There's a Bitcoin themed bar in Mexico where locals go to have a few beers, burgers, and talk about Bitcoin with staff or other people.

They can pay their bill with Bitcoin, and there's also a Bitcoin ATM.

Another cool thing is that they regularly have Meetup events there, with different speakers.

Here's a YouTube video of one of them:

Address: Medellín 191, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Check their Instagram for events, some are live streamed: https://www.instagram.com/bitcoinemb

I find this idea very cool, and I would love to see these types of bars all around the world.

This is interesting to see a bar with bitcoin theme. Another attraction and goodness is the events. Making events with different speakers will surely give better understanding and describe the need of cryptocurrency. Being located in a region where locals use it more than foreigners it'll surely pave path for more people get into the cryptospace.

In one of my thread I've mentioned about different menu named associated with different cryptocurrencies. CRYPTO COFFEE & CRYPTO MENU. Maybe such an addition of menu will make it more interesting and attraction to the bar.

It's not new to us that there are cafe bars, convenience stores, and even supermarkets that accept Bitcoin as a payment or choosing as their theme.
If you're a Bitcoin enthusiast, you may love to visit this place if near your country and meet with others who are also interested in Bitcoin.

I found their Facebook page too, https://www.facebook.com/bitcoinemb/.
They're also very active on that account posting events and giving updates regarding upcoming activities.

Let's hope that we find a few places like this that truly admire Bitcoin, not on shitcoins.

If you're not a fan of cryptocurrencies outside of bitcoin, then the Bitcoin Embassy Bar is definitely not it. Tongue

Fascinating!

If such a themed bar was opened up in my Neighborhood or town, it would be my favorite hangout. The more Bitcoin and its use cases become common among locals, the more ordinary people will start using it as an alternative to payments and even store of value in the long term.

Yup, for sure this is a good idea for bitcoin enthusiast in your local. If only this idea will spread across in every crypto friendly countries, for sure this is one way for us to make bitcoin be known to the masses.

And it's a win-win situation for the bar owner itself, I mean people go there eat, talk and pay with bitcoin, so it's a business per se. And on the side, the narrative to push BTC around, very fascinating indeed.

I totally agree with you! This is also a great marketing move because all the crypto enthusiasts for sure would go there, especially to meet new people interested in cryptos as well. I hope this will become a trend.

Although this is great movement to encourage Bitcoin mass adoption and everyone love go to the bar to enjoy their weekend, but honestly I wouldn't go there. Everyone in the bar will supposed have Bitcoin in their phone or on his home, if there's a gangster or villain comes to the bar and asking to give them Bitcoin or seeds it will be a problem. It's different with fiat because someone wouldn't brought a lot money on bar, while Bitcoin you've access full of your coins.

Lol, what?

Then don't carry "lot of bitcoins" with you. No one is telling you to roam around with all your bitcoins. You can have multiple wallets. Carry only as much fiat currency you would have carried. So if a "gangster or a villain" (lol) attacks you, they won't be able to steal much from you. If you are supposed to get robbed, you will get robbed. Doesn't matter if you are carrying fiat or crypto currencies.

It is funny how people always try to create an excuse or find a fault when it comes to using crypto currencies.

It's really cool to see more of such places opening where the theme is crypto based like btc and other crypto logos or say menu also matching to them where crypto friendly people can roam around. There are many such places being opened up around the world but still it's joy to watch them and want to visit one of them.

Neat. It's good to see more and more people accepting BTC and other popular cryptocurrencies in this manner. Personally, I wouldn't go to such bars since I am not really interested in conversing about cryptocurrencies with other people in this manner.

I prefer staying anonymous instead. Also, these bars won't be able to survive easily for obvious reasons which is why I feel that these are risky ventures.

It is funny how people always try to create an excuse or find a fault when it comes to using crypto currencies.
True. Many people focus more on the dark side of cryptocurrencies when compared to their positive traits which is silly and dumb in my opinion.

It's on your theory and explorations in this forum. Just like how many people suggest to use non-custodial wallet, but most people still leave most of his funds on exchange.
I've saw many people have Binance application on their device with significant amounts, they carrying their device everywhere they go. I have mentioned before, carrying fiat will be robbed too, but no one will carrying all his money when they go outside.

I don't find a fault, but I give my own opinions of how dangerous people looking to Bitcoin enthusiast, the same like how they look a celebrity or billionaire.

I think this is the idea that will increase Bitcoin adoption significantly, because it targets the younger and middle income age groups ..that are the future of Bitcoin. We need innovation like this to spearhead adoption in a generation that likes to party and a generation that are technologically driven.

You cannot push Bitcoin adoption in Old aged homes, where you have people that are technologically challenged and also resistant to change. (I am not saying all old people are like that, but the majority of them do not like change and they did not grow up with technology)  Roll Eyes

Nice Idea for business to gather anonymous Bitcoin user to enjoy and have fun with others that has same ideology with them. I hope provides more details about the service of the bar especially the payment method or discount promotion for all Bitcoin payment. This kind of idea will be very hit if this will be implement by business owner in the Philippines. There's a lot of youth here that use crypto which usually hit the bar at night. This will be an awesome idea to consider and I might established my own business with this theme.  Cheesy

The first thing I thought when I saw this is that I would like to see it become generalized and start seeing bars of this style all over the world.

Although I immediately thought that there is a drawback: the regulations that consider Bitcoin as a financial asset and that make you have to declare, and if applicable, pay capital gains every time you pay for a beer or a coffee.

So, it has occurred to me to look up the legal status of cryptocurrencies in Mexico, and I see that they are not regulated specifically, but:

"Given the legal nature of the cryptocurrency, in principle, it should be considered as  movable property. It is worth noting that Mexican individuals have an annual tax exemption on  capital gains from the sale of movable property up to ~$90,000 Mexican pesos (~USD $4,000),3 which is an amount that may cover many cryptocurrency transactions, mainly when used as a  payment method."

Source: Overview of Mexico’s Crypto Taxation

What is not clear to me is whether even if below that amount is exempt, supposedly the transactions have to be declared. Although I suppose that as it is not specifically regulated, even if it has to be declared, if it is exempt, no tax official pursues people for not having declared 3 beers paid in Bitcoin.

The thing is that for Bitcoin to be used for day to day life being considered as a financial asset for which to pay capital gains, you have to establish a threshold below which capital gains are not paid and better if you do not have to declare them either.

Lol, what?
Then don't carry "lot of bitcoins" with you. No one is telling you to roam around with all your bitcoins.

I have nothing against the idea of people getting together and talking about Bitcoin, but I understand the concern expressed by @Despairo with the possible consequences that may result from it. It's not just about how much BTC you have in your mobile wallet, but also about identifying yourself in some way as someone who may have cryptocurrencies in their possession, which means they can become a potential target not only on the street or bar but also where they live.

It is funny how people always try to create an excuse or find a fault when it comes to using crypto currencies.

This is no excuse but just common sense - isn't everyone on this forum more inclined to protect their privacy - why would it be any different in real life? If you didn't know, Mexico is not a country without crime, on the contrary...

In 2020, Mexico City was the federal entity with the most crimes per 100,000 inhabitants in Mexico. That year, 53,300 crimes were registered in the Mexican capital, followed by 39,539 crimes recorded in the State of Mexico.

With all the problems that a country like Mexico has your think that SAT (the Mexican equivalent of the IRS) has the power and the resources to check bitcoin transactions? Unless we're talking about someone who get caught because of other reasons, and then we can add bitcoin to the list, I don't really see how they could find someone who spent cryptos in a pub... There are worse ways to use and spend bitcoin, finding people who use them in a pub would be the last one.

There's a Bitcoin themed bar in Mexico where locals go to have a few beers, burgers, and talk about Bitcoin with staff or other people.
~

They can pay their bill with Bitcoin, and there's also a Bitcoin ATM.
~

Another cool thing is that they regularly have Meetup events there, with different speakers.

Here's a YouTube video of one of them:

!

Thanks for the share up buddy!

It would really be good to look if this one is also available on my country too but it seems they are still in neutral phase but there are actually some merchants and establishments do accept some
particular altcoins as a mode or option for payment which is good.

Adoption and recognition is on the move and hope in future years to come it would be more rampant and would give out that convenience for us crypto users.

Then, these people should be very cautious in sharing their crypto portfolio to others. As you don't know what the others are thinking about you, it is better to keep to yourself what is your actual crypto portfolio. As others have mentioned, Mexico has high crime rate, so better secure your funds by not disclosing too much to these people. You don't know who is listening during those discussions. Don't brag what you have. Keep your head low.

If someone does something like that, he's just a stupid person, it doesn't matter wether it's related or not to a pub in Mexico. Do usually people go around saying "hey, I have 3 millions in my bank account"? No, so why should someone do the same with bitcoin or cryptos? Is there anyone here who would tell the others how many bitcoins he has? I don't think so.
