be as pessimistic as you are now. Just because you don't make money in the market doesn't mean others will be like you, you can't take the risk when investing in cryptocurrencies and don't expect to make a profit here.

I certainly did, not only did I invested into things that went low and crashed so hard that they never recovered, but I also lost money in crypto companies as well, from cloud mining companies to exchanges to gambling to many other places.

I only ever invested in two companies, one was a gambling one that I actually used for years, the other was a atomic wallet or whatever it was supposed to become. Both lost a lot of money for me too, the second one supposedly made some people still on this forum very rich and going on holiday, coming back and telling us we didn't lose money, a product was made, and reimbursed us some of our lost crypto (but they enjoyed a lot of it plus the forked stuff).  Anyway, old story, long story.

So you're right, two lessons. No shitcoins. No shitprojects. They're all shitprojects if they want your investment.

not really. people forget everything else when they see a project decline. after all, LUNA had enough flaws in its founder's strategy for this to happen. this also affects the price of crypto because they are a fairly large project. however, by some mistake they fell. i think it was a mistake that this bad thing happened.
however, do you remember when the bitcoin price was under $100? or ethereum, or BNB, those are the coins that are still holding a high price in this storm. Actually, we don't need to look for promising coins. with the three coins alone, it can be answered. however, people sometimes look for coins or projects that can give them quick and big profits, they just aren't ready to take the risks. other than that, crypto provides fairly fast profits, but we must understand the risks.

They only cite bad examples in the crypto market but ignore the movement pattern of bitcoin so far, but I also don't blame @kesmex that someone will be free to choose to invest in the real world or crypto, all who benefit then it's worth the investment.

Well I always say 'promising' is the same as 'potential' everything has it,,, even shitcoins have promise and potential.

Bitcoin and Ethereum are the ONLY coins with utility. As in, real utility to do real things not just NFT and Defi nonsense.

If you want to play with fire,,, play on with altcoins but know that you will get hurt because altcoins are always trash coins.

Do not buy any coins that you are afraid of holding, I mean if you can't hold a coin for 10 years or more, then why are you even buying it. I am not saying that you should hold it for that long, all I am saying is that it should be a fine idea to hold it for that long.

If you believe a project will be super high 10+ years later, but just end up finding something better, then I would totally understand it and that's fine, so selling is not the problem, you could sell and get out or maybe a new thing came out bad about it and you changed your mind, it's all fine. But, if you ever invest because you believe that you will profit in the short term but wouldn't trust it for 10+ years, do not buy it.
