right, he must be aware that the ridicule did come from outside and what he is doing now is completely different and has nothing to do with the war that is currently happening because of course he also doesn't want this because it will definitely be a bit of a hindrance for him.

Canelo is still the seed but when he loses when there is ridicule and bluff for him about his country's problems there is definitely a reason for him to dodge Grin

That, I believe, would be the motivation of Bivol on this fight.
But we will see if Canelo is indeed prepared for this weight division.
GGG is waiting for him already. So don't know what will happen if in case, Canelo will lose to Bivol on this match.
But Canelo is still the favorite of sportsbooks. Can Canelo live up to the expectations of his fans? Let us watch...
This is the important point now for Bivol because he should have realized that indeed responding to ridicule due to his country in conflict is a waste of time because there is Canelo he has to think about because he is definitely in trouble.
Canelo is a very strong fighter and there is nothing wrong with him being the underdog. I also still feel that Bivol will only be a sweetener before the big show with GGG later.

We've talk about how great Canelo is, and we are saying that he is still peaking and reaching his prime. And you guys are correct because he himself said that:

Quote
“It’s boxing, but nobody can beat me right now,” Alvarez said on the Boxing with Chris Mannix podcast. “I feel in my prime.

"And no disrespect to other fighters. There’s some great fighters. But I feel in my prime. I feel strong. I feel in my best.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/canelo-nobody-beat-me-right-now-im-my-prime--165766

And with this kind of confidence, yeah, I don't think that anybody can beat Canelo from 160-175 lbs at this point. He is too good for other boxers even for GGG, although we can give credit to GGG for giving Canelo his toughest fight in his career.
Some people may get mad about his statements and think that he is being arrogant but I think it is the truth, the guy is at this prime, he still has all his skills as a boxer but now all of that is paired with a high level of experience, so without a doubt he is at his best, now that does not mean that he is unbeatable, because this is boxing and a single punch is all what is needed not only to change a fight but a whole career, so he still needs to prepare for each and every fight.

Bivol's problem is that he has a relatively weak knockout punch, so it can be assumed that if Canelo doesn't knock him out, the fight will last the full 12 rounds. It will be quite difficult for Bivol to win on points even if the scoring is absolutely fair, but we know that the challenger must be clearly stronger than the champion in order to be awarded the victory.
Should it be understood from your words that  Canelo's chances of winning will be higher? Although Canelo has more fights and victories (there is also 1 defeat), but Bivol's statistics look better (but there are 3 times fewer fights). Also, Bivol has an advantage in height, and hence the length of his arms. To be honest, I can't even imagine a possible winner and I see the only way to find out is to wait for the scheduled fight, which will determine the strongest.

Yes, bookmakers allow you to bet on Canello with odds of 1.3, while on Bivol as much as 4.7. This suggests that Canelo is a clear favorite and some advantage in physical data does not mean anything. As you rightly noted, the challenger has three times fewer fights, and the champion has already beaten everyone he can, and for him it will be a fight with another average fighter.

Yeah, I think it's not arrogance, maybe his haters will said that, but we've seen Canelo just destroying champion at the division mentioned and improved. And he is still at his prime right now and has achieved a lot and could really claim this belt against Bivol at Light Heavy Weight. As far as his preparation goes, he take it by heart, that's why he reached this far. And also the people behind it, like his coach is good and has guided his career to where he is right now.

Indeed, one mistake and a solid punch landed in your critical area will cause you your entire career. With Canelo's statement, it's more on the confidence that he's building inside him. There are people who will find it arrogant, but in the eyes of his fans and followers, he really does have that strength as he's on his prime now.

It will be tested in each fight that he will be taken. We will see his greatness and how he will win every single fight that being line up for him.

Despite such a difference in rates and the fact that Canello is the favorite in this match, nevertheless, the outcome can be unpredictable. At least one serious cut is enough and the favorite can take the position of the loser like a technical KO. Perhaps this is the "beauty" of sports and betting on them, that the outcome always remains unknown until the end of the battle, match, game. Otherwise, with a known result, what would be the point of watching it. It is the unpredictability that is attractive.

that's obvious because in this match Bivol is still labeled as an Underdog now even though his abilities are extraordinary but indeed it's still not enough to equalize with Canelo now.
Canelo has now gone through 60 international fights including 57 wins, 2 draws and one loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Bivol is arguably a newcomer when compared to Canelo then it's quite clear that he is very favored by the bookies

I don't think we have seen Canelo as the underdog in fight maybe except for the Floyd Mayweather because he is still relatively unknown that time.

But his records now speak for himself, from 154 lbs to 175 lbs, he has conquered a lot of divisions and beat champions along the way. He is still 4:1 favorite as per bookies right now. Bivol is good but he doesn't have the skills to beat Canelo, but he can give Canelo problems early and then Canelo adjusting.

Since this is still related to Canelo then I will post it here. This sounds funny. Long time reigning UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is ready to go to sleep in a boxing ring for dirty sexy money. Seems like all UFC superstars are willing to get baptized by boxing superstars for good paydays. First McGregor, then Woodley and now both Ngannou and Usman.

By the way, there are only 3 remaining belt holders in light heavyweight since lineal champ Artur Beterbiev already unified the IBF and WBC. Bivol holds the WBA. The WBO holder Joe Smith Jr. already lost to Bivol few years ago but still managed to become champion. And I think Beterbiev and Smith are already in negotiations for a three belt unification war. This means Canelo can collect all these belts in only two fights. Seems like he will be doing a legacy indeed.

On the other hand, I believe Canelo will finally win the highest paid athlete this year if he gets past Bivol.

I don't think we have seen Canelo as the underdog in fight maybe except for the Floyd Mayweather because he is still relatively unknown that time.

Not known that time? Canelo won't be considered as a matchup for Mayweather if he's not popular at that time.

Canelo has a clean record of 42-0 with 30 KOs before he faced Mayweather. He also holds the WBC Light Middleweight title at that time and his name was a hyped because of his achievement. Not popular? Smiley

Bivol is good but he doesn't have the skills to beat Canelo, but he can give Canelo problems early and then Canelo adjusting.

That was too much, I guess.

I'm with Canelo to win the fight but in fairness to Bivol, I don't see him as a pure underdog where literally, he won't stand any chance to win. We can't also conclude that Bivol doesn't have the skills to match with Canelo since boxers are adjusting to whoever their opponent is.

Again, I'm with Canelo to win the match but I'm expecting Bivol to at least show what he got as an undefeated boxer and also a Champion.

There are people who will find it arrogant, but in the eyes of his fans and followers, he really does have that strength as he's on his prime now.

Actually, the statement is not being arrogant and I'm sure people won't treat it that way because Canelo Alvarez is just stating the fact.

Canelo's statement is backed up by valid and strong proof that even those who don't like him will accept it.

Different from other arrogant boxers whose mouth is just full of talks and can't prove it to the ring like for example, Caleb Plant who trash talk Canelo, Keith Thurman who toyed with Manny Pacquiao, and many others.

Can we please switch from discussing how cool Canelo is and why there must be a third fight against GGG, to who Dmitry Bivol is ? Everyone here talk like Canelo has already won. Bivol is not a boy for beating. Bivol has successfully defended his WBA lightheavy title 3 times. That is something to take into consideration.
~

But in fact, judging by the quotes of the bookmakers, it is. Canelo is such a clear favorite that boxing fans are already ready to discuss possible next fights than this "determined" fight. Of course, Bivol is not an easy opponent and not a bag whose probability of winning is zero, but if you look objectively, his chances are more like a lucky punch than winning the fight as a whole.
that's obvious because in this match Bivol is still labeled as an Underdog now even though his abilities are extraordinary but indeed it's still not enough to equalize with Canelo now.

It's obviously both fighters have a huge gap in their record and I think that Canelo will surely win the fight. As the round goes by, there is a possibility that there could be a technical knockout/decision.

Quote

Yes, this is true. Canelo will surely dominate the fight.

In basketball, it is called "the ball is round".

Back to boxing, that is possible but knowing Canelo's capability, he will surely try to avoid the unexpected punches by Bivol. But even if Bivol will be able to land some solid punches, we are not sure if Bivol's power is enough to hurt Canelo.

Moreover, the fight is now approaching and we will see if Bivol is really a threat to Canelo's legacy or vice-versa.

In the next fight I will support Canelo to win Bivol WBA light heavyweight world title, especially so far Canelo fight record is quite good even he is currently the favorite in that his 61st fight, a record of 57 wins is not an easy thing to get a boxer, except he is a talented boxer who has high technique in every fight, and canelo who has made it so far is certainly a great boxer in my opinion and I think the bivol defead will be his 58th win out of 61 fights canelo played.

Canelo's 1.3 odds are still high for a heavy favorite. Usually, odds on that level of boxer play on a range at 1.00-1.1.

This is the first time I saw a Champion with no defeats was given 4.7 odds. That's how far the distance bookies see on these 2 champions, especially on Canelo Alvarez. I wonder what will happen if Bivol will able to upset Canelo.

It will shock the boxing community for sure.

No, the odds of 1-1.1 can be seen when we see some "passing" fight. In any fight where there is at least a theoretical chance for an underdog to win, the odds are higher. For example, in the Fury-Whyte fight, Fury's odds of winning were 1.18 - almost 1.2, although he was the undisputed favorite. Maybe 1.3 looks like too generous odds, but there are reasons for this that you wrote.

I think you're misreading here because I never called Canelo an Underdog and I wouldn't even consider it that way.
He's a good fighter and the Underdog's words against Bivol were definitely too forced.

The word underdog there is clear for Bivol who indeed in terms of fighting experience it has been seen that this is far from Canelo

If that will happen, his name will be hyped up. I remember how Ugas get that attention after beating Pacquiao. It will be more for Bivol since Alvarez established his name as one of the legend of pound for pound and still active and still at his prime, upsetting the heavy favorite would impact on his career.

For that, he will enjoy more money fights, offers that will continue to suck money out from the fans and gamblers.

Too early to discuss, though, let's see if how both fighters will show competitiveness once they are both inside the ring.

That would certainly open more doors on his career if he will be able to defeat the current pound for pound king and an undisputed fighter, Saul Canelo Alvarez. Towards that way is not an easy thing to accomplish but its reward to reap is definitely hard to deny as his name will be hyped continuously over the years to come.

Though Canelo will ask for a rematch to seek some revenge for that loss.
