I have also read this unfortunate news. I don't know how the sanctioning bodies in boxing will react to this call. It is not a far possibility that the sanctioning bodies in boxing will indeed exclude Russian fighters from the sport for now. We all know that there are already other leagues that have announced the exclusion of Russian teams and players. This is temporary of course. This is just to put pressure on Putin in every way possible.

I also read about that, don't know if we got the same article but I somehow read that sanctioning bodies are taking strict actions towards Russian fighter and not allowing them to have any title fights while there's still ongoing war. Yes, this is temporary but this sad news is a big deal specially that it is already set.

Fighting Canelo is like winning the lottery, similar to what Pacquiao is before, that's why many fighters wanted to have the opportunity not only to fight but have a good pay check as well.

Everyone can intimidated his opponent, but if you don't have the tools then your opponent will just laugh at you. So you also have to back it up and I'm sure Bivol is not going to be intimidated here because he know that he has a puncher's chance.

Without a doubt Bivol has the opportunity of a lifetime, originally Canelo was supposed to move to the cruiserweight division, however there were a lot of issues about who was supposed to be his next opponent.

So it seems that at least for the time being Canelo is not going to move to the cruiserweight division and instead he will fight on the light heavyweight division, even if Bivol losses not only he will get a huge sum of money, sooner or later he will have another shot at winning another belt, and if he happens to win then the rematch would be epic, so no matter what happens Bivol will win a lot with this fight.

but for canelo's camp, don't get too confident because in the recent boxing matches, we have seen upsets. i am confident with canelo's power here but you'll never know once inside the ring. he has to be prepared and his opponent knows his the underdog with about 3.75 odds on him, whereas, canelo is at 1.25, which clearly shows that bookies will favour canelo on this match.
for bivol, it will be a challenge for him, so he won't go inside the ring unprepared. but no matter what, both will have fat pockets afterwards.

Without a doubt Canelo needs to take this fight seriously, after all Bivol is a champion as well and it is not someone that can be taken lightly since he will do everything in his power to try to pull an upset against Canelo.

In all the fights I've seen on Canelo except the Mayweather fight his opponent's reach and height advantage is useless  Callum is 1.98 cm while Canelo is 1.78 a big difference in height but he makes Smith a short fighter with his timing and body shots he is always an advantage when his opponents are taller than him, he is an exceptionally gifted fighter Bivol may be a good fighter but so are the fighters that Canelo beat.

The support of course is all pouring into Ukraine but I don't think every single Russian citizen should be a victim of sanctions. But I don't think they should remain silent and tolerant of their leader either.

Sadly for Bivol, he is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Although he was born in Kyrgyzstan and his mother is South Korean, his father Moldovan, he might still be affected by possible sanctions because he and his family are living in Russia.

So far, there seems to be no plan of cancelling or postponing this fight. There is also no plan to replace Bivol. I hope this fight will happen.

But that lost against Mayweather? Canelo is still relatively unknown in the US and that he is too green at that time. That's why Oscar Dela Hoya is bitter that Canelo bolted away from him and there was even news before the Oscar wanted to fight Canelo. So do I, I also stand and support Ukraine on this one because we all know that war isn't an answer as many innocent people on both sides will seriously suffer in this conflict. Nah, I don't think it that way. The boxing industry and other sports industries are restricting Russian contender to show support to Ukraine and that they are condemning the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. It may sound political but it's not.
It's totally fine if the sanctioning bodies will impose a restriction that the Russian anthem and flag is not allowed in the fight, but banning them and getting their fights unsanctioned? That's too far.

To me that would be enough of a compromise, we need to understand there are many Russians that are against the war but due to the absolute power that Putin holds there is nothing they can do, so not only they have to endure the economic sanctions as everyone else, but they have to have their name being thrown together with those that support the war, something that is completely unfair, so as long as Bivol is fine with fighting without any references to Russia then I think the fight should still go forward.

I don't think there's anyone in his weight class who can really compete with him right now.  A shame because he's a great fighter and I don't see any great fights in his near future.  Bivol appears to just be the next victim.  Maybe we'll get a surprise, but I'll be putting my money on Canelo for this one.  Anything other than a victory for him would be a bit of a surprise.  Hopefully the sport of boxing will get a little more competitive now that the Paul brothers have brought some new blood to the sport because UFC has left boxing with a bit to be desired.
