how many hypes have passed and yet, the strategy of these scammers is to ride and get on it while they can? it is no surprise why more and more meta projects are sprouting as they can scoop up gullible investors. they will only stop once people realised they are being screwed by these projects. but up until they can extract some money from these people, they will. you are on your own here. if you are an investor, you should always do your due diligence. no one can do it for you. every hype, there will always be scammers. it it their breeding ground to multiply fast.

Scam projects doesn't need to be named Meta or whatsoever. I'm sure you know that there are scam projects that doesn't have Meta in its name. This is why we should do a lot of digging and research to know if a project is scam or not. I have found a project where I thought it's a scam but few months later I made profit from my investment. You may say that we should avoid all projects with a meta in its name but that's only a small part of it. You should know that every place does have a scammers.

It's not surprising back when it was first mentioned in here. First it was IEOs, STOs then DeFis then NFTs and now we are here in Metaverse. Scammers are also being a nomadic bastards trying to take advantage of these trends.
I do not have the full idea of Metaverse and I don't really care that much about the newer trends these days. It's just that whenever these get mentioned I tend to peak a little bit on what is it really all about, but I ain't going to throw my money into these.

I think that it is imperative that people realise a lot of metaverses out there are created by nothing other than people trying to turn a quick profit by riding the market wave, and that's exactly what is happening right now.

A lot of projects starting with meta- don't even have anything to do with the metaverse. And those who do rarely have a functional one.

While "mostly scam" sounds about right I'd still be not as dismissive. As the present becomes past, we're ushering into a new era. Metaverse, Pay to Earn and such niches will only get better as days go by.

I thought they wanted to create a new trend, but unfortunately they just duplicated the original concept.
What is certain is that they only took the word "meta" from the metaverse concept, then created a concept that was not much different from the metaverse.

Very good point! But I'm also a huge fan of project that focus on the metaverse since it seems to become a huge thing in the near future. Especially when you look at the gaming section, I think there are many promising projects, one of my fave being Engine token. And why? Simply because they bring in AAA games and their VR platform will soon be released. The ENGINE metaverse will be controlled by users through a decentralized network. I think it's a huge deal and defiently something to keep an eye on.

Believing and trusting the projects contributes the power to the community, and i think this is just beggining of the meta and decentraland, and for defis why not, cause staking is never bad desicion for me on blockfi,ledger and soon on lunafi i plan to stake cause cause of the farming pools which i'm really attracted to.

If you could find a method to make sure that a project is not a scam, then you should share it with the world. Everyone talks about how we should "do research" to find if a project is a scam or not but not like projects tell you that they are scams. Thankfully I rarely join new projects that looks shady, but usually don't join into new projects all together.

So, by the time I go into a project, that project is already few months old and people know about it. But at the end of the day, we are talking about something that is not tangible and we do not know how well it will be or not. I guess all we have to do right now is to figure out a way to know if a project is fake or not and there is no method to find that out.

That's just part of what I said. Even though the coin doesn't have meta in its name doesn't mean that it's not a scam coin. As what I previously said, even if the coin name have meta in its name or not as long as the team or person behind it is a scammer then it is a scam coin but some coin with meta in its name is not a scam when the team or person behind the coin is planning to run a company then it's not a scam. Scammers need to be smart to be able to scam their victim's money that is why some scammers go along with the trend.

Well thank you for that advice, --this is pretty normal in the crypto space, a trend project will sometimes have a clone to fool people and get into the trap.
People or any young investors should stick on the projects that already exist, if you want to gamble your money then --you go for it. Investing in new projects seems to gamble in my point of view. We know scammers are getting smarter each year, they also level up just to fool people, even from the black hat to red hat scammers.
