Recently there's been an influx of governments all around the world starting to accept Bitcoin as method of payment for public services, such as public transport, license fees, taxes, or even going all the way to declare Bitcoin as legal tender, allowing the direct payment of everything with Bitcoin. The specifics will vary a bit in each case, but the general idea is that more and more governments are starting to accept Bitcoin directly.

Here's a list of them with a link for more information about it:

Others are preparing to join them. Like the city of Jackson, Tennessee in the USA for example. The Major of the city, Scott Conger, tweeted about his intentions. Also Miami Major, Francis Suarez, has said he has plans to accept Bitcoin for local fees and taxes.

You can observe the trackers on CBDCs. It does not automatically mean CBDC launch in a nation will make Bitcoin legal tender in that nation but it is very likely to be legal tender.

CBDCtracker.org. Bitcoin initiated the blockchain industry on which CBDCs rely on for their development and launch. I know CBDCs are backed by governments and they are worse than cryptocurrencies because CBDCs are totally centralized in power of governments and central banks.

However, they will talk bull shit if they launch CBDCs and don't accept Bitcoin. And fortunately, being legal tender or not, people always can use Bitcoin with their non custodial wallets and with Bitcoin centralized network.

Ohio should have been on the list. It's unfortunate that the state has suspended its crypto tax payment portal OhioCrypto.com. The suspension has been running for years now and there seems to be no date yet when it will resume. Perhaps there is no significant demand for it.

I guess this is also more or less the same in cities where Bitcoin is accepted for public services payment. It's interesting to know how prevalent the use of Bitcoin is where it is accepted. That's probably a better gauge in measuring Bitcoin adoption-- it's actual use instead of just acceptance.

I think they are learning from the mistakes of others. Looking at what is happening in the world, the pandemic, war and inflation a smart Government should take a step like this so that in the future it won't be too late for citizens to know about bitcoin and how it works. However, it's a big win for bitcoin. Getting such an adoption will make a tremendous impact on the growth of bitcoin and Bitcoin.

But we also need to know whether this applies only temporarily or in the future bitcoin will always be used for their interests and for foreign companies so that bitcoin looks more useful to the wider community.
But if this adoption is only temporary, it means that everything also depends on their respective governments.

Last year, I was then telling my friends online in Facebook that 2022 can be the year of more adoption including some sectors of the government and it is happening now in a number of states in the USA. What is good with USA is that each state can decide on many things on their own without the need for approval from the federal government because had it been otherwise then those states may not be able to get involved with Bitcoin that easily. Now, am so particularly interested with how things can work out with Arizona which has a proposed bill to make BTCV as a legal tender...and since this can be a pioneering move it would be worth watching. I am sure that the big decision by El Salvador is now slowly influencing other places to do the same...or at least allow Bitcoin to be accepted as a currency on their official transactions.

I was surprised Miami is behind from those cities.
Miami mayor Francis Suarez showed a great interest in Bitcoin last year, infact he wants Miami to be the center of the growing crypto industry. He should've started accepting Btc in all government agency services by now.
Well, it would eventually happen anyway. Most important thing is that these government has learned that Bitcoin isn't a competition for fiat currency and it's not a threat to the traditional banking system.

so it means government adoption is not a dream anymore. If in the past everyone thought the government was anti-crypto, now that assumption is slowly starting to be doubted. everything began to change, and slowly became something mainstream. So I won't be surprised if in the future, countries like China, America, or other big countries will fully adopt it.

And I saw the Russia walking towards it. since many foreign sanctions were imposed on the country. bitcoin or any other crypto coin could be the answer to their problem.

The specifics will vary a bit in each case, but the general idea is that more and more governments are starting to accept Bitcoin directly.

Of all the examples you cited in your post, only El Salvador falls into the category of the government that has approved Bitcoin as a legal tender - all the rest are decisions at the city level or in the case of Switzerland their provinces (cantons). In my country, several cities also allow residents to pay bills for some city services in cryptocurrencies - but that doesn't mean it has anything to do with the government where very few people can define Bitcoin at all.

However, one should not be deceived that local/city authorities have some sympathy for Bitcoin, because the payment for services is such that BTC is automatically converted into fiat.

They’ll all have to bend a knee for bitcoin in the medium term future. There is no escape, fiat currencies & governments are crumbling, bitcoin will be King, a world reserve currency. Prepare yourself accordingly, time waits for no man.

Bitcoin had a solid base now.Now the government also started to involved in the process of bitcoin growth. It's not a end and just a beginning. If the government of all the country had started to legalize the bitcoin and increase the usage of bitcoin.Their will be huge variation in the price of bitcoin. So it was the reason for the huge investors  in to the bitcoin every year. This was the same reason for the increase in bitcoin price too.The bitcoin price hard to increase 20k in 2018.Now it crossed the 40-50k dollars because of the same reason.

Not only that I was quite happy to find out that the ukranian government is now accepting donations in Bitcoins on twitter.  Their official site in twitter is : https://twitter.com/Ukraine?s=09 when you go to their space you can find out that the world is sending donations to stop the war not just as a means of financial aid, weapons, humanitarian aid but at the same time : Bitcoins as well. I am currently trying to teach my house owner whose appartment i rent in Ukraine to use bitcoins as well since am at a safe location now but bitcoins is the only thing that's sustainable right now, with the current inflation and decline in economy it's honestly the one thing that people can trust

Here's a list of them with a link for more information about it:

this is really amazing, cities that recognize bitcoin as a currency continue to grow from year to year. in my country bitcoin is still forbidden to be used as a means of payment, if my city can follow this then that's great. Bitcoin has become the perfect currency and investment for everyone.

Sure, if its temporary then they have another reason for accepting bitcoin for public services. But, the side of the story that will never be temporary is the publicity they have brought on bitcoin in their countries and states. Even if the Government back off in future many citizens will continue to use bitcoin for different purposes. What matters is that new set of people are getting to know bitcoin for the first time in these countries respectively and many people will fall in love with the technology.

Amazing. I think one of the influential post I have ever read most recently which involves Government and Positivity!

Otherwise all the time forum use to hate government and how they are not accepting the crypto currencies at all. Well these are the government who are at least accepting the bitcoin for some reason. Everyone of them might have different agenda associated with the bitcoin acceptance but I am pretty sure its good one as they are straight forward in accepting it.

Already 7 in the above list and this will definitely motivate others to join in soon. Thats how bitcoin gonna survive forever.  Smiley

I think there are more of them, just need a deep research. But it is already a good start. I believe the list will be long in the coming years. As some of the states or counties are recognizing the benefits of adding crypto in their payment method, in terms of convenience to some of their constituents, they will try to add this method in their financial system. The volatility factor will be reduced if they will convert the crypto to their fiat right away. But if they want to take risk and possibly want to earn interest, the payment can remain in crypto. Either way, it is the government's prerogative what to do with their crypto stash.

This good news may be accepted by some financial observers, especially crypto currency lovers, I agree with you, these countries have started to realize that the people need this digital asset. Indeed, other countries may not have announced the official Elsalvador etc., but in one country. maybe the bank has provided for a physical money withdrawal/deposit. indeed at least (no asset buying and selling transactions are prohibited and you are free to choose the exchange) that is enough for me, not too bad,
but if more and more countries realize that this bitcoin deserves to be recognized it adds value to the satisfaction of its owners. maybe in the future it will be more than that for everyone's convenience
