after etherium all coins will collapse. no coin can absorb so much mining power. it will all depend on how many miners will be transferred to another currency. ethereum classic will absorb most hashrate as it is a similar currency and has quite good prospects. unique solution buy the coin you are mining, only this way the coins will keep their value.

Don't buy a video card that is only good at ETH. Diversify. The RTX 3000 LHR series seems to be the best because it's equally good at all coins. The LHR will give you a 20% discount while not mattering anymore after PoS.

Where do you people get all this kind of speculation?  Roll Eyes

Are you assuming all alt coins are mined using GPU's?
Do you think all people who have been mining ETH will keep mining the other altcoins even when it's not profitable?
Obviously, some people will quit mining.

It can be ethereum classic after the mining is over for ethereum , i guess the most dosnt know that ethereum classic was the main ethereum chain but thats another story.
Oh wait you have written etherium but i think you mean ethereum right ?
Why should there collapse all coins , that makes no sense , if they switching all the mining power to another coin the difficulty goes up and you have the same as it was with ETH.

yes ethereum I meant. The difficulty will increase and the rewards will decrease but the price of the coins however I do not see it increasing to offset the profitability.

I'm surprised you mentioned XHV ( haven protocol ) because it's been a long time since this coin has turned profitable to mine, I have confidence on Ergo since it's the price is rising fast, today it's 5$ per coin, another good one is FLUX and ETC, I'm new to crypto mining but I'm not scared of decrease in mining rewards.

All your hopes will quickly collapse, because more than 80% of video cards mine Ethereum. Profit will be only for miners with modern video cards and cheap electricity. Not one of the currently known coins can accept even 20% of the current ethereum hashrate, because the profit will be close to 0.

Why do you say that??  Flux CCX and XHV give me pretty good rewards from the 3060 that i use
also all of those coins to me seem like they have a lot of potential

The only reason profit is higher than ETH or comparable to ETH on the other coins is because they're competing with ETH to attract hashrate. When ETH goes PoS, 95% of the mining rewards available for GPU's will disappear. Millions of video cards will be competing for the 5% of the block rewards that remain. Difficulty will skyrocket on the other GPU coins, so profit will crash, leading most operators to liquidate their rigs at well below MSRP. This already happened in late 2018.

Difficulty will skyrocket when people can't even pay for electricity bill anymore? Many rigs will go offline that's a certainty, who would keep mining if a 300$ gpu is giving you 0.4$ per day? Many won't be able to settle electricity bill aside they will sell GPU at loss.

Not entirely correct. GPU mining was supposed to die back in 2017 as some said but that did not come true. For the short term, it will have a significant impact on GPU mining profitability with all the hash power thrown around causing volatility. But it may ultimately settle down with a few coins, and if one blockchains has a strong/viable use case, we may have another ETH like run in our hands. Just don't go out investing in new GPUs at this time, but down shut down operations yet either.

This is exactly my view. GPU mining is NOT DEAD!! But we will have a 'forest fire' followed by a recovery in a few months. Those who buy equipment during the recession will make the most profit.

If the profit goes close to zero, I don't see why so many people will keep mining with high operational costs. Most of them will quite over time and this will lead to changes in the hashrates of different coins downwards.

So in the short term we might see an influx of previous ETH miners into other altcoins.
In the Long term, everything returns to normal or at least close to normal balance.

Exactly what I pray for, lower difficulty higher rewards but only when USD value of these coins sucks, I mean who doesn't want 1000 FLUX 5000 ravencoin etc in their wallet for long term? Lower difficulty will get you there faster.
