yes just do the math.

set s17 to 2kwatt with brains and do 50 th a day that is 8.50 a day
 
you burn 50 kwatts in a day at

10 cents it is 5 on power or 8.50-5= 3.50 profit
 9 cents it is 4.5 on power or 8.50-4.50= 4
8 cents it is 4 on power or 8.50-4=4.50 profit
7 cents it is 3.5 on power or 8.5-3.5=5.00 profit
6 cents it is 3.0 on power or 8.5-3=5.50 profit
5 cents …….. 6.00profit
4 cents…………6.50profit
3 cents…………7.00 profit
2 cents…………7.50 profit

historically when you get close to 6 cent power at breakeven the bear 🐻 is raging

we are at 17 cent as break even so we are not in a y real bear mining world.

more or less for mining it is neutral

I go to viabtc.com they say 17 cents a th so a s17 is 50 th

50 x 17 is 850 cents or $8.50 before power.

a s17 does about 2000 watts per hour 2 x 24 = 48 kwatts In a day so I round to 50kwatts used each day.

power cost is below:

50x20 cents = 10.00
50x19 cents = 9.50
50x18 cents = 9.00.     These are losing power rates right now

50x17 cents = 8.50
50x16 cents = 8.00

50x15 cents = 7.50
50x14 cents = 7.00 These would be a 1.00 to 1.50 a day profit.

50x13 cents = 6.50 These would be 2.00-3.00 a day profit
50x12 cents = 6.00
50x11 cents = 5.50


50x10 cents = 5.00 These would be 3.50 to 5.00 a day profit
50x  9 cents = 4.50
50x  8 cents = 4.00
50x  7 cents = 3.50

50x  6 cents = 3.00 These are 5.50 to 7.50 a day
50x  5 cents = 2.50
50x  4 cents = 2.00
50x  3 cents = 1.50
50x  2 cents = 1.00



so if the s17 makes 8.50 and burns 7.00 you earn 1.50 this means you must have 14 cent power

historically 14 cent power is meh for mining ⛏

10 cent is okay

8 cent is good

6 cent is better

4 cent or below is best.

If you don't want to do the manual calculation as phill did, you can always use something like https://whattomine.com/miners, just make sure you enter your power rate in the top-right corner and hit enter, and then search for the miner you want to check and the results will be fairly accurate based on current price and difficulty.

**keep in mind the power cost must be entered in dollars not cents, so if you pay 5 cents per kWh you must divide it by 100 and type 0.05.

Well if you get the s17pro on low power it does 42-44th and burns 1300 watts.

forget high setting or even normal.

1300 watts is 32 or 33 kwatts

10 cent = 3.30
09 cent = 2.97
08 cent = 2.64
07 cent = 2.31
06 cent = 1.98
05 cent = 1.65
04 cent = 1.32

44 x .06 = 2.64:earned

so an s17 pro on low makes:
 30 cents a day with 8 cents
 63 cents a day with 7 cents
 96 cents a day with 6 cents
129 cents a day with 5 cents
162 cents a day with 4 cents
 

It is worse on normal as it will burn 50 kwatts to do 52-54th

It's saddening what 1 year can change in the mining business, just picking a random number of 6 cents per KhW, a year ago the same miner made 5.5$ a day, today it hardly makes 1$ a day.

I remember when this gear first hit the market, people paid almost a whole BTC to get it, I am willing to bet that 90% of them have yet to see ROI, in fact, I highly doubt that many of those gears are still online anyway, probably most of them are dead.

This is a great example of why you should not go to an online mining calculator and make business plans accordingly as if the numbers are going to be the same forever, we will be saying the same thing a year later for gears selling today where ROI seems like 1.5 years, it's pretty crazy.
