Video game developer Krafton announced a partnership with Solana Labs on Wednesday that could bring non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to its popular battle-royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).
South Korea-based Krafton said its plans for the Solana Labs partnership include the “development and operation of blockchain and NFT-based games and services,” according to a press release.
A source familiar with the deal told CoinDesk the partnership is a memorandum of understanding, meaning Krafton can still pull the plug on the partnership without legal repercussions.

PUBG is one of the all-time top downloaded games on the Steam platform, with an active user base in the tens of millions; it was reported to have as many as 696,000 active users playing concurrently in early 2022. The game is second in popularity in the battle-royale genre only to Epic Games' Fortnite.

This is going to be insane,   PUBG entering the nft metaverse world and bringing their millions of users along with it, some people keep saying nft is all about hype and will die soon, but everyday we keep seeing big names in the gaming industry entering the nft metaverse space to connect to blockchain and utilize its potential. Am particularly trilled about this news, am one of the million users of this game.

This is how the nft space will grow, when real gaming industries decided to take advantage of the nft space to build standard gaming experience for users. i believe these are the type of projects that will really make a difference in this space and can also make p2e worth it (if they will enable it).

Me too. Regularly playing this game even if this is not so popular like a few years ago but so many updates already happened. This is an amazing partnership. Crypto industry become even bigger from time to the another time.

This is amazing. I can imagine when i can buy my favorite clothes in pubg and i will become an NFT owner of it. I guess the weapon skin will become NFT as well. I just wanna see this to happen soon. That's enough with so many NFT that was not doing a proper development. We need HD game like this to be integrated with NFT

Krafton must realize if they must make some innovations to bring back the players again. Crypto users have become potential place to grab some demands for their game again. So many games released and that makes the competition became even more difficult.

Im not sure about this but this quite different than play to earn. I meant PUBG is stating that if the company want to integrate its game with NFT and it doesn't mention if pubg will be adopting the play to earn mechanism.

I doubt if there will be a play to earn mechanism once pubg will be adopting NFT. We know that so well if NFT can relate with the in game item that can be traded between the player or something like that.

When I see comments like that I just know they are probably not up to date with what is happening in the metaverse ecosystem, how big gaming companies and non gaming companies are rapidly embracing nft, the trend is so popular that every time there is news about a big brand owning their nft or filing a trade mark for their nft, it is insane.

Seeing this PUBG news confirmed what is being said about the metaverse ecosystem, it is just getting started, this space will be very successful in the future.

I would guess that they would deal with something totally different. We are not going to see PUBG game having NFT type of stuff, all those skins and weapons and clothes and what not can't be turned to NFT that easily when the game has been out there for so many years already.

I am sure that they are bothered by the fact that they lost so many customers, they were once upon a time one of the most actively played game and they lost that to other games, even fortnight is probably not at the top right now. But at the end of the day people need to realize you can't just expect these places to add NFT right away. It will probably a new game with NFT in it.

i also heard that UBisoft or the big player for Triple A game like farcry also join and considering adopt NFT even tho so many hates at this point but i do believe slow but sure many big studio will join crypto industry and i hope that happening soon

I think it's too early to talk about this. This field holds a lot of potential, but from a user perspective, I completely believe that many gamers still don't understand what NFT blockchain concepts are. This also doesn't show that, given the fact that previous player data will reach the new realm of blockchain, I see a lot of re-examination of this opinion. The future NFT field will be developed for the P2E metaverse niche, so it's only a matter of time before the leading companies in the gaming industry do with it.

It's crazy not to play when the PUBG game lovers play the game with millions of users who have fallen in love with the PUBG game and even now they don't hesitate to join the NFT metaverse game and I believe this really encourages the development of the Solana project in the future to be better known  many more people.

The krafton partnership with solana could be major boost to the prices and more development of the ecosystem but the problem with the network is it often shutdown and this could hinder the smooth gameplay but will see how this deal would go on.The userbase for Solana and Pubg is huge at this time and they will take advantage of these NFT integration to next level making some big moves to capture the share of market.

It is clearly stated on the quote above - "that could bring non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to its popular battle-royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)". so if this partnership is honored and they went ahead with it, the nft that will be developed will be integrated into playerunknown battleground (pubg).
The partnership may be MOU which means Krafton can cancel at anytime but i feel this type of announcement will not be made to pull out later, am sure they will make it happen and work to develop the nft.

But unfortunately PUBG game players don't really understand blockchain technology, they are just game lovers. The power of the NFT space is not just for pictures and artist but for gaming companies who will start launching their dedicated in game collectables and then all the sports entities will start launching their exclusive NFT, especially companies like major Football leagues, Basketball leagues, UFC and even sports entertainment Wwe will be launching their NFT in the coming years.

This sounds good but it would be good if i will be seeing NFT will be going to the PUBG in all of platforms. We do know that these days the demand for the PUBG PC is not so big. It can be said majority are playing PUBG mobile but it's on the different hand as it's handled by tencent.

It may be both. This is consider from the statement that already stated in the article above. The NFT could be implemented to the PUBG but you must also remember that this partnership is not having legal statement.. that means if any parties from both can't cancel this partnership.
