Would the IQ test have made the forum better?

On April fools day (2021), we saw theymos include the IQ test and try to fool those who forgot that on the first day of April each year, you shouldn't take everything you read so seriously especially early in the morning of that day. I've been thinking, if that had become the new development that everyone needed to run an IQ test before making a post, would it have made the forum better with more quality contents?

That could be a good addition but that questions can be search on Google, so I don’t see the essence of that if the users can answer the questions by just getting the answer into somewhere else.

Beside, we cannot expect everyone here to have a higher IQ. The purpose of this forum is also to educate and give information about cryptocurrency, how can we expect newbies to survive on this if that questions will be implemented?

Don't take too seriously about the IQ test, it is only a surprise on April fool. You must know if the IQ test will be very bothering if theymos really applies it to our forum. The process to make a post or even edit a post was a bit complicated, must fix the IQ test question every making an action. I think we don't need to make it more complicated, just make it be as simple as usual.

Honestly, those kinds of questions are easy to cheat cause  it's all searchable on Google/ any kind of internet use. And the rules of that when your I'm a dropped into 120 or less you are probably going to ban and then for sure if that's will happen we try our best to get out IQ high so if we don't know the answer  I think we can not avoid the temptation and start searching in order to live in this forum.

That is good addition to be exact as we can learn new things since we can work out our minds to search in google some new information to learn things that we didn't know. And I don't find those as April fools joke since for me what made on April 1 on this forum is information day since many forum users became more resourceful for finding the right answer on what question ask to them before they post.

Let's move on from this April Fool's entry which we all know won't happen because that is an easy requirement, and doesn't help to promote quality in the forum because it can easily be cheat, though the effort to answer that question is there but its not worth it because the answer came from the other sources.

Merit works fine right now, many are still having a hard time to rank up, that could be enough for now and there's no need to add more requirements to rank up.

Well, i have fun with it and get more educated, but i don't think its necessary for this forum because as we can see most of the trivial questions are not even related to crypto. So it does not guarantee to make all of us a good and quality posters in this forum.

For me, the merits system is already good enough. Some have still find it hard to get merits from their post, and i don't think the IQ test will help us to get merits.

Yeah you could write in a note app or smth beforehand but it's just unnecessary. It's Internet forum for chit-chat on cryptos, let it be.

I do not think it's a good idea. Sometimes it takes time to answer a post, and you still need to set aside extra time to answer questions, as determined by your level of mind. This can be annoying. I did not participate in the party on April 1, and probably I did not understand something, what is the fun and joy, but at the moment, I think that many would be scared away from the forum. At a time when we already see a small flow of registrations and real newcomers to the forum.
I believe that for his education, a person allocates time on his own, and thereby studies in detail everything that can be useful to him. There is no need to apply and impose training everywhere.

If you know how to search Google then you can easily crack the IQ test. Personally I feel once a while such events can be organised but you cannot implement it permanently to make the forum better. Implementing it permanently would discourage actual human being to join the forum. It will also increase the posting time and people after replying need to find correct answer and maintain a point of 120 or more.

No. What I noticed was that the questions are not even related to bitcoin, I mean the ones I saw which I think would be similar or the same with the ones other members saw as well. This is bitcoin forum, so I do not see how it will improve this forum. But if it is bitcoin related, it can help people in learning more about bitcoin after not knowing the questions but search for it online and get answers to every question asked. But, yet, I do not see how this would make this forum better at all with IQ questions, it won't.

What has been helping this forum effectively is the merit system that was introduced in 2018. Merit system is enough to make members of this forum to be serious because their Bitcointalk account would not grow but stagnant if not making quality posts.

Even if people are unable to click on 'post' to post new post unless they answer those IQ questions, it will becoming irritating and frustrating. If people must answer the questions correctly, it will slower how people are posting on this forum unlike just reading a post and replying to it.

Is the IQ test the only tool for assessing someone's intelligence, and if so, what about the totality of someone's character or his life experiences and skills that goes into making a person, well, a person? If it is the only test to determine intelligence, isn't it kind of a superficial measurement? Anecdotally, I know some people whose IQ test scores fell short of being in the normal range, but they've often been some of the most successful people in their careers.

My own impression is that IQ tests for preschoolers and younger kids might be a good idea. But for adults, they are not necessarily the right test. That is because IQ tests are good at quantifying abstract thinking, but not as good at concrete thinking; in other words, it is hard to generalize the scores for a whole range of people.

In fact as of April 1st there are a lot of users trying to increase their IQ points by searching for correct answers on google etc and at least improving some user knowledge in short term. After that though, I don't think it will have much impact on the forum as spammers and lazy people won't have much time to read.

I don't think there will be a huge impact on forum user post quality once the IQ test is over, but the forum is constantly trying to get better with fewer spammers. So far the merit system has been useful enough to prevent spam posters from ranking up, but still can't prevent users from posting spam. However I think the OP already has the right answer to the question and maybe this is it.

Nope, it wouldn't make forum better. First of all, it wasn't IQ test actually. It was just some test which check knowledge of history, geography and other stuff. IQ test looksa bit different. And I don't see point of such knowledge testing when you can bypass it by checking answer on Google. If there would be real IQ test without a way to bypass it, it wouldn't be bad idea. But it should be made not before every post, but before making account.

You want to force everyone to pass a whole IQ test just to make 1 post, or to answer one single question to be able to make a post?
As there are no time limits and everyone knows how to use google, such Aprils fool IQ test wont show real education level or forum members. And isnt IQ test is to test your logic, not knowledge of history (based on question here)? One can be bad at history, but good a maths, and excellent at coding, and has a Gods degree in blockchain, wallets and etc.

it probably would if the questions were Bitcoin or related to cryptocurrency(OgNasty suggested it in his reply to one of my posts). but I would remove the IQ points since it will just be unnecessary(at least in my opinion). being presented with random questions regarding cryptocurrency could encourage newbies or old members to look it up and learn new things from it. I think it is a win-win situation for the forum and the people who use it.

I definitely see no quintessential role the IQ test had or have to play for the betterment of the forum, for all the questions that I came across had no connection with cryptocurrency enlightenment as that would have been a benefit especially to newbie's and members rank users,  as it may have foster or add to their knowledge about the system.

The IQ test was another time consuming. You are still going to think the content of your post, and then you also have to research the right answer to that certain question. That means, you need to focus on them both so you can come up with correct answers. Although its quite informative, but at the end of the day, we should not forget the reason why we are here, to contribute a good discussion about crypto, and everything we see in the IQ test are not related to crypto. So for me, its very unnecessary.

Implementing the IQ system could make people to feel unironically annoyed after sometime, after all I am quite sure many of the users participate here during their spare time after a day of work/collegue, who would like to get asked those questions in order to post while seeking to have a chill moment participating on the forum?

Besides, those IQ test questions had nothing to do with Bitcoin or blockchain technology, only a couple I received had to do with Biology and Math, the rest were United States geography, not my forté.

Ohh Yeah, but should be directed to newbies and Junior members.
But strictly Bitcoin related questions, many are not well groomed about the bitcoin forum, so it's best they come get experience, can be very hard at times for a newbie that has no idea about Bitcoin, lightning network and the Bitcoin Core and Technical aspect.

But shouldn't lead to a ban for failing though
