Hello mate, I can give assurance that any altcoin will last for 5 years in the market as most of them are just for speculation and not good for a long time holding. But if anyone wants to risk it I will advise you to stick to Bitcoin or ethereum in most cases rather than risking your investment on a meme coin that can easily get dumped within a short time.

because 5 years is very long for an investment, there are several coins,

If the goal behind your attempt to buy altcoins and hold them for a long period of time is to achieve some level of diversification then I think you are going to be disappointed with the results you will get, altcoins demonstrate high levels of correlation with bitcoin, which means they move in ways that are very similar.

So if your true goal is diversification as you state then without a doubt it would be better for you to consider options outside this market, like precious metals or real estate.

Will be different if long period holding bitcoin than altcoin where have correction later although several years holding but couldn't give much profit, keep worth when become long term investment with bitcoin only but still not any investor keep have one choose only like bitcoin as investment assets. I think better keep holding as potential altcoin like BNB or ETH than keep looking with several altcoin without have any good roadmap clearly on their schedule and keep update with good news for later, have several altcoin die later with long term holding from delisting on market until price stuck drop.

TBH, its hard to know what altcoins will be the best to invest in that time span because many can change on that 5 years.
You might see Altcoin X at the top 10 and after a year or two, it will be below top 100 already. On the other hand, you can see an altcoin out of nowhere that will be in the top 10 or top 5.

Maybe the altcoins that I will suggest to hold on a 5 year span is ETH, LTC, BNB, LINK, XRP. They are at the top already in terms of market cap for quite some time though some of them went down but some went up. Ethereum remained at the 2nd spot thus, I consider this a valuable altcoin to hold for a span of 5 years.

When it comes to value of coin,reading of chat to know its sustainability is important. Coin like BNB,Ethereum,Bitcoin and ADA are off good value but diversification is highly encourage. Some coin will grow with time. So invest in the new ones but invest moderately and wisely

I won't advice any investor to invest in meme coin for long term investment, however I prefers BNB coin for a long term investment this is based on the growing adoption of BSC Binance Smart Chain network and  the regular burning of BNB for those reasons I believe BNB has a future prospect and worth investing on, I also agreed that  bitcoin and ethereum are also good for long term investment however my preferred choice  is BNB iin as much as Binance exchange continue to exist then BNB will grow too.

Investing in coins like BNB for the long term is acceptable, they still pose a greater risk than bitcoin but they can also bring greater profits so things balance out when we think about it, however investing in meme coins for the long term is unacceptable.

We have seen dogecoin and shiba inu pumping and generating great excitement among some members of the community, but those pumps are temporary, with the most common states of those coins being dumping, ranging or outright disappearing, as there is nothing behind those coins when you begin to look at their fundamentals and you try to find any reason for those tokens to hold any value at all.

I think the best choice is still bitcoin, which is the most traded crypto coin, even to the point of being nicknamed the king of cryptocurrency. so it will remain the best choice until now maybe even in the future.
Since its inception, Bitcoin has targeted the global market, including through peer-to-peer, used for digital cash and others.
Bitcoin is a decentralized crypto currency, it is not controlled by anyone and the price will be the same everywhere.
so that many invest in bitcoin because it is very profitable now and in the future.

while for the first altcoin is;
- ethereum, the first cryptocurrency to introduce the concept of smart contact.
- xrp, coming from a US company, was built with the aim of providing a more efficient way to make cross-border payments in the financial industry.
- BNB, ADA, SOL, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, which are currently ranked among the best in CMC/CGK.

Diversification should be minimum too, the more coins and tokens you hold the more you risk you are in, fewer coins less risk that's my belief, you should start looking into strong smart contract projects like Matic, Solana, Terra Luna and Avalanche.

You can call anything to any other altcoin because there are some figure heads in all of them, even if they look decentralized, they are not "truly" decentralized in a sense and most of them are not even that.

This is the reason why I do not trust most other coins, this is why most of my coin investments are in bitcoin and I will probably increase the amount I have in bitcoin more than the others for the upcoming future. It just never made sense to me to invest into anything else at a large amount. I only invest what I can afford to lose into altcoins.

Five years is a very long time, are you sure you understand how crypto works? Top altcoins today might lose their ranks in a few years times, in 2017 some altcoins are in the top 20 list on coinmarketcap but they fade in just two years, no matter which auctions you pick taking profit is what makes you grow.
