I heard you can burst a project by asking questions, if they are hiding something they won't be able to answer all questions thrown at them, is this true? What questions can one ask a project dev or team to know if they are up to something good or bad?

Before any projects developers start introducing the project I believe they have gone into deep research and have every knowledge about that project, for me I don't think asking a question can make you detect if that project is good or bad, many bad projects have developed different skills and they have also mastered the mind of humans, when asking a question they know the angle which you are coming from. the best way is to stay off any online business you know nothing about especially on social media and YouTube influencers because so many bad projects have overshadow the good projects and even if you want to try always invest on something you can afford to lose.

Nope, pretty sure they will block/ban you in their social media since they don't want to let anyone know their shady project. Your valid/legit questions will become useless as your reply will be deleted, almost projects will do like this since they think you're FUD spreader/troll. But, you need to really understand the technical thing, if not you wouldn't have any idea how their coins work etc.

Yes, you can choose to ask them reasonable questions till they have no prove for it, that is if you also know it well and you're well convinced about what you know.

No, because some of those fake project have the knowledge even more than you and they are ready to provide you with answers to every of your questions, even though some might be lies and wrong answer unknowingly to you.

What questions can one ask a project dev or team to know if they are up to something good or bad?

My best answer and recommendations on this is to carry your own research all by yourself. and am going to list you the items to be on a look for

1. Name and sponsors of the project
2. Registration details
3. Site domain address and physical office location
4. History of past projects
5. liquidity and market cap for the project
6. purpose for the project
7. ICO, ROI
8. Online reviews
9. Policy and privacy statement
10. Run a check on their web using "scan a web" or any other recommended web checker.

Well, that is usually happening here in the forum in gambling sections. Once the announcement thread is a self-moderated thread it means they delete those legitimate questions and avoided them to answer. It is very to spot very shady projects, they avoid discussing legitimate questions and they only talk about the rising money, not the project itself and how it becomes useful in the future. Online review from a good community like this forum is a good start for them, developers could easily spot bugs through the different reviewers.

I mean, this literally works with anything like businesses or even people in general. You ask project teams questions concerning an actual criticism of yours, not that you're just going to just blabber up questions to confuse them or whatnot.

It depends on the nature of the scam. Many scammers are lazy and therefore will not have a coherent story about their project. They carry out plagiarism, impersonation and always try to make false promises.
However, history and facts have proven that some scammers are smart, did everything correct and thus were not discovered, so detecting scam is sometimes close to impossible if scammer are smart, and this does not apply to about 95% of projects.

But the questions are:

 - return on investment?
 - future plans?
 - The developer team?
 - Constant updates?
 - work map?
 - Legal records? licenses?

It really depends on the scam. While some scamers are lazy and unintelligent, some are smart and intelligent. The unintelligent ones can just launch a scam project and only them be behind the screen to scam people and these category of scammers are easily bursted. While some smart guys creates a team of experts, yes they can hire experts to defend the scam project and even show some signs of genuineness before they will unleash the scam.

Then, having a laid down questions does not solve the problem, this is because they can decide not to be static, then you have to readjust and follow them in dynamics. So, it is needful that you have a comprehensive information about good and bad project attributes.

Depends on what type of questions were you asking. If it is an obvious scam, just like what others mentioned in here, it could lead to a blocking you whatever communication medium were you using. They can still straight up lie to you with either falsified conclusions or even statistics.
You can ask a project dev about their Github repo as well. You don't need to know how to code to see how active the project is as there is an indicator of the activities inside the project there shaded by green.

@OP almost all quest are been discuss by @hugeblack and this is already good points to be ask on the dev team or to their representative since if they cannot show valid points towards this question and they hide something like the identity of their team also about their work map I believe that is roadmap then this is huge red flag to us.

Scammers are so tricky so beware on promising words and to good to be true ROI promised to their investors.

But the questions are:

 - return on investment?
 - future plans?
 - The developer team?
 - Constant updates?
 - work map?
 - Legal records? licenses?

Well, if they ban users or delete their comments just because they ask some legit questions then this is pretty much all you need to be sure they are either scammers or, at best, they are incompetent and therefore can't run a successful project. In both cases, you should stay away from them and don't invest your money in their project no matter how promising it may look.

Asking anything related to their project can convince investors whether to invest or not, though question should be valid and indicates the ideas properly. If you find some misleading points it can be a away to turn down that project. However dev nowadays already research and maybe practice answering possible questions. To be able to know the project better do a research about the team, devs and development they were upto. Here comes alwasy the DYOR and probably as it in their Q&A to calm yourself if you will made a good move on investing in it.
Well, I think it depends whether you find their Q&A or FAQ convincing but if what they did is different from what they've written on their FAQ then you will know for sure that they were kind of like shady. Plus, if you try to expose it they will just block or delete your comments and how would you do that to all who participated in their project? Although, I believe there are sites also that will pop out once you try to research about them giving legit review but also we should be very wary because sometimes there are trolls who would like to make a fake news and black propaganda.

I guess the best way to really scrutinize a project is if you read detail by detail its whitepaper. The whitepaper is everything about the project. Questions will be asked after finding certain details that seem impossible to work or somehow disadvantageous to token holders or community members. In other words, follow-up or probing questions are probably harder to answer. These are the questions that could probably reveal a project's true color. The devil is in the details, as they say.

But be careful when you stir up the hornet's nest, you could easily be censored.

But, you need to really understand the technical thing, if not you wouldn't have any idea how their coins work etc.

If you ask questions from their whitepaper then I do not think they will ban you or delete your question. If they do ban you then you know that the project is not good for investment. All questions should be related to the project and should be linked from the whitepaper, about the roadmap and about the team. If you ask anything else then they would term it as FUD and repeatedly asking the same thing will result in a ban or a temp mute on their social media channels.

I heard you can burst a project by asking questions, if they are hiding something they won't be able to answer all questions thrown at them, is this true? What questions can one ask a project dev or team to know if they are up to something good or bad?

To an extent, it is possible if your questions are related to the project. It is highly unlikely that they will not be able to answer your question if you stick to the project. If you start comparing it with other projects then they might term it as FUD. I have not seen anyone able to burst a project by asking questions. You can only find a flaw in a project if you read the whitepaper carefully and find more details about the team if they are not anoymous.

You can ask any question you want. There is freedom of speech for everyone, especially on the Internet, in crypto. But it's worth to note that based on moral principles, asking questions should be constructive and authentic. If your questions are made because you want to create FUD, it's bad and unacceptable in moral aspect.

Quote
What questions can one ask a project dev or team to know if they are up to something good or bad?
If you are an authentic member, your questions should be constructive then it will be helpful not only for yourself (to clear your mind about that specific project) but also can help other members in that project community. In addition, sometimes your questions are helpful for developer team or marketing team in that project to improve their project and their strategy.

If a part of your interrogations and asking is to further know their intentions and legitimacy check, they will shut you down and never entertain you again. They will welcome questions that could even help them become famous, like just all about praises. Asking them in regards to scam issues as an example, never expect that your conversation will take longer.
The assessment can't just be done through asking, it sometimes just show up based on their performance and transparency.

Perhaps, it is our right to know their legitimacy and really be the concern of the people but sometimes, these scam projects will certainly decline any queries that will question their legality. They keep silent.

I heard you can burst a project by asking questions, if they are hiding something they won't be able to answer all questions thrown at them, is this true?
Yes, that's true.

I've read of that before that when they're trying to ask serious questions on the Telegram of that project and the staff there can no longer answer and were likely pissed, they've been blocked.

What questions can one ask a project dev or team to know if they are up to something good or bad?
Just ask the normal and serious questions, there are no specific questions needed. It's just the typical questions that someone is curious of knowing whether they have good or bad plans for the future.

It depends on what you mean by "project", it is just too broad a definition.
For example is it a service or an investment plan? Or is it just a new cryptocurrency?
I'm going to focus on the second one since it looks like others covered the first.

In a new cryptocurrency project, you need to first have an understanding of the technology yourself before you can ask good questions and more importantly to be able to figure out if the answer you received was nonsense technobabble or was it a correct answer. For example if you ask a shitcoin like ethereum dev why they are forking to a different mining algorithm they will give you nonsense answer that if you don't have the technical understanding of things it would look like a convincing reply!
