For those who don't know the story, 79k bitcoins were sent to this address 11 years ago, in 2011, and they were never moved, not a single dollar.
It is said that they were stolen from Mt Gox, Craig Wright claims that he bought them from Mt Gox (he is also claiming that he is satoshi, I think he is a big scammer).
What do you think, or know, about this address and the person that got these bitcoins? Do you believe that they are permanently lost, or are hodled? Dumbest thief ever?

The first ‎79,956 BTC where deposited into the address on the 1st March 2011. Mt. Gox major hack came in around June 2011 according to Wikipedia

So the Mt Gox story is ruled out.

Well I believed that this has been lost a long time ago and this is not owned by CW who is a liar and impersonator.
Many people here know that man very well, dumbest thief? --sounds better to and deserves to ignore whatever claim it is, this man always telling a lie and promoting his own shitcoin and comparing that the number one than bitcoin and promoting his own coin for the benefits on its own.

Then I will believe that CW is the owner if that address if that ever happen. Yeah, CW is a big liar who doesn't deserve any attention. I found it crazy too that people send BTC to this address, just why? But we must be grateful. As satoshi said: "Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone.". Anyway only around 1 Bitcoin was sent to this address in 11 years, so it's not a big deal .

It could simply be someone who bought them for a few cents each one and then who knows, maybe he died, or maybe he simply lost access to the the wallet. Many people stored bitcoins on old hard disks that eventually they threw in the trash. Some guy in Wales has been looking for his hard disk in a dumpster for years now...

Chances are, it's an abandoned wallet since the dawn of Bitcoin, perhaps someone who sold/lost his personal files/HDD and no longer has access to the wallet. Whether we like it or not, this simple scenario could be the most dominant one.

Those bitcoins are almost certainly lost for good as the hard drive would likely be irredeemably damaged by now even if it was found, which is an impossible feat as well.
The current case which the OP is discussing could still b a wallet which someone has access to, so it can't be determined that they are lost.

I wouldn't bother too much with these addresses. Even if the coins are lost, it may mean that in the future, the remaining coins will have more value because the actual supply just shrunk. So, if in one hand, the total supply decreases a bit, the value will increase a bit too.

And also HODL is the best we can do. So if those coins do still have a owner, and he understands Bitcoin, he won't sell them in a near future!

That's my old wallet, I bought the coins in 2009 from a pop up for investments ,I obviously never heard of Bitcoin but who would of in 2009.
I forgot about them because I've been driving interstate semis and the amount of money I spent on the Bitcoins ,you just kinda forget .
I bought a new iPhone cause Ive always used the old cheap Nokia's ,I saw Bitcoin price and started looking into it ,I actually wasn't even sure if I did buy Bitcoins or just registered and made the dat file on my computer then I saw the dormant wallets and it took a week to realise 1fee was mine.cause I recognised the V6 in the address because I had a V6 car back then.
