- Send them affordable Bitcoin on their birthday.

Give them bitcoin as a gift, but not on birthdays and valentines days and Christmas and stuff. A gift(especially for these special days I've mentioned) are mostly something to make them happy; not an opportunity for you to shove down your interests to them regardless if you have good intentions.

I agree with you totally on this. Its a special day for them, and they will appreciate something special to them, not you. Since they have little or no knowledge about Bitcoin before now, I doubt if they will really appreciate or value your gift.
Maybe some other day, you could educate them about Bitcoin, but certainly not on their special day.

I also planned something like this but one thing stopped me. I wanted to gift Bitcoin as surprise gift but this is not possible as per my knowledge. Because the person I am gifting to needs to have an account on an exchange to receive Bitcoin from me. If I tell the person to create account or ask for his documents, all the fun of the surprise gift will be ruined. If anyone has some inputs on how to do this without letting the other person know about it in advance, I will really appreciate it.

Anyway if even 10% of bitcointalk forum members start doing this on birthdays of their friends and family, it will educate a lot of people about the usage and benefits of crypto. Some people are not using crypto because they do not own any coin and are hesitant to buy some as they think that is a new technology and there can be some issues. But if they get it as a gift, they will surely explore it more.

I gifted my sister $100 worth of ETH last year when it was hovering around $2k. She also likes to invest on Bitcoin but wants to go all-in. But I told her not to because it’s very risky if she will convert all of her savings into Bitcoin.
My friend you are underestimating Bitcoins according to me. Your sister might have done a proper research before thinking of going all in with Bitcoins. Bitcoins have the highest marketcap compare to any other coins, and it’s limited in numbers, so definitely as the time passes it will become more valuable, and hence due to limited in numbers the price will go high. I guess your sister was thinking right, Bitcoins are always best for long term holding.
It's not that he is underestimating btc but he is only trying to be careful and he is right that we shouldn't all in our savings because btc value is volatile and that is our savings man. It supposed to be separated and not to be used in investing because it will be use in the future or for emergency purposes. It is more stable than btc.

Another thing on why doing all in is bad is because the price can possibly go down. It enables us to invest again for a better gain. Eth has an unknown supply before but now that it migrated in POS, its supply should be known now and it was now limited. This makes eth a good addition aside from our btc, if we are hodling for long term.

All in is never been recommendable on which on every investment then its not really a something which you should do as an investor.Always mind off about risks because its always been like this
even though Bitcoin do flies out with colors or been mainly been supported but doesnt mean that it cant really be having that risk factor.Putting up all of your savings is a suicide.
You cant really be able to determine whether on the future you would be ending up on profits or would be totally on huge loss because the market didnt really
go on what you had expected for it to do so.You should really be wise and never forgets about risk management thing.

The most important thing is not only giving gifts, we need to teach anyone about independence, it is okay to give gifts, even though this is not a good culture to apply in life.
Yeah, a person will know the value of the gift if they really know what the gifts are. If they don't know and we don't explain or teach them about the gifts, this will not really good. KNowledge about crypto for some people is still new and some of them may still not be able to understand or accept Bitcoin or other cryptos. That is why, before or after giving Bitcoin as a gift, it very needs to give them certain lessons about what Bitcoin is, its value, the advantages, and others. Because, if they are not, the person who gets the gifts may think it better to sell the BTC directly, so they can buy some other goods that they are really willing to. Moreover some women may not really love this because they only want to show something new from their boyfriedn to their friends.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

Fuck that shitcoin, aka ethereum.

Regarding supply, stop trying to act as if you know the supply of ethereum, when the exact opposite is true.  So many people are mislead about their ongoing nonsense about a supposed further "restricting of the supply" of ethereum, and how would you even know, when you don't even  know the number of ethereum that were initially issued (except for what people tell you), and you do not know the current supply, and for sure you do not know the future supply either, since they can change their pumpening deceptive policies about supply at any time that they like - which should not inspire any confidence regarding the supply of Ethereum except that it is both manipulated and it is purposefully a complicated Rube Goldberg machine that you hope that the dweebs manipulating it will be able to continue to maintain enough control over it so that people believe that it has more value in the future than it does in the present times.

Fuck that shit.. and we should not even be talking about it in this thread, since this thread is about Bitcoin.. did you not notice the topic of the thread is about bitcoin?  Do you know what bitcoin is, or you just want to infiltrate this thread with baloney discussions about your shitcoin and act as if its supply is "more strict" that bitcoin.. .. which you should know better than that.. .. Let's stop talking about it in this thread - because it is off-topic.  Try to focus... Bitcoin?  have you heard of it?

Moreover some women may not really love this because they only want to show something new from their boyfriedn to their friends.

If you put an App on her phone with the bitcoin balance, then she can show her BTC balance to all of her friends (not good OPsec, but that's her problem) and how it is fluctuating on a very regular basis...  hopefully the balance on her phone will be fluctuating more UP rather than down, otherwise you have to keep giving more and more to her in order that she will be able to see her balance going up .... hahahahahaha

Let's say that you gave her $100 worth (0.00465116 BTC) when the BTC price was $21,500 last week, and then now she looks at her phone and she sees that same BTC is ONLY worth $73.50 (when the BTC price was at $15,800)... So in order to keep her happy, you send her another $50 (0.003125 BTC) when the price is $16k, so now she has 0.00777616 BTC, and maybe the value will go up, and maybe it won't, but once you get it established, then it could become a kind of ongoing gift.. perhaps?  Maybe it will work? and maybe not?  People react differently to these kinds of things, and we likely realize that newbies to bitcoin will sometimes get overly anxious to sell whenever they see a decent amount of profits... and you cannot necessarily stop them from wanting to lock in their profits with some kind of a material (live for the moment) kind of satisfaction.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

If I get a gift like this, I'll definitely show it off in front of my friends because I'll be very excited, I know the price has dropped a lot now, but I'm full of good imaginations about his future, I'll find a safe one Save it in my wallet, maybe when my friend and I have known each other for 30 years, I will take it out and turn it into cash for a long trip, just as a travel fund.

This is a woman, maybe some women are different. But I'm sure that some women really like to show off what they have. Showing their assets to their friends is not only not a bad idea but also dangerous. Especially if the gift given by her boyfriend is only worth a few dollars, maybe their friends will actually ridicule them. Not to mention if when shown, market conditions are dropping, maybe they will be even more ridiculed, as a result, your woman will be embarrassed and angry. Yes indeed this is the world of women hahaha
And if we have to keep adding to the balance to keep it going up, this won't be an easy matter, will it?  Grin Grin

Unless our woman is a mature woman who doesn't care about showing off, but is more aware and accepting of whatever it is, and is smart enough to accept and learn more about Bitcoin. They're not going to try to show it off and instead want to keep it tight and figure out how to get more Bitcoins.

Well, if this is the reaction of the one who gifted bitcoin, then you should really be happy, and I am sure that in the coming year he will again gift bitcoin. I hope that you should use it as a stepping stone to learn about bitcoin and start learning from it. I would suggest that you spend it but still save some of it, like 30%, so that you can profit from it in the future.

some women are understanding and mature, but some women are concerned with their appearance and show off what they have to their friends.
Actually, there are many ways that can be done to make Bitcoin-themed gifts using real bitcoin assets.

For example, by giving a special gift iPhone 13 Pro Max with a GOLD design bearing the bitcoin symbol and in it there is a wallet containing Bitcoin. it will be a special gift, anyone will love to have it. Maybe it's a bit expensive, but other, simpler gifts won't be a problem as long as the woman understands. It's not how expensive the gift is, but how meaningful and unique it is.

Depends on the amount Smiley
If she has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies, she won't understand much. If she does, it is more valuable to him. She may not even want to sell it. Because she wants it to remain the first cryptocurrency She bought as a gift for him. You don't even need to keep track of when I bought it, how much I bought it and how much the price was at that time. Everything is already clearly visible on the internet.
If the amount is big then she would really be definitely get interested with that but if not then it would be mostly be ignored but when curiosity does move out then it wont really be that surprising that your girlfriend

or someone would really be that interested on what you had given. No one could really ignore it out or later they would realize on how important it is as we do know that Bitcoin does increase its value overtime.

Receiving something as a gift then we should be at least grateful. As for those zero knowledge fellas then they would sooner find out on how good it is when had been given by some coins.
Neither she would appreciate it or not but likely she would definitely be find it interesting.

On the contrary, I think the amount doesn't matter much since the op said it's a birthday gift for his sister and friend what matters is the value of bitcoin at the moment and the knowledge of bitcoin that she has. If she has little knowledge of bitcoin she will appreciate the gift regardless of the amount with the hope of Holding it for a long period but if she doesn't it becomes a problem because she may want to sell it to it or convert the money to fiat since she can't keep track of her assets.

Cryptocurrencies are actually quite simple. I'd be happy if I got a gift from my friend, because it's a signal that we're in each other's circles. Friends are willing to give me what they think is important, which is a kind of emphasis on me.

Of course, a guy might get in more trouble if he is not at all paying attention regarding whether his girlfriend is appreciating her bitcoin gift - and surely a teaching tool can play out in all kinds of ways, and if the gift is $100 or less, then it should be easy enough to keep adding to the gift in order to keep it at or above $100.. even though for sure, the abilities of the guy to serve as a provider (or a replenisher of bitcoin) is going to vary from location to location, and if the guy is having difficulties keeping a $100 balance up for his girlfriend, then maybe he could start with a smaller amount, such as $10.

I was largely attempting to make it a point to have fun with the bitcoin as a gift idea - which surely seems to have more likelihood to work as an interactive tool the more that a guy might be willing to have ongoing feedback with the girlfriend.. and surely, over time, the guy can verify whether she is interactive or just a little selfish bitch.. hahahahaha...   And, don't get me wrong.. I get the sense that a lot of girls like to show off, and there can be ways to figure out how to have a "show off stash" of BTC that would be a smaller amount, and then also to teach about having some kind of a stash that is more of a "keep private" and cold storage stash.  There are ways to have a variety of different kinds of stashes, and the more available it is, then likely the smaller the amount, and the more cold storage it is, then it can be a larger amount - to the extent that any of us might want to help a girlfriend or anyone else in our real world lives to establish these kinds of systems and to figure out various ways to potentially get utility (and perhaps joy) out of learning about and maintaining such various kinds of bitcoin storage systems.

Of course, any person who receives bitcoin may well need to be shown or to figure out how to make sure that the bitcoin are sufficiently stored, and if the phone is lost, then the coins can be recovered.  Surely not easy, and there can be a lot of varieties in the various kinds of wallets regarding how they are backed up and what might be the various vulnerabilities of the ways to store bitcoin.  Some people will end up selling their bitcoin because they become too frustrated with even trying to learn how to store or to back up bitcoin, and even a lot of us in the Bitcoin space for a long time can recognize and appreciate how it is not even easy to keep up with so many different kinds of ways to store bitcoin and sometimes even longer term bitcoiners can get confused and/or turned off about the various ways that storing their bitcoin can become frustrating and confusing.

Because this is more personal, I think OP can have more control over the gifts given, so that the recipient, in this case his sister, can do the same thing as the initial bitcoin investment. However, if this gift is resold, it is certain that OP will not succeed in educating his younger siblings to develop themselves in investing. While others are very open to bitcoin adoption and investment.

Today many communities and individuals have seen how great bitcoin is, so they need to take a role in investing in bitcoin, and I believe the OP understands the concept of investing more, so it's not difficult to teach this to his brother.

Bitcoin can be a thoughtful and memorable gift with the potential to change her life. You must give her bitcoin or another cryptocurrency.

I believe Bitcoin is ok for a gift, and I won't advise giving altcoin as gift because Bitcoin is less risky to manage in terms of market volatility and long-term holding.

Since we all know how iconic a birthday gift can be, the girlfriend may want to hold it for some time, more long time if the Girlfriend for not have knowledge about Bitcoin and will be needing a lot of teaching and practical guidance to be able to exchange the Bitcoin or keeping the Bitcoin securely store on a cold wallet.

Whichever way it gonna take some time for the gift to be converted to real use.

I want to note that for me, as a girl, the amount of money is not important when I receive gifts from man. First of all, as for me, normal girls appreciate the care and attention, and not the price of the gift. Therefore, it seems to me that it is enough to find out what she dreams about (we girls usually talk about this everytime ahaha) and give her a bouquet of roses)

Are you telling the truth?, because I see that girls now like to be given expensive, branded goods... almost no longer like flowers. If a man only cares and worries about a girl, and another man has money, I believe the girl will choose the one with money. You won't be happy if you don't know about bitcoin or its value, but if you know it, then I believe you will like it more than any bouquet.
