On the 13th of November 2015, I was in my room listening to my small wireless radio, an advertisement came up on Crypto-Currency. it was something strange and as such, I gave my attention.

The public was invited to attend a Crypto-Currency trading seminar with a registration fee of #1,000 = $1.90 only.

The seminar was scheduled on the 14th of November, 2015 which was on Saturday in my locality. Been a novice on the currency, I wasn't for the first advert, but became interested when the marketer said, "You can use it to make more money (profit) online. was is buying Bitcoin in a cheaper rate and sell it at higher rate.

Immediately, I contacted the marketer through the phone number that was provided and he promised to reserve a seat for me at the venue.

The following day, which was on Saturday, I boarded a taxi to the seminar's venue.  And I dropped at the closest landmark to the venue and asked a passerby on how to locate the seminar's venue. When I entered the hall, they have already started, so I sat down, brought out my laptop and put it on.

I can't really recall all that was said in the seminar by the instructor at the moment except for a few.

He started with the concept of Crypto-Currency, Bitcoin and others. He said, before we do any trading on Crypto-Currency, we must open two accounts. One for the trading and the other for the Crypto - Wallet.

The first account is the trading account, on the platform of the trading account that was introduced, there are different countries' currencies which you can select from to fund and convert your currency to the Crypto equivalent of your choice. There is a calculator to help you out on the inter-face.

The Crypto-wallet account is where you can keep your bought coins or profit in coins from the trading.

Before you open any of this accounts, you must have a Gmail account and after opening  the Crypto - currency account, you must deposit a minimum of #5,000 = $9.2. paying the said amount to the instructor, then he would transfer the. ecosystem (Bitcoin) to your wallet to keep the account active.

I was not fully convinced, so, I only opened the two accounts and left. I was checking it regularly. After some times, I couldn't login again and I tried to open another accounts, and I could not as well.

I met one the colleagues at the seminar to sell Bitcoin to me and he refused, then I thought to myself that, if my funds/coins have been on the platform, I could have lost it all and being unable to buy, all came together to make me loose interest.

Now, Bitcoin has surged so high and I am trying so hard to build my interest. This is one of the reasons I signed up open an account on Bitcointalk. So, I can learn and upgrade my Crypto Knowledge.

Sincerely, it has not been very easy with me.

The seminar was probably a scam campaign as anyone who actually understands bitcoin would not need to create an account for others to hodl, and definitely would not need an email address.
I can assume if your introduction to bitcoin was different you could have had a very different past 7 years (from 2015). But it is never too late to get into bitcoin and locating this forum is one way to do it right as there is so much information on here that is useful to bitcoin enthusiasts.

OP your interest in bitcoin is profit. If you’re searching for financial advice, the answer is going to be the same. This is a bitcoin forum, it is expected that we are bullish on bitcoin. You were smart enough not to fall for that scam. Newbies are victimized everyday. Since you’re interested in learning more about crypto I will recommend some threads you can read Beginners & Help Encyclopedia . Everything you need to know can be found from investing, bitcoin wallets, lightning network and so on. It’s the whole package so try and read it.

Not really profit but was looking for something that would made me busy and make earning, and that eager made me to be scammed a lot of time before I finally found Bitcoin talk. I have been scammed more than 20 times.

Mostly from 2015 to 2021 in the hands of money doublers.

Yes really if I would have gotten a good financial adviser since by then, I would have made it by now.

I have been scammed more than 20 times.
Thats a lot of encounter dude. I think for thr first three you should have learn your lesson. How come did you scam btw for the 20x I cant imagine your frustration for that. Sorry, but you must really learn this time cause the number you had been scammed isnt funny and its really frustrating.

Knowledge will make you free, and I have to say that you have landed in the right place to gain it, by the way. I suppose that the 20 scams were little and different so you kept falling in them. But the more you know about BTC, about how blockchain works, and about security, the more difficult it will be for you to fall again.

In the past it was new term for all of us and it also got the attention of scammers to make people fool like this seminar you are talking about and with minimal amount also tried to scam those who attended the seminar.Instead of this if you have invested some amount in it directly and have safely secured your coins then you would have got much profits out of this but still we make mistakes.

It sucks to meet dubious people at the first journey of something new, this can easily discourage anyone, there is no greater achievements without some failures and disappointments just accept this as a lesson, now take learning as your real master, avoid running to anyone to learn, atleast you find your way to bitcointalk and that my friend is a good start.

I hope that your interest in the crypto world can bring you profit and luck here. The people who came first joined the crypto world are lucky and patient people where the fruit of that patience is now the price of Bitcoin and other crypto soaring up from the first the price was still small. but apart from that, we need to be careful here with the fraud mode because here there are lots of fraud modes with attractive offers. although here we can get a big profit but to get it is not as easy as just handing our money to someone else and then getting a profit. Don't be fooled by such a scam.

Yes..but how can someone identify a dubious person.. because they always appear as saints to the victims.

Most times they even spend money all for you to believe that they are really.

If you still trust Bitcoin, and I suppose that you do, then get back in it for real and start investing.  Coming to this forum is a good start, I have lurked it for a long time before joining.  Most of us have to learn the hard way at least once.  Bitcoin has surged but with so many losing trust in Fiat, Bitcoin as a deflationary Cryptocurrency will probably not fail to succeed again.

Do you think anyone would have believed back in 2015 if you told them Bitcoin gets to $60,000 in 2021?  Everyone would have said you are going nuts.  There is so much more room for growth still.

Invest a small amount every week or every month.  Do you typically go out in the city for a dinner?  Try going out one less time per month and save that money for investing in Bitcoin.  It is never too late, particularly if you trust your choices.

Yes really if I would have gotten a good financial adviser since by then, I would have made it by now.

And I need your encouragement by teaching me and direct, guide and counsel me in this forum.

I'm not sure if somebody would take the extra mile to be your personal financial adviser here. I doubt somebody would step forward to personally teach, direct, guide, and counsel you.

That isn't necessary either, especially because all the resources that you need could be found online. Moreover, discussions here are open for everybody to read and join. You could ask questions, relevant ones, of course.

If you are really interested, you will exert effort, do research on your own. You cannot blame the fact that you don't have a good financial adviser or somebody who teaches, directs, guides, and counsels you. You cannot blame anybody else for falling victim to double-your-money and other scams more than 20 times.

Most, if not all, of the users here who would give you the best advice probably gained their Bitcoin knowledge and wisdom by way of DIY.

It is sad to see that bitcoin has been (and still is) being introduced to people as something they should trade to make profit and worst is that it is introduced as a part of the whole cryptocurrency scene including altcoins which are actually only for trading!

Interesting enough I was introduced to bitcoin back in 2012 or 2013 but back then they told me it is something you trade so I didn't give a crap about bitcoin and ignored it until 2014 when someone introduced me to bitcoin as the decentralized censorship resistant currency so I was hooked right away.

Most probably it was a scam and lots of people got scammed by them? In 2015, even if bitcoin wasn't as popular, it kind of did have a presence though, and as others have mentioned, one won't need initial funds to deposit for creating "a bitcoin wallet". maybe they opened an exchange wallet on their platform for which they charged? It sounds kind of fishy to me about them however, like they are charging money for something which can be done for free! Sorry for your first encounter which was negative, hopefully you will be able to cope up with the situation and see positive sides of crypto too Grin

Society cares about making money and becoming rich to afford Vuitton clothing and expensive cars.  The amount of people like you, interested in something truly innovative is too small and had Bitcoin's price never exploded, I have doubts it would have had this level of success.

On the other hand, if that was the case then Bitcoin Talk would have looked similar to the way it did back in 2011.  Is that good or bad, I do not know.  Sometimes I think it would have been better if that was the case, because it seemed that most of the forum was filled with users who had an actual interest in the technology Bitcoin and Blockchain brought.

Still, even today I believe Bitcoin will only have as much success as it did long as it is being marketed as a high APY rate asset.  This is what most of its users are here for.  Nobody will care about your censorship resistant coin.  Debit card usage seemed to be on an uphill in the last decade.  So if humans choose comfortable wireless cards over cash, do we expect them to build interest in a censorship resistant Cryptocurrency?
