NIGERIANS AND AFRICANS NEEDS THIS

I bring you greetings from Nigeria!

I write in response to the recent development in the forum, Nigerians and Africans alike. Nigeria stands the giant of Africa although, we have our flaws but, in the scale of things, we stand to represent most of the African nations in the forum and have been increasingly active on the forum. Cryptocurrency is growing at a fast pace in Africa with Nigeria as one of the largest economy on the continent, producing some significant results in the field. Africa as a continent comprises of 54 member nations of which, most of them came off the British colonies and as such, have adopted some form of English derived language known as PIGHIN (Nigerian Pighin) as a common tongue that varies per nation though relative. It becomes sad that, no African nation has a local board on the forum admist requirements met. It becomes a win situation for the forum to award a local board to the most populous and crypto involved nation of Africa forum-wise and the world, on the forum. As, it would accommodate not just Nigerians but could as well adopt other African nations that speaks and understands the Pighin language.

There have been a request for the Nigerian Local Board on the forum here on meta Request for Nigeria Local Board (By Charles-Tim and was temporarily locked by OP to give room for ther discussions and its only right to bring it up periodically. The Nigerian community has been one of the most active on the forum with its members gaining awareness and growing in numbers as well as profiling in the ranks too. That you could observe on the stats on this thread [CHARTS] Monthly Overview Of The Unofficial Nigeria Local Board📈 (Created and Update periodically by Igehhh [Begging your pardon, the stats didn't consider Newbie Users]) and you can accord some of these activeness to have come off the win that came off the success of this thread Request for pinned Nigeria Local thread which resulted in the pinning of the Nigerian hangout Nigeria (Naija) (Thread created and moderated by Cryptoprenuerbrainboss) in the other languages board. As a result, it got more popularity and activities on the forum too. I can assure you, we could get even more with the accreditation of a Nigerian Local Board as, there are more Nigerians yet to find there way to the hangout as we have it now.

In the just complete award winning and recognition exercise in the forum [Results 2021] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 organised by icopress, revered in the forum for which users actively participated in the exercise. Our plight a Local Board came off the category, Fail of the year. A category for which the Nigerian Local Board creation came 5th in a roughly 1:5 voting ratio to the first place in that category. A deduction from the stats as collated by GazetaBitcoin found here Voting Results, Full List. Its not very impressive at all for it to have come up at all and could be kicked off that list on the part of the forum.

I could go on and on but, its sure to make a boring read sooner than later but, this is my plea, our plea as Nigerians and Africans alike on the forum to Theymos and whom ever vested with the power to make this happen, to see reasons with our request. One of the challenges we have now is he grouping of our topics/subjects for effective/exhaustive discussion as sometimes, that gets flushed rather too quickly.

Help Nigerians and Africans to find home on the forum, to discuss home and the growing field in our new world order.

Some useful Threads to this course:
[1] Nigeria (Naija)
[2] Request for Nigeria Local Board
[3] [CHARTS] Monthly Overview Of The Unofficial Nigeria Local Board📈

Best,

One of the challenges we have now is he grouping of our topics/subjects for effective/exhaustive discussion as sometimes, that gets flushed rather too quickly.
That is the major problem of having to discuss in a local thread rather than a local board, in the former, discussions are more or less in a somewhat haphazard manner as there are one too many discussions going on at exactly the same time or with little time difference between them, this makes the thread kind of messy and not really encouraging to communicate in, but in the latter, with active moderation all discussions would fall into their respective child boards and that creates a sort of 'harmony' while discussing Bitcoin and other issues that will be up for discussion.

This very issue is likewise affecting the Nigerian local thread, and since there is good activity on the thread, with good users making good posts, the time is prolly right for a Nigerian local board; it is still up to Theymos to make the final decision though, thus in the meantime all we can do is wait, and give him reasons to affirm to it.

Good job mate, am not fully acquitted with the requirements for local board creation, but I think we the Nigerian community are most deserving of a local board this is evidenced in the level of Bitcoin adoption by the 9ja youths and the 2021 statistics has shown Nigeria to be the highest in cryptocurrency transactions and adoption in Africa and globally this is made possible by Nigerians between the age of 20 to 40 years who are the youths.
9ja the Giant of Africa
Checking through population statistics Nigeria happens to be the highest in terms of population in Africa and also the highest in cryptocurrency adoption, Nigerian have played a significant positive role in the development and adoption of Bitcoin/cryptocurrency and this has been shown in the level of crypto adoption by Nigeria youths. One of the significant events that show youth adoption of Bitcoin was the End sars protest where Bitcoin was adopted by the protesters for donations globally, this has shown a high level of confidence in Bitcoin's decentralized nature from Nigerian youths who are limited by government autocratic approach to the economic faith of it citizens the youths have taken it upon themselves to make the change happen and Bitcoin/cryptocurrency is the way out.  @Theymos this is a plead for 9ja local board please act according to the discretion of your office to see that j9a youths are given a voice on this forum by creating a local board for Nigerians on this forum so that our voice can be hard and recognized.

It’s high time we revisit this application. SmartVirus comments highlight the views of all Nigerians on the forum. We get a lot of activity on our local threads even though it is kind of hidden and difficult to find. Discussions are scattered because one person may be talking politics and another brings a discussion about latest development of bitcoin in Africa, it’s a mess and a lot of hard work to make it not look like a mess. I had hoped the community awards would help remind the forum we are still here.

you can accord some of these activeness to have come off the win that came off the success of this thread Request for pinned Nigeria Local thread which resulted in the pinning of the Nigerian hangout Nigeria (Naija) (Thread created and moderated by Cryptoprenuerbrainboss) in the other languages board.
Never mind this, just a correction. The other languages/locations board is moderated by Cyrus, which means Nigerians local thread which is a thread on the board is moderated by Cyrus. When the thread was pinned, mprep and some other moderators like Mr. Big started been actively moderating the local thread, especially mprep which actively is available if a user is constantly make consecutive posts. I understood that CryptopreneurBrainboss created the thread, which was self-moderated. This only means that the thread belongs to Brainboss and can do whatever he likes to the thread, but he is not like that, we vote and follow principles, but I wonder what would happen if Brainboss's account is compromised (which I wish not to happen) and the self-moderated thread is deleted. That would be all to all efforts we have on the local thread. This is just my opinion about this.

Above all, it would be nice if theymos gives Nigerians what we have been seeking for. I know so far we can achieve the local thread being pinned, we can also one day achieve having a local board. What is discouraging about posting on a single thread created for a local community is the discussion of 1, 2 or more topics together in just a post which makes it not to be well specific to different threads which is frustrating at times.

Nice one, @smartvirus. Sorry I lack merit to splash on this thread of yours for jolting Nigerians on the forum back to the reality of their pursuit of a local board. As the most populous Africa country, Nigeria parades an enviable number of crypto lovers and traders in the world regardless of the obnoxious attitude of our political leaders to discourage crypto activities in the country. A local board for Nigeria will, inarguably, be a plus for this forum. We are an active lot. There's no gainsaying that as our activities here have proved it.

Charles-Tim, I don't know why your thread "Request for Nigeria Local Board" was locked. Perhaps, it was done by you or a mod? I had tried a few times I remembered to bump it but it was still locked.

Suggested by other reputed Nigerians on this forum, so that it will not be like we are in haste to get a local board and to avoid spam. So if it is on request that I locked it, it would also be on request when I will unlock it. All were and would be discussed on our local thread for transparency.

I've been hearing people with the saying that Nigeria is the giant of Africa but i want to make a confirmation that it has also proven to be a giant in Bitcoin adoption and cryptocurrency in Africa at large despite the  challenges from the government and the financial institutions, this does not in any way affect we Nigerians and our commitments to crypto but instead increased active participation.

The bitcointalk.org forum have many Nigerians who have chosen to create a greater path with their influence on the forum and we all have been part of this better dispensation of knowledge and exposition this platform offers as well.

It excites me when i discover a thread was in place for Nigerians and any other African to engage in discussion in a similar manner of board discussion, which was created by one of the active forum member @Cryptopreneurbrainboss and supported by other and since then, members of the thread have been actively engaged on discussion before it was later pinned sometimes last year.

I see the need to obtaining a local board as very paramount because the Nigeria (Naija) thread have developed a large number of members and need to further expand the scope of discussion if giving a "board" whereby there will be sections to best make suitable contributions (child boards). I see having a local board will also enhance more members from across Africa at large on the forum into the Nigeria (Naija) local board.

Best luck wishes!
Nigeria (Naija) thread.

The is a very good welcoming request for the Nigerians-Africa in the forum. The struggle has been on ground, but the implementation was one of the issue. Our Epic Heros, Legendaries like
Charles-Tim, Smartvirus, Cyrus, Cryptoprenuerbrainboss have been on this struggle to make sure that Nigerians-Africa (Pigin language) local board is created. The local thread boards that were created in this forum is hidden. And most of the newbies, Jr. Members, Members and Full members etc don't even know that such threads exist.  And also the local thread boards are so much haphazard that you will not even like to make comments there.  And the worst there is that, there is no way to create new topic thread. Most of the newbies that are from Nigeria which can't express themselves well in the English boards, can't even locate the Nigerian (naija) thread boards or the others. Personally, when I enter this forum at first, I was looking for a local board to express my experience and learn more, because most of my threads in English Boards were deleted based on lack of expression. But if it was in "LOCAL THREAD BOARD", I would have done better. And other newbies would have been doing well and learning faster.

Therefore, I am appealing to Theymos to look into this application and approve it to increase the Nigerians-Africa participation because most Nigerians are afraid to join this forum because of language barrier. When I told my neighbor about this forum, the first thing he asked me was, " I am not good in Writing English". And since he could not speak good English as I know him I also just left him alone.

Nigerians in this forum are more than other countries. Nigeria is the second to USA in Crypto adoption, that is, Nigerians youths use crypto Currencies most in Africa.   we need our board so we can freely without the fear of grammatical errors use our British-Nigeria language (Pigin English).

This is a welcome development. If the OP thread is good by the Administration of this forum, they should consider the thread and treat it with love. Love we stand, Development we Build.

It becomes sad that, no African nation has a local board on the forum admist requirements met.

I fully support the request for a local Board for Nigeria, which I think theymos should seriously consider in view of this. I often interact in threads with several Nigerians on the forum and in view of their representation on the forum, the size of their country and the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the country, in my opinion a local board should be created for them.

It is not understandable that there are local boards for countries with much smaller population and not for Nigeria.

In view of this request, I think its necessary Nigerians have their own local board owing to their contributions and represention in the forum so far.

A local board for Nigerians will also create a more sense of belonging to all Nigerians in the forum and Africans alike, and even to future African forum users.

I believe Theymos is a man of wisdom and obviously knows what it means for a group in a real society to have a feeling of sense of belonging within their ambient, "for the joy and self_actualization is one far fetch for such a people", so I literally believe that this appeal will be recognized and given the needed attention  in his person.

After I saw this thread i did some research and i find out that Nigerians have a high number of cryptocurrency owners (after their government crypto restriction) than India, France, etc who already have their own local board.
I support the call that Africa (Nigeria) should have their own local board for the betterment of this forum and from what I see they have already produced a lot of reputable members for this forum.

But isn't it better to keep that thread opened, share your sentiment about getting local board and bump it on the regular basis instead opening a new thread about exactly the same thing, like it happened now? If that thread wasn't locked, all this conversations would have happened there. Sure, someone might come occasionally and write nonsense/spam but you can always report it. Additionally, I would also share @igehhh's charts in that request thread of years on the regular basis, as another argument for your local board.

You are of course free to do do as you please, but I think that you would have better chances if you focus your efforts in one thread.

It is not understandable that there are local boards for countries with much smaller population and not for Nigeria.
It's all about how active certain community is, and not about the size of the population. I do agree though that based on their activity here and amount of members they do deserve local board (and not just them, there is at least one more community that is very active), something I said multiple times in various threads.

The main reason (at least that's my opinion on the matter) forum staff might be hesitant regarding creating new local boards is because quite a few of them became either semi-dead or completely inactive. For example, the last one created was Japanese board back in November 2017, which used to be pretty active. Fast forward to 2022, and it's a ghost town now with few posts each month. That of course doesn't mean there shouldn't be new local boards opened ever again, but might be the reason why its been more than a five years since the last local board created.

All the statistics points towards how enthusiast Nigerian are in the cryptocurency space. Few months backs exchanges has been bringing our their trading statistics and Nigerian were also topping the charts. On the forum you can also see how active Nigerians are and many more users are gaining recognition for their works and ranking up in forum. Local board has many benefits then just a place for individual from the same geographical backgrounds to hangout. We now have higher number of established users that can guide the newbies coming in to the forum to help them avoid mistakes that are usually association with noobs both on and off the forum.

Glad to see that more users are showing interest in the struggle, I remember when many were hiding (avoiding to associate themselves with the country due to the stereotype on the net). We're more than you can imagine on the forum, and a local board would definitely bring us together. Visiting our local thread, you'll discovered people are beginning to lose interest in the conversation ongoing as multiple topics like Bitcoin, altcoin, politics & society discussion are happening at the same time. It's due time our cry gets heard.

Nigerian local board is suppose to be justify because the numbers of people hooking up in their local board is due to give them liberty, before now the local community was not effective like before, with the turns of their users i think they deserve the board, but only challenges is that majority of them can discuss in English board.

I took a time to check the pages of the thread and i notice that they have many population who is active now. When Charles Tim created this type of thread last year i notice that they were lacking interaction.

So @ Rikafip is right, since this thread has been established by one person before other should queue up to drop their suggestions in same thread in the form of bumping thread instead of creating more and also end up with same agitation

Thank you Smartvirus for this thread, I call it a remindal thread. When I became a member of this forum, many people were already requesting for the local board. Initially, I thought that since our thread is pinned there's no need for local board anymore, not until I saw how important topics get buried in the thread. It's very boring creating different topics under one thread.
Again, the existing Nigerian thread is self-moderated, we can lose it if the OP is attacked.
There is a Nigerian adage that says whenever a child cries and points towards a particular direction, if his mother is not in that direction, his father will be there. We Nigerians are crying and pointing your direction.

Incase you may feel there are no strong hands that will organise Nigerian board if given, let me name just a few among many of us;

And many more.
These are reputable and quality posters, who has contributed to the forum in one way or the other.
We Nigerians are looking forward to hearing the goodnews.

This one is the most destabilizing of them all. Critical issues which require in-depth and concentrated dissections get lost even before conversations begin on them. Besides the point that yolking all together in a single thread makes it look haphazard, it doesn't bring out the best form of communication and information dissemination among users.

I know this is a mere hypothetical scenario but in reality life itself is a huge risk. Hopefully, it doesn't get to that.

You're a man of wisdom. That expression of yours wrapped in that adage is apt and Solomonic. Na better yarn you throw there so.

NIGERIANS AND AFRICANS NEEDS THIS

One of the challenges we have now is the grouping of our topics/subjects for effective/exhaustive discussion as sometimes, that gets flushed rather too quickly.
This is also my major problem in the local hangout, this has made participating or commenting on old topics very difficult, even when one has something very important to contribute, contributing means bringing up an old discussion to mix with that which is currently being discussed at the time , and this honestly doesn't feel right or make any sense, even doing this makes the user  feel/look odd and outdated.

So, with my whole heart, I join in this appeal, we the Nigerian community plead with you @theymos and to every other person(s) whom it is their decision to make, please listen to our plea and give us a local board for the Nigerian community and Africa at large, this will aid our growth as well as the growth of this great forum.

• The statistic supporting a local board for the Nigerian community have been laid out already and in several posts

• The problem with communicating through a local thread has also been expressed as it reduces the flow of discussions as well as maing it a difficult read,

• The solution to this problem would be a local board with possible child boards which would give more legitimacy to the community, connect more Nigerians on the forum and make it easier for information to be passed around.

I'm also requesting theymos to consider the plea of the members of the Nigerian community for a designated local board.
