Can micro ATX motherboards work for crypto mining? I've never used one before and there are few explanations about CPU  and Chipset determines the amount of PCI lanes that can work, if this true? It's pretty old and only have three pcie slots, 1 16x and two 1x slot.

Sure you can use it. I have an old intel socket 775 running with 4 RX6600xt´s without any problem.
You can also use PCIe splitters to expand the PCIe slots.

Any dual core processor will work with 3 graphics cards. I used old motherboards with intel processors with socket 775 and AMD with socket AM2 for 4 video cards, but they did not last long. I have had no problems with the RX 470-580 series and Nvidia 1xxx and 2xxx series, but I don't know how your motherboard will work with the latest AMD and Nvidia graphics cards. Need to check.

The old motherboard most probably will work but will have some limitations on the hash rate because of the very old parts that this motherboard has and surely wasn't made for mining. You can find how many max PCI lanes the processor supports in the official Intel website if you have an Intel processor by typing in google name of the processor and specs for example for a Core 2 duo E6750 "Intel E6750 specs" and it will show you all the specs. Most processors even Pentium 4,ancient ones support 3 PCIE lanes in full meaning you can use 3 cards but as I said you will find bottlenecks and limitations in the hash rate for the cards and most probably new cards like 3xxx series of Nvidia maybe won't run, talking about the 3080 specifically here.

I won't spend money on any micro ATX motherboards because they are like 10years old or something, the chance of having issues here and there is high why not buy newer motherboards for like 100$ to 150$ ?? Its not as if they are too costly like GPU, use better components to build mining rigs.

There are way too many bots in bitcointalk judging by some of the replies here which make no sense.

Micro ATX has nothing to do with age, it’s it means it’s a smaller motherboard designed to fit into a smaller case. Micro doesn’t mean it’s an old motherboard. They sell new micro atx motherboard everywhere now.

Many people buy micro ATX because they don’t want a huge desktop. Gamers and miners generally buy the regular larger sized motherboards.

Micro ATX mobo has pcie slots and those mini slots that works with risers too why are you saying it's a bad motherboard? Size doesn't matter I remember using a big HD7970 on a micro ATX mobo for gaming in 2012 as my first gaming build, they work for mining as well.

Some pretty confusing replies for sure.

Micro ATX form factor and the motherboards's age are 2 different things. The form factor has nothing to do with
mining capability. The only thing is the small size limits the number of slots.

The only issue with old PCIe is with GPUs with more than 4 GB VRAM and algos that need it, like Eth.
Make sure you can enable 4G decoding in the BIOS. RTFM or Google for details.
