What wrong with Bitcointalk?

A lot of times I see problems like this. Especially when too much of users start posting on the forum together. like when bounty manager Bounty Detective post a campaign then many bounty hunters start POA posting together. And then there is such an effect on the whole forum. I could not login my account for this problem yesterday. And I've heard it happened to a few more people. what wrong with Bitcointalk?  it is happen for low configuration hosting server? Or is this the problem with my smartphone?

Based on my experience this only appears when I try to refresh multiple Bitcointalk tabs within just a few seconds. Basically pretty much when you try to query Bitcointalk a lot more times than a "normal" user would. It's just a DDoS protection thingy as for some reason some people want to bring down Bitcointalk's servers.

Can you tell us why you conclude such statement, did you just try it by yourself? - the posting of POA together? or what?

I don't know if it's the same to others, but I will always choose to check the "login forever" thing  when logging in due to lots of reasons including the captcha and not to logging in again.

Have you check it on isitdownrightnow.com that time it appears? What it shows? if it was then its just temporary. I don't say this site's server is weak or what, coz if it is, we will experience more downtime that what you could have experienced.

That has never happened to me. I have never seen that image. Therefore, I'm inclined to think it's something the OP does rather than a problem with the forum.

I remember when my broswer can load more than 30 or more pages all together, it loads all opened tabs at onces, that was when I was getting this error, but after some upgrade to the browser, it will open the tabs but it will not load the tabs opened, only what was loaded previously will be opened until you click on it and reload it yourself and I am not getting the error again. I am certain that this is what caused it, loading of many tabs at once in just seconds.

No. In my experience, it has nothing to do with a weak server, as you say. If that were the case, we'd all be getting 500 Internal Server Errors.
This is simply the result of a server's DDoS protection that kicks in when there are too many inbound requests in a very short time frame.

I have personally also not encountered with this sort of problems or especially this 503 error related to overload because at current also there are many tabs opened up in my system and forum is working absolutely fine on my end.If the forum could not handle such large amount of traffic then server would have crashed on everyone's end but that's not happening at all so it's your browser or ISP problems so check it once again or try reloading it few times.

There was one such thread few days back when there was http 500 server error which was not loading the forum on users end which is some common error that users have faced but this particular one is new to me.

Nothing more than Friday, at least that's what some past experiences say :

I see that type of message rather often on Fridays (thrice in a morning would be a sweet deal), since that is when I access the forum whilst retrieving forum profiles from my Alt Account. It makes Fridays pretty difficult to interact with the Forum for me until my data processes complete their task.

In case a VPN or Tor is used one should try to change the new IP address or the new Tor circuit. The discussion on this topic already existed, and it can be read on the quote link.

Yep, that was a self-created Friday situation on my end, which I resolved by setting a more lengthy scraping interval by adding a few additional fractions of a second between queries, thus essentially avoiding seeing the 503 error since then. Normally these processes of a few more forum members and mine, should not affect the generality (or else we’d have already be asked to stop doing it).

Since the 503 error is not reiterative for all forum members, it’s not a DDoS attack. Being the reported case on a smartphone, I’m not sure what the OP can try other that reboot, use/don’t use a home wifi, use/don’t use a vpn; all in an attempt to narrow down the possible root cause.

I've had this message in the past, before I added a "delay" between scraping pages. The first 10-20 pages are usually without problems, but after that the server starts rate limiting your IP to reduce server load. This has nothing to do with other forum users, unless they share the same IP address.

In my house I use my Broadband connection alone. But I don't know how many people in my city use this forum using the same company broadband connection. Maybe your idea is true that using this forum with using the same company broadband connection is showing this problem. Thanks for sharing your feedback

That can only be the cause if you share your IP-address with others. Assuming your own broadband connection has it's own IP, only your own actions should influence your rate limiting. And for just normal browsing it shouldn't happen at all.

This should not happen unless you are opening / reloading a lot of tabs together and refreshing bitcointalk pages many times simultaneously.
The more concerning thing is that you have written that you face this problem often. Try to open only a single bitcointalk page at a time and see if the situation improves ?  Did changing the internet connection helps ? (connect your pc with mobile hotspot if you do not have extra internet connection)

Ah, I don't feel so crazy now that I know at least one other person has that picture saved on his computer!  I missed this thread when it started, but I'm glad I found it now.  That's a snapshot of a stereotypical bounty farm if anyone's wondering.

Also, I've run into messages like the one OP posted here (though not very often).  There are probably a lot of things that could be improved upon as far as the site's functionality goes, and if you've ever tried searching for anything too quickly you'll see another example of things getting overloaded where they shouldn't.

Have you got a lot of neighbors participating in bounties or signature campaigns?  Just wondering, because I know I've heard stories of entire villages supporting themselves on the proceeds of bitcointalk.  I don't know what's true and what's just a fable, but it stands to reason that with the money that can be made through them that they'd be extraordinarily popular in areas of the world where, say, 10k sats goes a long way toward paying the rent.
