Take the quizz - without looking into the graph below, which country on this list has more GDP than Russia as of today:

- Italy
- India
- Canada
- South Korea

The answer is ...

All of them. Russia is living on the inheritance of weaponry, diplomacy and technical advances of the old USSR. Putin´s war may mark a step-stone in the path of Putin´s Russia loosing another chunk of their stance in the world. This could deal a blow to the country´s morale and perhaps drive a change.

Russia like power, Russia believes in power than any other thing, just like North Korea that believes in power. The west prefer economy but also have the weaponry like Russia, even more. See the Russia's defence minister saying Russia has 500 nuclear warhead or something, which was said by the defense minister to be capable of destroying the whole NATO countries including United States. Russia is controlled by a dictator, if it is democratic, it would have been better, the dictator countries like Russia, China and North Korea and their supporters are the countries that are threats in the world.

a few days ago I read an article in the local media about the impact of the war  Ukraine and Russia on the Russian economy, in the article it said that the actual sanctions imposed by the NATO countries were not strong enough to cripple the Russian economy, because Russia GDP is currently at 12th position or 25 percent than Italy and 20 percent smaller than Canada, I think Russia, which is an exporting country of oil and natural gas, is of course not that easy to be paralyzed just because of sanctions from America and its allies, because precisely if America and its allies Banning oil and gas exports from russia of course not problem for putin, because so far Russia has maintained good trade relations with China.

Sanctions can not just start to be effective very soon, it can take time, let us see what will happen if the world is not dealing with Russia. I was surprised to read today that Canada is even importing crude oil from Russia and that they spend over $300 million annually for it. China will be more friend to Russia with the aim to trade more with the Russia and having the aim to take over Taiwan. If it continues with Russia not invade Ukraine as fast as possible, sanction will later have effect on Russia.

I think also over time Russia's ecomomic capabilities will be affected by all the
sanctions. Every day I am hearing of new countries cutting ties with Russia, the latest
is MAERSK the shipping company will only ship food and medical supplies to Russia.

I think this move by Russia against Ukraine will set Russia backwards when trade
restrictions are felt fully.

Bruh, make it challenging  Cheesy

Which of the following states have a higher GDP than Russia?
- California, New York, Alaska or Texas.

Which countries have a higher GDP per capita then Russia:
- Barbados, Uruguay, Malaysia or Puerto Rico

With which of the following countries does China trade more than with Russia
- Germany, Australia, Malaysia or Thailand

Which of the following companies have sold products worth more than all of the Russian global gas exports per year:
- Apple, Mercedes Benz, PepsiCo, Caterpillar or Nike

Disclaimer, I had to google the data myself for some of them.
But either way, the numbers are just ridiculous, some really have problems understanding the tiny dot that Russia represents in the global economy.

I was also thinking that with a limited GDP it may be difficult to replenish the weaponry and material loses. Ukraine may be Putin's equivalent to invading Russia by Hitler or Napoleon.

Of all these, I would have missed Alaska, maybe Texas (it must be close and may even depend on the year??), Thailand as trading power and Puerto Rico as having a good per capita.

Putin is taking Russia to the old Soviet rule. Now he is not into state of growth, but he's addicted to power. This is what it looks like based on the GDP of Russia. No country have given hands to Russia. He's willing to make the Soviet Union again and just because Ukraine was ruled by Russia in the past it doesn't mean they always need to be in control. Every country have got its sovereignty, culture and policies. When there arises conflicts, it needs to be discussed and a solution needs to be made rather making war.

Putin is like living in the backward state. We are already in this modern age where freedom is being advocated by most governments and institutions. This is why even neighboring countries are against with Putin because he wants to be a dictator of a country that it is not his. He said that he will not invade Ukraine but just demilitarizing it??? I don't know what to call about his actions now. Maybe, if he will lose this battle, he will wake up to reality that we are not in this barbaric age anymore just to show power over others. He doesn't want Ukraine to gain its own freedom. So hopefully, he will lose this one and contemplate on things that violence is not the solution anymore. High likely that there will be economic impact on their country. And it is not looking good by any means.

The problem is that all these facts are not easily available to the ordinary Russians way back home. The brainwashing at home is strong. There is very tight information control. Stifling the opposition is a government priority. Thus, there is very little pressure on Putin at home to stop making this unnecessary war which would definitely result to their economic downfall, whose brunt would be felt more by the ordinary citizens than the leaders.
