This notification was 4 days ago, but I used the search engine to check if it has been posted on this forum, I got no notification, if anything as been posted about it, you can notify me for me to lock this thread.

The old Trezor browser interface Trezor Wallet will be deprecated on Monday January 31. It will no longer be accessible via wallet.trezor.io and visitors will be redirected to Trezor Suite, a more powerful interface for desktop and web.

Start using Trezor Suite today and take your hardware wallet to the next level!

Get Trezor Suite
If you’re already using Trezor Suite, you don’t need to do anything. We’d still love to hear your feedback, so send us a note about your experience using the in-app feedback button!

Switch to Trezor Suite
Making the switch is quick and easy. Just connect your Trezor and open Trezor Suite in your desktop or browser, as you prefer. You will see the exact same accounts and balances in Trezor Suite as you did in Trezor Wallet.

Trezor Suite Manuel

I believe everyone should have been using Trezor Suite by now, but if not, it is best to start using Trezor Suite if you are still using the old one.

Trezor suite is very interesting software, specially if you are using altcoins. It is a multicurrency wallet which works well.

However, if you are bitcoin no software is better than Electrum wallet.

For example, coin  control (which is a very important privacy feature for any bitcoin wallet) is missing in trezor suite.

https://github.com/trezor/trezor-suite/issues/2770

So, if you care about your privacy, you should be using Electrum wallet for bitcoin transactions.

It is good to know that Trezor browser wallet has been finally decommissioned because it has always been highly insecure and vulnerable to hacker attacks. In particular, Trezor wallet allowed users to enter sensitive information such as passphrases on a computer screen using a keyboard, which is a bad taste by itself since hardware wallet developers should always assume their wallet is used with a compromised computer that sends all the information directly to hackers. The only device which is supposed to be used for any sort of interaction with sensitive information is a hardware wallet that doesn't connect to the Internet.

I believe everyone should have been using Trezor Suite by now, but if not, it is best to start using Trezor Suite if you are still using the old one.

I prefer to use wallets that don't implement questionable protocols such as AOPP. Trezor developers are unfortunately very inconsistent in their decisions, so I would rather stick with other wallets such as Electrum or Wasabi. Though I like their hardware wallet.

I mentioned it on 31 January in the Trezor Suite- highly recommended thread that ChiBitCTy started last year. I didn't feel like the announcement needed a thread of its own, so I didn't make one. But now that you did, leave it be, no need to close it. Who knows what kind of discussion it can lead to.

Here is a quote of that post of mine:
Trezor has made a tweet announcing that the Trezor Suite will become the only officially-supported interface for Trezor hardware wallets from tomorrow 1 February. It's going to replace the Trezor Wallet app. They haven't given any info whether the old wallet app will still be accessible or not. For those who want to use the Trezor Suite from their Android phone, can do so via suite.trezor.io/web/.

Just finished checking that link and it seems that you can still access it [screenshot], so I did some digging and found the following information from their blog post:

I'm having mixed feelings about it, even though I've only used it once in the past year... I remember when both versions of Trezor Suite started acting up on my end, that wallet app was the only thing that actually worked for me at the time [I do know it's not the safest route]!

For example, coin  control (which is a very important privacy feature for any bitcoin wallet) is missing in trezor suite.
I think that coin control in Trezor Suite is in the roadmap along with CoinJoin, and for privacy they are using Tor protocol... that is something you don't have in electrum, unless you set it up in your operating system.
Electrum is always a good option, and using Wasabi wallet is good if you want to use Trezor with Tor, but without Trezor Suite.

I prefer to use wallets that don't implement questionable protocols such as AOPP.
They are removing support for AOPP thanks to huge complains from community including some people from this forum  Wink

[I do know it's not the safest route]!
With security in mind, no it's not safe. They have mentioned in the article you linked to that their developers are no longer maintaining the old wallet interface. Bugs and issues are no longer being fixed and any future vulnerabilities won't be handled either. Instead of giving users an option to use something outdated, and therefore risky, I think it's better to have everyone migrate to Trezor Suite than to be bombarded with questions and support inquiries about wallet.trezor.

Were the issues you were facing so severe that they were never fixed in Trezor Suite or do they work in the meantime?
I think someone mentioned that Trezor Suite doesn't support all the coins that the old wallet interface supported. Is this something they are working on to increase the number of supported assets?

There was one version of Trezor Suite that was quite buggy [can't recall which one exactly]... I got stuck in the bootloader mode and after that, it kept showing an empty wallet and that was when I used their web app to check if I've done something wrong or it was just a bug. I ended up downgrading the Trezor Suite version, so I'm not sure if Trezor released a fix for that particular issue [fortunately there was a workaround].

I think someone mentioned that Trezor Suite doesn't support all the coins that the old wallet interface supported. Is this something they are working on to increase the number of supported assets?
I never paid enough attention to that part until you brought it up and it looks like, it's actually the other way around...

  • The following coins are missing in their web wallet app:
    • Ethereum
    • Ethereum Classic
    • XRP

Correct me if wrong, electron can not store so erc20 tokens/coin or is not a milty chain wallet, I have been using trusth wallet all this while but will like to use electron since I can easily sign a message using electron wallet.

Are you talking about Electron wallet(BCH wallet) look at him he is talking about Electrum(Bitcoin wallet)?

Anyway, any of these wallets do not support ERC20 but if you are looking for a wallet that supports ERC20 I do recommend Metamask.

Forgive me if this question does not fit this topic, but why Electrum and not Wasabi?  Is Electrum not requesting information from the same node for every single address, ultimately making Coin Control only useful if the investigator has no knowledge about the node?  IIRC, Blockchain Analysis companies have infiltrated Electrum and under the right circumstances even Coin Control does not do enough for privacy anymore.

My current wallet of choice is Wasabi.  I am waiting for Trezor Suite to introduce Coin Control, Coin Join and other privacy features so I can give their wallet finally a chance.  Also, why is everyone hating on Trezor's Suite software?  You can use Trezor with a full node and not rely on their servers at all anymore, or does that still have a flaw behind the scenes that I am missing?

I agree with you that node information is important for privacy as well.

You can choose which node to connect to in Electrum wallet.

Coin control is more important than node information. If you mix up your addresses in the same transaction (spending from multiple addresses together) anyone can investigate you in the blockchain, no node information is needed.

They do not even have coin control, I doubt they will allow you to choose servers to connect anytime soon.

Since AOPP episode, where Trezor clearly showed no respect for user's privacy, things may change in trezor's privacy policy. Let's hope for the best, and they implement those basic privacy features.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you can run a local instance of Trezor's Blockbook and connect to your own server?  I have never tested it myself but I read their docs before and am confident you can get it running locally.  Unless Trezor lies to us, you can be fully independent from their servers this way.

If you can get Suite running independently through a local Blockbook instance plus Tor, Coin Control and Coin Join, you could get a level of privacy somewhere around Wasabi's plus the extra features like searching through the block explorer without actually sending requests to Blockchair, Blockchain or other public ones.
