Hi all,

I switched from Windows 10 to Linux Manjaro and now I want to install Armory but am not sure what the best approach is to do so. Armory is available in package repository AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/armory) and also directly from the website. Is it secure to use the package manager AUR to install Armory or do you recommend to download it directly from the armory webpage? Who maintains the package in AUR? Is it updated regularly?
Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Actually never heard of that link here on the forum so it's not recommended to install the package repository from an unknown source only download Armory wallet directly from their official website.

You can follow the guide from this link on how to build Armory From Source

Or just download the Linux version here https://btcarmory.com/0.96.5-release/

Thanks for your reply BitMaxz, I run Manjaro (non debian system) so I have to compile the source file for Armory first. Any advises on a good tutorial how to do that?

Who maintains the package in AUR? Is it updated regularly?
The user goes by the name "jon", while the current main developer is "goatpig".
It was updated to the latest version quite late but it's an unnecessary worry since Armory has been stuck in that version (0.96.5) for some years.

BTW,
Here's the official source: https://github.com/goatpig/BitcoinArmory | Go to "Releases" and download the source code.
It also contains the build instructions for Linux: https://github.com/goatpig/BitcoinArmory/blob/master/linuxbuild/Linux_build_notes.md

There is no official packages for pacman/pamac. I don't know who made the AUR package. I do know it wasn't anyone officially involved with Armory. Take that for what it's worth.

Since Armory 0.96.5 needs py2 and qt4, you are unlikely to get it to run on Manjaro without installing those old packages. Maybe there's a solution with pipenv? Otherwise you could try and build the py3/qt5 version. I recently added backwards compatible unsigned transactions, so you can create the tx with modern Armory and sign it with your old offline setup.
