Is the IQ test really necessary?

I was surprised when today I wanted to start posting answers in a thread I was asked to answer questions such as IQ tests before I posted.
and I started to find out what was going on.
and it turns out that theymos has implemented a new regulation or system, namely "IQ testing now required before posting" ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5392430.0 )

and I see the members are divided into 4 parts in responding or responding to this new system.
that is :

1. people who accept and don't mind
2. people who object but still accept
3. people who object and do not accept
4. neutral person

where do you belong?
And in your opinion, is this IQ test necessary?

What IQ test? You must have done something wrong if you need to pass a test. Have you ever posted whiled drinking? Posted without a valid license? Posted after brushing your teeth?

indeed the spammers will be in trouble with this system. I think the same as you.
and maybe now is the right time to implement this iq test system. because maybe you are also aware of the increasing number of spammer accounts which of course need to be filtered or selected. and I think theymos is really a genius for implementing this system at the right time which is now.
but I also think that this could be pointless and a waste of time. because fake accounts will search for answers from tests on google so they will still pass.
and difficult answers can be replaced by refreshing the page.

Of course it's totally necessary, are you nuts? One of the best ways of improving the quality of this beloved forum is to have a quick check on how smart/dumb the posters are. And literally anyone that has an IQ below mine definitely deserves to be permanently banned!

I do not have an issue with the IQ test. This will remove a lot of active bots from the forum and also it will improve the level of posting. There are many who create unnecessary topics and post irrelevant answers that only increase the spam level. IQ test will stop those activities. I would say it is a great initiative by Theymos on 1st April.

I don't think it's a waste of time. because a writer who doesn't know the answer doesn't hurt them to search on google and learn to find the right answer.

it can make the writer smarter unconsciously.
they study hard. imagine a day you make 10 posts. and that means you answered 10 questions on the IQ test. and if you don't know the answer then you search and study it on google. which means you study 10 times and answer questions 10 times. Wouldn't you be smart if you continued like that?

Your quality as a writer will be better because your insight will increase every time you answer a question.

The IQ test is obviously part of an April fools day joke.

The questions are not bitcoin related, so the usefulness of the test is limited. I do like the concept of showing others a general idea as to how knowledgeable someone is when showing their posts.

I do not know what is the source of questions, but I think it is much much better than captcha.
There is also a place for more annoying improvement - question is hidden, you 'click' to open it and then you have limited time to answer.

BTW is not a really IQ test, it is more a general knowledge test.

For me it is, mind conditioning but not necessary. Its quite embarrasing though that our IQ is display in our profile. What if we got a really low figures.

Actually it quite helpful for us to increase our knowledge and also prevent spammer too. I wonder if this will be done here in forum and if the answer is wrong you cant post for certain time but obviously this is just for todays event.

And, remember what theymos said if you've got only 120 IQ test scores after April Fool's Day end, you will be subjected to ban, and surely the ban hammer will directly hit into your account.
