It's been a while that I've know what bitcoin is all about and I did bought few two years ago, now I want to explore more possibilities in crypto and I know that some use cases are still missing or maybe I just can't find the right info so here is my first question and my first topic on this forum..

Is there any blockchain OS project available? The most interesting part about Blockchain/Crypto is the Decentralized part, my thought is what if a windows OS like project is available on Blockchain? Imagine running a Linux OS or Windows OS for browsing that's actually Decentralised.

A blockchain is a distributed database whose units of data are considered non-interchangeable. It was created to solve double-spending, but due to its immutability, it enabled other protocols to use its security properties for storing small amounts of data.

A computer operating system, such as Windows or Linux, has nothing to do with it. You've confused it with something else or you've misunderstood the whole concept completely.

I think it's possible, I've seen a project before that has a separate OS you can run on your PC just like running Linux OS but it's not complete yet, 🤔 I've forgotten it's name, also Cartesi is planning the same OS to link with Linux OS but with full blockchain capability

From my understanding, what's explained there with a lost of unnecessary buzz words is operating system linked to a blockchain that will allow or not your operations, based on your account level and how much you paid for using that OS.
That's imho an unnecessary use for blockchain.
* If it's a proper (public, decentralized) PoW blockchain, I don't want to wait for a new block to be mined to allow me start calc.exe (and I won't even discuss about who is paying the miners for the job!)
* If it's a private blockchain, a simple database would have been faster.

Imagine running a Linux OS or Windows OS for browsing that's actually Decentralised.

Well, the internet is more or less decentralized even now and you can browse it.

If you can't wait until Microsoft will charge you for every move of your mouse... all I'd say is that you have strange tastes.
If you can't wait until your smartphone will record on blockchain, forever, everything you do on the phone, .. well, I've said it already.


TL;DR; Imho that's not the proper/normal/expected use for a blockchain; as @BlackHatCoiner correctly said it, blockchain is just a special database.

I'm not sure I understood what I just read. It just says that the blockchain technology goes beyond the payment processing system to something even more innovative. Is it trying to imply that local execution isn't good and everything should be done in public? I really don't know. Why should I use an OS that captures my commands and broadcasts them to the world?

It contains lots of buzzwords, to be honest, such as "decentralized use of OS" and "distributed ledger technology" which discourages me to search that up. Also, that doesn't make sense:

The same concept is extended to the use of a blockchain for device OS, where its use for working as an operating system is seen as a more efficient OS.

Wherever there's a blockchain, one thing's sure: Inefficiency.
