Canelo needs to control the fight for him to win.
Like he always does, Canelo is in control of the fight from round 1 until the end of the fight. If saw all his fights, after the fight, his faced does look the same, I mean his opponent cannot land a solid punch to his face because he is very quick, he got the timing and he doesn't force the issue, his focus is just to win whether it's by decision or by KO.

Yes, as always and expected. Canelo will start slow to warm up while observing Bivol's movements and reach before starting his play, that's how he gain control each round because he is a man of focus and determination. He even doesn't look down or underestimate his opponents to avoid getting overwhelmed while fighting, Bivol may be hard to defeat but Canelo will always find way for that and maybe he can KO Bivol somewhere in late rounds.

He's so good observing his opponents and once he already calculated it all he will start to attack and be more aggressive to put his opponent down, we seen it from his old fights he is good in analyzing each moves that he needs to work both from his defense and offense, he still got that skills advantage though like what we all know Bivol is more harder than those former fights that he does from lower division but Canelo will find ways to have a better chance of winning this fight.

Canelo has only tasted a lose once in his whole boxing career and it was just a decision against Mayweather, and take note that that time Canelo is just 23 years old but managed to stood his ground against Mayweather, that alone is already a factor that Canelo is born and built for this industry and I don't have any doubts that he will stop at Bivol nor can be defeated against Bivol especially that he is still in the height of his prime.

Canelo really has all the advantages in this match. But for me, it's not that Dmitry Bivol is nothing. At least, he might give Canelo a tough match and not an overall dominance. They are both champions in their respective league and Canelo really targets Bivol therefore, the latter is really a big deal for him.

It's just around less than a month before this fight happened and all our speculations will now turn into reality.

I hope a close bout between these two and not a landslide victory.

I think we can see a close bout and not a landslide victory because Dmitry Bivol is the defending champion and it's not that he will give Canelo his position that easy. Canelo should work his way to covet this belt and as always I don't have any doubts against Canelo either because we have already saw how Canelo thinks inside the ring and his defense is as good as his offense, Bivol may struggle but it will be a close bout.

Being a defending champion does not guarantee anything, Canelo has beaten a lot of champions and he is good at doing that
this is not an extraordinary fight for Canelo, I thought the Plant fight will give him a hard time remember Plant is leading in the scorecard but he loses esteem in the latter rounds and Plant has a very good defense, has a great head movement can move around, can we expect this from Bivol, I don't think so he is a go for all-out a fighter and his offense is his defense.
All Canelo have to do is be a Canelo or do the same thing and its another paycheck and another victory ride.

I'm not saying that Bivol is guaranteed to win because he is the defending champion and he is more confident in this title because it is his division, what I'm trying to say is that this won't be an easy fight for Canelo but as always he can still and always will find a way to end the fight in his favor. We cannot really compare Caleb Plant to Dmitry Bivol because they didn't even fought in the past as they are in different weight class or division.

I do not think it makes any difference, if Canelo were to lose to Bivol would GGG be less interested in fighting Canelo at that point? I do not think so, and what about Canelo? He may even need the fight as a way to recover some of the reputation that he would lose under that scenario and then challenge Bivol again, this is why the victory of GGG was the key for the fight to happen, as a defeat at that point could have allowed Canelo to avoid him by claiming GGG was a shadow of his former self.

The point is not that GGG is less interested, but Canelo sees no point of making a third fight against GGG. For Canelo, GGG is already a beaten opponent. If Canelo looses to Bivol, I dont think fighting against GGG will be a recovery. Some might disagree, but I think that will be a step back for Canelo. Canelo would have gained, fame, if he would fight GGG if not same year, but at least in GGG. I think GGG will box for next few years only, maximum till 43. Only fans are interested in Canelo vs GGG third fight, but not both boxers.
Maybe Canelo thinks that way, but the fans do not and the fans matter, there are many fans that saw GGG winning at least one of those fights against Canelo and many are not happy with what happened with the judges, if Canelo did not cared at all about this then the fight with GGG would be completely out of his mind, but since that is not the case then we need to wonder why is that the case? And the most likely answer is that Canelo wants to show the fans that he can indeed beat GGG without leaving any room for doubt.

^^ From what I observed on Bivol's training videos in preparation on this fight, he seems to be very agile at his weight, uses a lot of feet, in and out and maybe this will be his strategy. But as you have said, can he maintain this during the duration of this fight? what if Canelo found a way to slow him down just like in the Caleb Plant fight wherein in the middle of fight, Canelo got his rhythm, and then slowly takes over the fight.

That will be his gameplan but that may change on the fight night if he saw Canelo is using another technique, there will be a lot of strategy to each other's movement and surely Bivol will gather everything to defend his title successfully but knowing Canelo he won't give up easily and will always find a way to find that certain weakness of Bivol. Canelo is really unpredictable and that will be Bivol's biggest challenge and if he cannot read behind Canelo's movement, that same challenge will turn into his biggest nightmare.

Yeah, probably is, they know that they need a lot of head movement and feet because they shouldn't be a stationary because Canelo is going to target that head. But with a lot of feint and moving away from Canelo's strong hands, maybe the fight will go to distance or Bivol getting lucky by catching Canelo coming inside. But that is a small chance, Canelo's boxing IQ is also very high because of his experience fighting a lot of champions.

That's what I admire from him, he lights to fight the champion and take the risk, and the good thing is he beats them easily. He has improved as a fighter, and I don't see him losing anymore, even in the upcoming trilogy fight with GGG. The time is getting closer now, I'm excited to see the outcome as much as I am excited to see the Trilogy of the GGG- Canelo fight.

Indeed! It seems to me that Canelo Alvarez was born to be a star in the boxing industry because the way he fights really intrigued me and makes me watch his fights as he is always in his A-game and doesn't even give any chances to his opponents to hit a hard punch because his defense is really good. The good thing about Canelo is that he is constantly learning on every fights he had. Few weeks more before this fight will happen and eventually the trilogy will become into reality because I see that Bivol will be just a hindrance that Canelo will destroy on the way.

The fight is very controversial and for many years, Canelo has been haunted by it. Boxing writers continue to ask him why he didn't want to give GGG a third fight. And maybe he wanted to show who the real winner is but facing him in the trilogy. But we can talk about it later once he settled and win against his tougher opponent in Bivol next month.

Yes, Canelo doesn't want that trilogy as he already claimed he's the winner in 1st and 2nd fight. Nothing to prove anymore. But is that really a reason or Canelo just accepts the fact that GGG is the toughest opponent he fought in his prime?

I don't know what thing happened that makes Canelo change his mind, maybe pressure or just imagining how much the expected revenue that the trilogy will make if he accepts it and finally seal their chapter.

But yes, we can talk this more if he beats Bivol. If he will lose here, no trilogy will happen and GGG will move on to other opponents.

Maybe Canelo becomes sick of everything and now finally decided to face GGG in a trilogy to end their saga. Much especially now that GGG won against Murata and added some titles on his, Canelo has no choice but to face GGG for the third time. You are right that before we talk or discuss the trilogy, Canelo should be the winner first of his upcoming fight against Dmitry Bivol. His opponent is also in his prime, the same as him. Canelo winning this fight will be the key to the trilogy with GGG but if he loses this, no more trilogy.

We should focus first on this fight before anything else. Bivol is not an easy opponent but Canelo should be able to handle him.

Maybe combination of both? He signed the biggest contract in boxing with DAZN when he separated with GBP. But the thing is, months after, GGG also signed with DAZN so it's just a matter of time that the network will set up this fight because they know that the revenue is going to be big. And so Canelo can't avoid it, and maybe he also think about the money in the table for him, and could be the second richest boxer behind Floyd.

Canelo have no other option as well because for some reasons his fight against Ilunga Makabu has been cancelled and now that he's been offered a fight against a champion in Light-Heavyweight who also have a clean record but that deal also includes GGG on the contract and if he doesn't want to fight GGG for a trilogy then he also won't fighting Bivol. I have already said this in the past weeks that even if Canelo doesn't want a 3rd fight but he got no choice here but he is not worried because he personally knows that he can handle Bivol well and give GGG a 3rd fight before the man will retire (probably).

Both! It's still not yet decided because their 1st fight is a draw while the 2nd fight really belongs to him, I might see that as his reason because if he had been the one who have lost during their 2nd encounter for sure he would ask for a rematch/trilogy because he cannot just accept that fact. But the opposite happened and he didn't gave GGG the trilogy he asked. Canelo cannot deny the fact that GGG is the toughest and strongest opponent that's why he's just hiding behind those reasons that there's nothing more to prove.

If only this supposed trilogy happened last 2019, Canelo would surely struggle unlike now that almost all of the advantages are on his side.

He learned a lot from those past years, If he really have that full confidence that he can beat GGG any time he can simply accept that trilogy but just like you, I also think that he knows that GGG is one of his greatest rivals from the division, it's not easy to win against the man that's why he keeps saying that there's nothing to prove.

We may see another shot for GGG after Canelo wins this fight against Bivol. Money will talk and it will favor the fans.

Just need to wait and see the negotiation that will take place..

@TravelMug. There will presently be more of a chance on a trilogy after GGG's performance vs. Murata. The excitement is only beginning, I reckon.

We will have to see it first though, but if we are going to based it on paper, yeah, it sure like it. Bivol is young, undefeated and one of the champion in this division. He has the power and has been knocking out his opponents in the lightweight. Although this will not be the first time that Canelo is going up in weight, Bivol might be a serious challenge for him style wise. But we will see everything once they go in the ring.

Canelo is good, based on what I've seen of his highlights on YouTube and how well he beats his opponents. In terms of record, experience, and talents, Canelo has every advantage he needs to defeat Bivol. Since Bivol is undefeated, this could be a thrilling fight. Let's see who wins between these two boxers. Wink

Well, if it's not about the money then what is it about? I would not believe if Canelo would say that he wants to end that discussion once and for all because if he really thinks that way then he should've fought GGG long time ago. Anyways I agree that defeating GGG again on their trilogy will make him the best fighter in the world in todays modern age and no one can doubt that.

He should listen to what the fans are asking, Canelo is one of the best now, but you are right, defeating GGG would make him the best fighter. So hopefully, after the fight of Canelo (if he wins) is over, a trilogy will already be on the line. We've seen Ugas vs Spence ( good fight), but GGG vs Canelo is a better fight for sure.

Both are Champs from their respective divisions. Canelo is now challenging Bivol on his weight level, it's thrilling since both are

have an impressive resume, it will be a test for each fighter. One is to defend his belt, and the other is to prove that he can take even a much

bigger opponent. We will expect a good exchanging of solid punches, a counter and a combination that may lead them to KO, their opponent.

Less than a month from now and the fight will roll and hopefully will bring the entertainment all the fans are waiting between these two.

Canelo Alvarez is indeed the favorite to win the duel, because of his extraordinary experience, talent and technique in every fight he plays, as a boxer who is currently the current super middleweight champion and is also ranked No 1 in pound-for-pound of course he deserves to be favourite, but I don't think Bivol is an easy opponent for canelo alvares in the ring, because from the moment I watched the bivol fight in the ring he is absolutely stunning in my opinion, his footwork and speed in hitting which is quite accurate sometimes makes his opponent often overwhelmed in the face of Bivol.

That will be subjective. We don't even see yet how Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol will clash with each other. In Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin chapter, we already witnessed their 1st and 2nd fight that's why we can make a brief conclusion about it or we can speculate who's better.

By record and stats, Bivol is impressive. The same goes for Canelo Alvarez.

But on who has the upper hand and is dominant, we need to wait on May 7.
