When you are into cloud mining, chances of getting scammed are very high. About 99% of them are scams or Ponzi schemes that pretend to pay at first only for them to exit-scam with the rest of your money.

I would rather suggest you use that little money you have to buy Bitcoin (Of-course when the price has dipped enough) and the wait for a couple of years to realize some awesome returns that you can old dream of when using the fake cloud mining site.

You shoud be better buying your own hardware equipments to mine cryptocurrency of your choice as most of the companies claiming that they are doing cloud mining services are mostly Ponzi schemes^[1].

- Mining altcoins and exchanging it for bitcoin
- Dollar cost average (DCA) bitcoin
- Investing ASIC miners

Are some of the alternatives that I can think of.

The terms "legit" "free" and "cloud mining" do not work together. When it is cloud mining, it is going to be paid and it is going to be a scam. All cloud mining sites run a MLM scheme where the new investors money is used to pay the old investors. You can invest in them and you are early in the rat-race you may be able to make some money off someone else's earned money while they suffer, but know this that in any MLM the real winner is the owner who is running the scam and the affiliate marketers.

You may be looking for staking which is also another worthless topic to discuss because it gives no real gain in value.

If you want to mine, buy yourself the devices and start mining. It is not worth today to mine if you mining with a small number of rigs for bitcoin, but you might get an edge with other altcoins. Again that becomes another rat race to change the type of coin being mined based on the market.

You only risking your time and Money for this , you should have known what cloud mining brings to majority of investors in the past by reading all the post above you,
that proves one thing, that cloud mining is literally a scam .
so Yes best to let your effort go to deserving investment and that is Bitcoin of course or some good altcoins.

He can risk his time but not money as he only looks for free version of cloud mining and not the paid one's but if there are scam paid cloud mining sites how much more if it is free? But, most of the scam cloud mining sites are promise to give btc and eth returns or any other older cryptos which are harder to mine right now.

This makes them unbelievable but for the newer projects I think there are still legit left because they are not harder to mine. The term mining or cloud mining can be a scam not because they wont pay you but because the process was not really a true mining. They only put images related to mining for people to think that they are really mining.

I'm not sure if this counts since I don't have wide knowledge about cloud mining. I don't think you can't find a free cloud mining 100% of them is a scam since in reality no one will let you cloud mine for free it is like giving you money or they will let you use their mining hardware for free which is impossible if you are looking to rent hardware or buy hash you can visit.

A cloud mining service that is claimed to be free will probably ask for a deposit whenever the user requests a withdrawal. There have been many services that scammed people in this way.
They show you a number as amount of bitcoin you have mined so far and set a minimum withdrawal amount. Once you reach the minimum amount and request a withdrawal, they say that you must deposit bitcoin for paying the withdrawal fee.

You should not try cloud mining because that will only get scams from the site. The cloud mining era is gone, and if you see any offers to mine like that, it's better to forget about them and not try even if they say they are legit. Better use your money to invest in crypto by buying bitcoins and altcoins and holding them or trading for profit. By doing so, your chances of making a profit are much better than cloud mining.

How long has the project been on the market?
How many people are working on the project?
How much mining dividend has the project paid so far?
Etc.

Taking a good look, means what? Going to the mining farm? You may or may not be able to confirm the existence of such mining farms and datacenters. That does not mean that the mining operation is legit. The only legit form of mining is mining on your own. There have been projects that has raised money through ICOs in order to include token holders in the investment scheme like Ice Rock Mining, Ambit Mining, Envion and many more. Each one of them has ended up as a failure. Ambit disappeared without a trace, IRM team has gone AWOL without dividends, Envion founders are fighting a court case for 2+ years against a hostile takeover.

How long has the project been on the market?

Genesis mining was there was years. The evidence for it being an MLM is much more now.

How many people are working on the project?

You will never get an answer to this question as an investor.

How much mining dividend has the project paid so far?

When a ponzi runs, they spend the new investors money to pay the old investors, so for the investors coming in they are getting dividends, did that mean that the project is legitimate? No. Therefore giving dividends is not equal to legitimacy.

You can find those things in investor based game section if you look for that type of investment option in this forum and this is not recommended already for such a long time since all of cloudmining platform are all scams. So there:s no really needed to do deep research about them and ask all those question since there's no legitimate on them and better mark it is so that we will not fall on cloud mining scams.

Other options are more better than investing on cloud mining since we might get good returns on choosing other option like trading or investing on selected NFT's.
