I have a completely different stance on it. You are saying Social media nahh in my views the whole Web 2.0 is not at all safe. You don't have privacy here, a huge amount of misinformation, and copied and unauthentic data. My view is if we continue to stay on Web 2.0 our future generation will not be able to find real information, Reason is very simple.. Because you are not even able to control your own created content, you are dependent on the Platform whatever it is.

So buddy Social media is not the only one which is not safe the whole web system is tricky you have to be careful with it. I am not sying Web 3.0 is long live and blah bla you better know about it, I just want to say we need reforms, not only reforms actually what we need are critical reforms and it seems currently its not possible.

When they know how dangerous social media is for their privacy - then they will close all their social media accounts. But some things are also important to have social media, it is a preventive measure for impersonation on your behalf. If you have - do not post anything that you think is not safe for your privacy.

Social media is not safe - that's true, but when we don't have it then someone might be able to use it for his personal gain. So only use social media as necessary and reasonable, not to endanger privacy.

But some things are also important to have social media, it is a preventive measure for impersonation on your behalf. If you have - do not post anything that you think is not safe for your privacy.

Social media is not safe but it is very powerful. I have made some research and understood that so many children born in this time has no privacy. Even from their mother's womb, their identity has been leaked by their parents. After knowing things about social media, I wish I didn't open any social media account with my real identity name

Social media is not safe - that's true, but when we don't have it then someone might be able to use it for his personal gain. So only use social media as necessary and reasonable, not to endanger privacy.
The method in which social media is built makes it already to endanger privacy. Viewing people's status is like monitoring their lives because with a careless status update you can know much about the person.

Maybe you've heard the phrase never trust anyone you just met, you were lured into investing and opening a Binance account based on persuasion from people you know on Facebook, not from your own knowledge. Your story sounds very funny to me, you are so easy to trust people who have never met face to face with him.
Need to be careful when it comes to money, anyone would want to multiply their money more than the activities carried out. Never do anything without being based on science because it is very risky for you.

When they know how dangerous social media is for their privacy - then they will close all their social media accounts.

Because social media is not safe doesn't mean you shouldn't have a social media account. We use a lot of things that are not safe. Some part of the internet can be unsafe, buying stuff online can be unsafe, but does that mean we should no use it? Nah!
It means we just have to be smart and careful.

Take OP's story for example, he was introduced into something, he didn't research about it, he didn't ask questions from other people, he just did as he was told. This was from a total stranger.
How do you expects scammers to approach you? Like scary, ugly looking demons? Nah! They come as friends, as people who want to give an opportunity of the your lifetime.
It's okay to use social, we just have to be smart and not greedy.

It's always similar stories of fake trading site that require the victim to pay certain amount of money to be eligible to take their earning. The growth of scam in the cryptocurrency market is becoming alarming and everyone should stay careful from con artists. When chatting with a stranger it's a good technique not to stay consistent or replying their messages often. Make out two days gap before replying their DM and you'll see how fast they'll lose interest in chatting you. Op was carried away with the chats to the extent of getting persuaded, which should have been an immediate red flag, but he found out when they've already swept his money.

I'm so sorry about this incidence and I can also  relate with this incidence because I was scammed of about $150 from paxful after clicking a phising link and approved a transaction that wasn't paid but I guess i learnt  it the hard way.
This incidence  you mentioned is a very familiar  one and I've heard alot of such similar  stories and stories like this and that of the binary investment options where one of the stories that have made it very difficult for bitcoin adoption globally and recently  I read an article that my country wasn't really against Bitcoin  and cryptocurrency in general but where trying to disassociate themselves from any of it's transactions especially in fraud cases.

No social media is truly safe and not just social media but the internet space in general isn't safe and we all just always be very careful and learn not to trust anyone

This is actually a typical type of scam. When you try to request a refund they don't let you and probably they'll block your account. If you inquire about the reason for the block, they will attempt to extort more money from you promising to allow withdrawal of your funds, but instead, they'll continue to scam you until you're financially drained.

I've come across numerous investment websites employing such tactics, and I myself fell victim to one a few years ago. However, since then I've learned my lesson and refrain from investing in cloud mining sites or any similar websites. It's possible that the person from Facebook who introduced you to the site could be the one who owns it and uses it to scam people in this manner.

The essence that I can pick up here is not to let us be easily influenced and also more easily told by people we don't know. The point is like that, yes, because everyone must have certain goals that he keeps secret from everyone so that his mission might fail immediately if we ignore his orders along with these influences. Because cheaters are smart people who usually use their words more often to make everyone fall for what they say, so ignoring it would be far better than continuing to care about their mission which will ultimately harm us.

   Beware of con artists!
I was just wondering who bumped this over one year scam thread and it happens to have been you! Clearly a year and over 2months apart which should have dished this thread since November last year from the last comment before yours and that gives over 6months apart before you deemed it fit to lift it from the ashes just to remind us how social media is a place for con artists.

I don’t know but, I feel this shouldn’t have been and you ought to have let the thread get washed up with the others from it’s time as, the scheme is already polarized even though it continues to work on some not well informed people.

At times, pay heed to the warning signs not to bump an old thread.

During the covid crisis, I met a man on Facebook, who was friendly and chatty our conversation was normal,so we exchanged numbers and move to Whatsapp and share massages, After some weeks he started introducing me to crypto currency, how it works, how it been used to earn,he ask me to open a binance account, showed me on how to fund my account  he also  introduced me to his platform and persuaded me  to sign up then he showed me how to move the money to a trading platform where it will be invested. I made my first payment which I was seeing on my dashboard clearly and also how I can freely  withdraw it back to my binance account.

On the third that he persuaded me to invest more money so that I will earn bigger but I instead to see and withdraw the first investment before making or investing more but he keep on persuading me so i starting have doubts and bad feelings about it , I decided to open  the investment site to see if my money is safe and can be withdraw but when I open the investment site I found out that my trading site stopped working then I reached out to him, he asked me to contact customer service which I did and they told me that my account was blocked and I need to pay certain amount of money to unlock my funds, which I did then  I try again to withdraw my funds but i couldn't,  i contacted the customer service again they also demanded for more money, At this moment i absolutely knew that I have been scammed.

On the third that he persuaded me to invest more money so that I will earn bigger but I instead to see and withdraw the first investment before making or investing more but he keep on persuading me so i starting have doubts and bad feelings about it , I decided to open  the investment site to see if my money is safe and can be withdraw but when I open the investment site I found out that my trading site stopped working then I reached out to him, he asked me to contact customer service which I did and they told me that my account was blocked and I need to pay certain amount of money to unlock my funds, which I did then  I try again to withdraw my funds but i couldn't,  i contacted the customer service again they also demanded for more money, At this moment i absolutely knew that I have been scammed.

ignorance is the problem. how can someone who doesn't know much about investing be confident in the advice and direction of someone he just met on social media? even if he knows and has been in contact directly or only through social media, it is not feasible for us to trust them.
Social media can be very dangerous for those who are completely innocent. and social media can be a fun place for scammers to make money. we can only limit ourselves not to get trapped.

Most of it is like that, people on Facebook who introduce web mining sites by sending private messages to you, or through paid advertisements are just scam websites that will take your money if you make a deposit. it's actually an old method, but if you are tempted then it can't be saved anymore. I don't know why people who are trapped still believe in such scams, even though many warnings have been given. this is entirely up to everyone's greed so they don't see how it impacts.

The world has become so obsessed with social media that they can't stop using them even if they know very well that their private information and details are leaked when they are using them, the platforms themselves read and record everything that we do in there so that they can use this information to sell paid ads to their clients, so our privacy is totally exploited as soon as we join social media platforms, that's why we shouldn't join them in the first place if we don't want our privacy to be invaded.

If we talk about safety, I don't think you can be safe if your privacy is invaded like that, I mean, they use your words or stuff that you search and let scammers reach you through targeted ads since you have used certain keywords on the platform and they think you are interested in that stuff.

My condolences.. But, Actually not unsafe. We make it insecure. If you use Telegram if there is a notification that you don't recognize. Just block the user and don't respond. It's tempting indeed. MLM pattern is like that. the first one is always successful, and our gredy factor works. Add more with the assumption of quick profits. Yes. still can. last Yes. All in. That happened like you. Your number is blocked and the site is gone. All felt empty and regret for life.
