Request for basic mining motherboard build advice

Hello,

I am seeking some help along the path of selecting and identifying the parts for a eth miner system.

Currently I have one 3080 running inefficiently in 3 desktop gaming computers.

Due to travel constraints, I have a 2-day window of time to build/configure the GPUs on a single motherboard (running eth protocol coins). I am concerned that being a novice on my first time dealing with multiple (three) GPUs (3080) on one motherboard and delivering power properly, then I am uncertain that I will get all the parts and get it done IN ONE SINGLE PASS.  

Can somebody point me to a ready resource (video? doc?) where I can quickly identify all the parts for the proper mining setup. Can y'all help? I could really use some vetted youtube videos that explain what I need. Or maybe there is a post here on bitcointalk that would serve as a good guide.

Generally speaking, are the motherboards marketed for mining built with more robust hardware (or other features) compared to a gaming motherboard? Other than the sheer number of GPUs these miner boards can accommodate, I can guess the mining MB is be designed with loads of fast PCI lanes for a large number of GPUs.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a miner board that could host 3+ GPUs? Perhaps one that takes 6 total? I don't predict that I will have more than 3. But one never knows. I certainly don't need to buy the Asus B250 to accommodate 19 GPUs. haha!
 
If I have a handful of desktop motherboards with i7 CPUs. Perhaps if I can't get the single mining machine completed, I could put the cards in open frame with these i7 motherboard combos. Each one can host one 3080 each. I guess that's my backup plan to get "something" running. Then I could work on the single board solution. That would not be a failure... it would be a stepping stone toward my goal.

I believe I saw something about PCI splitters? Is that a bad idea?

Do folks who run a mining motherboard with several GPUs also run a mining algo on the CPU? Or do you keep your CPU available for use with the multiple GPU cards?

Are there mining rack features that are more advantageous to seek? I need a rack recommendation, too.

My recommendation is for building a setup with 3 cards like you have but I am giving you a motherboard that is a bit costly compared to others but well worth the spending in my view.It has 6 PCIEx 16 slots but only the first one can offer display being a true PCIEx16 while the 5 others have 16 pins but run at PCIEx1 speed.The motherboard is called AsRock H510 Pro Btc and is specifically build for mining.With this mobo you won't have any problems,but make sure to update your BIOS first if you get this one as 3080 are not recognized by the default BIOS that this board has.Also do not worry for heating because the cards are near each other,I have put 4 cards into this and they are running rock stable as you can see from the picture below.Here is also my part list

Cpu:Core i3 10100
RAM: 4GB DDR4
SSD: 256 GB Kingston (not NVME normal one)
PSU:Corsair Rx 1000 i Gold
GPU-s:Rx 6800 Xt,Rtx 2060 12 GB,Rx 5700 xt and Rtx 3060 ti (non LHR)

Go to YouTube and type how to set up a mining rig there are tons of videos explaining how to do this perfectly, you need risers if you want to use the three graphic cards in a single motherboard

1. 3 preferable 4 risers 009 versions are the best
2. Massive power supply that can power the three 3080 I'm sure a 1800watt will do the job so well.

Even if you mine in dual mining and do not spare the video card, the maximum consumption will not be more than 350 watts. 350*3+100 = 1150 watts.
Why use an 1800 watt power supply if there are only 3 video cards and their number will not increase?

I started with 1 GPU and as time goes on I added another 2 GPUs making three, the advantage of MOBO with extra slots and also bigger power supply is huge, enough room for expanding the mining rig.
