I don't understand why you advise her to purchase a VPN, while she found a way to avoid using one in her country.

Opting to bypass the system of a casino by doing such could cost you so much trouble in the future. They have banned your country's access for a reason. Maybe they have a conflict in license and the likes. We don't know for sure the reason why, but it is banned because it is not legally accepted because of lack of certain standards, requirements, and maybe restrictions of the country itself on gambling. Promoting usage of VPNs and things like these to access what's restricted could be a ticking bomb waiting to explode. Remember, the IPs used are determined by the system and once they detected unusual and against their terms of service and policies, they can suspend your account. Or even worse, they can ban it. And when it's proven that you've done activities that go against their policies, they could give a sanction in accordance to the grievance such as prohibiting to access and even withdraw your funds.

Now, if you know it to yourself that you aren't a pro in bypassing a system, do not take the risk of getting involved and getting caught later on. Save yourself from trouble and just abide by your country's law and restrictions. And maybe try to find other casinos in par with your preferred one to be your alternative.

I agree with you, moreover using VPN could slow your connexion a lot and even cutting it sometimes, it's not the best conditions for gambling.
Of course sportsbet allows users to change their DNS, everybody is free to use the one it likes the most. And afaik cloudfare (1.1.1.1) is one of the most used DNS in the world along with the Google one (8.8.8.8).

Well said. As much as this thread has given us information about another bypass methods, it is not advisable to bluntly to do it. I think that everyone should be cautious of deciding whether bypassing is the best option they got. And further to that, the possible repercussions should also be assessed, and such are worth the risk of trying this or other methods out there. It is much easier if you are going to read their terms and conditions about VPN and if you are unsure I think you can contact their support or representative and directly ask if you can use VPN since I think the one you are doing is risky and if they allow it then use VPN if not then don't force yourself it will only harm you.

If the VPN is not allowed and you are living in a country where in the gambling site is not allowed too. Nevertheless, I guess you must not visit a website to which your govt is restricting access. Binance requires KYC; I guess you won't be even able to verify yourself there. That would be of no benefit for you since you won't be ab;e tp access the site from your country. On the other hand, if I'm correct, gambling site allows you to access through VPN most of the time; in case, you want to access without a VPN, ask them to share a different version of the website if they are available. If you can afford to gamble, you can afford to use a paid VPN setup that will give you much better protection and be safer than using any free services. There are plenty of VPN providers out there which will give you a US based proxy for either fiat or crypto, so there is no excuse not to use them. You can use the proxy settings that you'll find on your browser instead of changing the DNS like this. However, you need to be extremely careful if you end up needing this sort of setup, because you fit the profile of someone who might abuse a casino (changing IP's, trying to hide, maybe taking advantage of offers) and will most likely be breaking the terms of service for that reason - leaving you vulnerable to getting banned and losing any funds in your account. This is even less likely to work at places like exchanges which have strict KYC compliance processes these days.

I'd rather stay it as usual and rather than breaching a TOS, it's more risky if you put money onto their platform. The best solution is find a gambling platform that you don't have to use any sort of VPN just to access it, that's a no brainer.

You made quite a lengthy post but are you aware that Sportsbet doesn't ban her country? It's actually the other way around. It's the Government that blocked its citizens from accessing Sportsbet. You can also read her conversation with Saint-Loup just above for confirmation.

VPN services are useful when your location, as it is shown by your IP address is banned/prohibited by the platform but according to the sportsbet ToS it's not the case for Indonesia. And she doesn't seem to get any problem when she try to access sportsbet with her real IP address.
I don't know the Indonesian laws but in many countries, laws prohibit unauthorized websites too be available to the citizens but don't prohibit citizens to use those websites. That is to say only websites are likely to be punished, not the users. Moreover according to Doell, all indonesian ISPs are not blocking sportsbet.

Indirectly, I created the solution, as long as the website is not banned in the country, the user doesn't have to waste the money to buy VPN or download anything proxy. the user just has to change the DNS on the setting.

Your kind information, have you used Binance exchange within last a few couple of months? They don’t allow to withdrawals without submitted KYC, how much you will deposit or withdrawals here that's not a fact but to make first withdrawal you can't if you are not approved and your account will be restricted for withdrawals as i know.

Useful, probably. Risky, definitely, especially when it involves money, which gambling does. If you are hiding or masking your IP address because you are playing from a location which is banned or blacklisted, that is immediately a violation of the site's terms and conditions, including Sportsbet.io's. 

As stated in 2.16 under number 2 or Binding Declarations from Sportsbet.io's general terms and conditions, updated late December of last year, the site has the right to detect IP masking, considered a prohibited technique, which is what VPN is basically doing.^[1]
