Recently, I have taken a step to create awareness about cryptocurrency among the people I know (Friends, cousin etc.). There are few books on cryptocurrency in Bengali language. I haven’t read all as the title was stupid. I have read one by Mostafa Tanim, "Bitcoin: Blockchain and Other cryptocurrency". I have gifted two times so far, one to my cousin and another one to my friend. What I'm doing is ordering the book online directly to their address though rokomari.
This is what I think the best approach to send a message that they should learn about it. Share your opinion/experience with such activities.

most peoples first question is, is it a real currency?, like real in the real world?

best proof i gave was ordering pizza with bitcoin. when it arrived we then chatted about bitcoin. by the time we were finished then they were ready to learn about the technicals of it

throwing them in the deep end about the technicals first will just bore them and have them asking questions about is it actually useful in the real world and should they even bother reading something about something they have not yet used, seen or dealt with.

maybe look into local merchants/retailers that accept bitcoin in their local town. and along with the book send them invitation to make a btc address and you will send them enough for a coffee, pizza, doughnut or cake at the local store to buy.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Most important question is, do they have an interest in bitcoin the same as you? If yes, there is nothing wrong with whatever approach you will do and besides, they are your relatives and they understand you more than anyone if they witnessed your success using this bitcoin. But if they are not into bitcoin, I doubt if they appreciate that idea.

Be very careful about how you introduce people to Bitcoin. If the book is of poor quality, there's a risk that it will set them on the wrong path, like investing in shitcoins, DeFi, NFT, using custodial wallets, maybe even investing in fake bitcoins like BSV or BCH. Why not gift them something like "Mastering Bitcoin" by Andreas Antonopoulos which has very positive reviews from a lot of people?

Little Mouse said they have read the book and ideally anyone should personally try out any tool they plan to use to introduce someone else to a new technology such as bitcoin. In addition to this you should always be as realistic as possible; I could be very optimistic about the bitcoin market, but I will not want to show that optimism when discussing it with someone else, I will rather discuss the positives and drawbacks of the technology, giving you enough information to make an informed decision.

Since the main idea was to spread awareness about cryptocurrency among his circle, I guess its safe to assume they don't have much interest in cryptocurrency or maybe not at all. In my opinion theres nothing wrong with doing such a thing, they could build their interest in bitcoin and friends while reading the book later.

It's actually a very good idea to give a bitcoin book as a gift, the problem is how much basic interest in reading it the people who want to be gifted also need to know beforehand. In my environment, books are no longer a fun source of learning, instead the internet is more accessible. I mean here about adults, I haven't found anyone who likes to read around me in a long time. Even school-age children have less interest in reading their textbooks even though they have free time.

My sister is reading Nathaniel Popper's book Digital Gold. She has no interest in cryptocurrencies, but the book is about the early history of Bitcoin and she is enjoying the drama.

I hope your cousins are readers so your gift don't find itself under the box. Books are great gift items, even better are books about bitcoins and cryptocurrency. It's a thoughtful gift, i pray they see the value in it. You know some may find books boring as gift items, i think you can spice up book gift items with some food and wine, everyone likes that too.

Not a bad action and any thing which do connects out with exposure and recognition is always  considered a good step no matter which way you would be doing
it which it would always count  and impressive. So far i havent done it on my own on people around me but its not bad on having this consideration but it
would be only good if they would somewhat approach me for that but totally opening it and trying out to tell them even if they didnt need
it then its not my style.

Are they book readers? Good for them if they are since most people nowadays has a shorter attention span and that's maybe due to the influence of social media.

I often start with some short youtube videos. The result is usually less of what I expect since most of them prefer to ask "how do I make money?" or "how do I start investing?".

Hi,...
I have given good books to some people I know well, I would not give a book to a brother for example about parenting or finances, he can  take (idea) it the wrong way, I think a book is something very personal, as a teacher used to say, give a book to a person and that it is not the correct one is like giving mouthwash or deodorant for the armpits, perfume, that you are doing it for a simple gesture of friendship, but that can confuse in several cases.

If someone you know is interested in bitcoin, leave it,  it's there, it's visible (there's talk about bitcoin, there are transactions, there's an exchanges, there's news...) it's not hidden science.

I would never give a book about bitcoin to anyone, it's throwing money in the trash, nor do they read it, unless he or she has a real interest, 100% sure that he will not put it on his shelf, today we were casually at the local board talking about documentaries of bitcoin, we are in an innovative era full of streaming, quality audio visual content available, that works best for me.

...good luck with that anyway.

If they are book lovers, then they are easy to approach with books and I'm sure they will appreciate it when you give it to them as a reference and answers to their questions about bitcoins. There are lots of people who love reading until today because they find it so relaxing and calm while adding some knowledge to their brain. Maybe some of them already heard about it from others but have a lack of information about the fundamentals of bitcoins and you give them those books that have the answers to satisfy them.

As far as I observe, people don't know things by reading about them in books. To somebody who does not know about Bitcoin, I think it is a bit too much to read an entire book about it. One reads a book about Bitcoin if Bitcoin has already got him interested. So there must be a brief yet meaningful introduction about Bitcoin. Perhaps a short video or article on what Bitcoin is or the whitepaper itself might be enough to trigger more interest and leads one to look for books.

How did your friend and relative find the book that you gave? Did they read them with excitement?

Giving a book about bitcoin as a gift to others is a good idea but that will depend on they like to read a book or they will not read that book.
If they finally read that book, they will usually ask you for more questions and ask about many things such as is that true? How we can convert bitcoin to fiat and many more.
But only a few of them read a book to get more information while others will search on the internet or come to you to discuss further.
But that is still a good thing for them because you give them a chance to know and learn something that might be useful and worth it for you.

Suggestion, Don't start introducing Bitcoin with a lot of technicalities. Its much better to gift them something they will see or physical like Physical coins, Bitbills and other Bitcoin collectibles so that they can easily appreciate that will lead them to have a curiosity to learn more about Bitcoin and its technical aspect. Your friend will just be bored due to the overwhelmed terms and technicality on how blockchain works. Let them DYOR it so that they will really appreciate Bitcoin.

Not all people are ready to read books.
Not all people are open-minded to adopt new concept, new technology.
Not all people are easily to accept Bitcoin as a game changer in this world.

Sooner or later, they will accept it and use Bitcoin very often. If they won't accept Bitcoin, they will be killed by inflated fiat currencies.

Purchasing power of the US. dollar over time. Send them this article and enlighten them about fiat currencies as well as how easily they can be printed more.

I also wanted to share books to some of my friends and family members but not all of them are Bookworm in which they may not give attention reading those books , that is why i mostly send them videos or links for them to directly watch and understand than giving books.
but yeah you did a great job mate because books is a lifetime gift that they may take for the rest of their life and can be shared to their next generation .

First of they should be reader and enthusiasts in taking time to do so. Many of them are so involved in the social networking that they have forgotten to read the real books by getting comfortable in the chair.

Today’s generation is all about quick learning’s. Go online search the topic and get quick answers from the online repository. They will sometimes just throw questions in quora, Reddit and forums.

I am not really sure what would be their impression regarding the physical book really.

Though it seems bright idea, it just don’t fit in for current generation.

In no way I’m taking this negatively, the tone feels in that way but it’s all about the facts of today’s generation.  Grin

It'd probably be that I'd recommend books in the first place to people who actually like to read, and honestly, they're rather rare. Most people nowadays have quite short attention spans, especially on a completely new topic, and a rather complicated one (from the outside) like Bitcoin (or crypto in general). I had a few experiences with my friend first but that was because they were rather interested in it, they were asking stuff about what it is, how it works, and mainly how to earn money from it (which is their main motivation I think).
