I would also like to express my gratitude to icopress, to sponsors, and to confirm that I received (very fast) the prize from ChipMixer! I would also like to thank to all which nominated me during the contest.
It was a great contest, which needed plenty of work. I felt joy participating, same as last year, but this year I also realized how difficult can be, in fact, to organize such a contest. And I saw only a part of it! This happened after icopress asked for my help in counting the votes and I did not hesitate even one second for ensuring him of my willing to help.
But only after that I realized how much time he invested last year, and this year too, for managing all the parts of the contest(s). Counting nominations seems an easy job and it is so, in a way, as it's not like dealing with rocket science. But it requires a huge amount of hours. So although it is not hard, you do not sweat by doing it, it really needs to have plenty of hours for writing down each voter; each nomination; then counting them; marking who is not eligible to vote; then, after a while, making a double-check; then, after finishing this, making a triple-check and so on.
While doing these chores I had a revelation and only then I understood how much dedication icorepss had for creating these two contests from scratch - talking to staff, talking to sponsors, talking to helping hands (if any), creating the topics (remember, there were 3 topics created for each contest - the one for nominations, the one for discussion and the one with the quiz), creating the templates for announcing the winners... Even writing these topics, formatting the text properly, finding the funny pictures (and many other similar activities) require a lot of time, hard work and passion!
I was thrilled by his request and, I hope, he was pleased by my work.
I know, there were many vocals about "that's not fair / the other thing is not fair" etc. but the truth is that nobody can anticipate everything. All he did was his own initiative, nobody asked icopress for doing these contests and, furthermore, he did not owe anything to anybody. He wanted to make an activity for joy and, in most parts, he managed to do it -- this is why I am congratulating him again! I also believe that most of the participants felt joy and fun during the contest and, seen as a whole, this initiative was a success!
Of course, minor errors existed but lessons were learned and I am sure that next contest will please even more users! I wish I could also give a hand of help, if it will be needed.
Excepting all these, I am congratulating all winners, all nominated users and all participants!
