The value of the coin is more than you might think.  For example, right now APMEX.com would charge you $37.09 + $12.95 for this coin/case with shipping and they don't accept bitcoins.  They also won't ship orders under $50, so you wouldn't be able to make this purchase alone.

I can get American Silver Eagles locally for the same price as apmex.com (the quote right now is $37.15).

When you take into account shipping and paying in BTC, the price has not yet passed the coin's value.
