With ever changing era due to current pandemic situation we see restrictions on various functions and rituals on day to day basis. Indian marriages which are usually done by gathering 500 to 2000 people at one place in Banquet halls has taken big turn due to pandemic as the government has plotted strict rule of gathering and marriage to be done only in the presence of 20-50 people now to stop the spread of COVID.

However, one couple taken it even further and made their marriage official by putting the registered court marriage documents and details on the BLOCKCHAIN.

Furthermore, they have launched their own NFT in OpenSea by putting their marriage ring imprinted with names on it.

I think this is something cool and might be categorised as Digital Marriage.

Plus the wedding was held on Google meet.

Okay, now that is cool.
But then again, it begs the question, what happens when they want a divorce? I'm not saying they'll eventually get there but that happens sometimes although I'm not entirely sure if divorce is allowed in that country.
I guess they could just send the NFTs to a burn address and be done with it.

They will now have sex of facebook and give birth to a digital baby through whatsapp. I mean this is where it is going! Absolute nonsense is happening in the name of metaverse and NFT which simply doesn't make sense!

But it's good for the couple as they have done something unique which has given them popularity and also made some money out of their wedding. Except this, the entire course of events don't make sense!

As far as I know, marriage is something very sacred. Despite the silliness made by these two couples, maybe they are making a trend that is not common to most people. It doesn't matter if the blockchain world can make them compose a story that is quite unique. I'm just curious after doing the wedding ritual whether they make out on Google meet?

Let them get creative with their NFT sales on OpenSea.

Well I find it a bit cringey but its still a great application of the trustlessness of smart-contracts.

The registration of marriages happens in local registrar offices where the couple need to visit on a day along with their relatives, ID proofs, Marriage invitations etc etc. The "Registrar" makes you fill certain forms, records the information and then gives a document under his seal declaring both people as married.

The marriage certificate is an important document but it hardly needs this intermediary when two people are willingly going into the contract by signing it with their wallets and recording it on the blockchain. That should be enough proof. The minted NFT would still need to have some sort of "functionality" to be over-written in case of disagreements, separation or an eventual divorce (send the NFT to a burn address).\

On top of that, the couple don't have to share there IDs and photographs but instead have a 1-of-2 multisig whereby any of the two can prove ownership. Its not a half-bad idea, TBH.
