Select all these checkmarks -


And you are good to go! BTC

You will never see those bounty spams in your unread posts.

It basically get my Unread Posts get rid of those 1000's of Bounty posts in altcoin. That's what I meant by this post.

That doesn't seem to make anything better, if anything there are less crypto/btc topics which this forum is made for

It is a good guide if someone wants only wants to check only specific boards but still new shitcoins and bounties, will pop up unless those boards is removed from the forum. I do not think that will happen anytime in the future as many members especially newbies love bounties and shitcoins.

These are altcoin sections so you're pretty much just hiding the non-BTC ones. I personally wouldn't do this(because I'm mostly just on the Bitcoin Discussion, Beginners & help, and Trading Discussion anyway) but hey, to each their own.

Hiding those boards (on your account) doesn't mean you get rid of shitcoins. Besides, shitcoin occasionally mentioned on few boards such as "Beginners & Help" and "Marketplace" (if the seller/buyer accept BTC along with shitcoin).

Or you could simply collapse all Alternate cryptocurrencies section by clicking on it's tab title.
I do have most of the other languages with few other boards disabled the same way you disabled it for altcoins, this makes it cleaner and takes less space.
You will still see altcoin questions in all topics like Beginners & Help but you can always report them to moderators.

By ignoring those boards from settings does it for me and that's what I shared with others!

Your life will be so boring if you don't engage with those shitcoins around, since sometimes there are short term gem among them and you will miss a lot of profit if you stick on bitcoins or top alts only.

We know its high risk investment but if you know how to play the game and cannot be FOMO or FUD for sure you earn some good profits with it so do your own research before engaging with this and to avoid scams.

My main concern about it, is the completely inaccessibility to the board selected. The should not be really getting rid of topics that are not interesting from unread post as the OP thread indicates. Except for thread with languages I dont understand, some threads are very interesting although it may be completely non-bitcoin and I believe it is not in the intention of the OP

For those who like to browse the forum by looking at the recent unread posts, sure, this can help. But in all my years on Bitcointalk, I don't think I have ever clicked on the button to display unread posts. At least not intentionally. I use the Watchlist feature and check for replies in my own threads and those in topics I have posted in earlier. Aside from that, I browse the forum from the top and access those subs that suit me the most at that moment.

OP has a good sense of humor. After reading the title of the topic, I did not immediately understand how this can be done. Nevertheless, this is a good exit for those who are not at all interested in altcoins. Especially in disabling useless bounty hunter reports. Someone wrote that disabling uninteresting topics can even help the forum so that it does not load very much if I understand correctly.
But posting this topic to newbies is unlikely to be valuable advice for newbies since we very often see people coming to the forum who are interested in participating in bounties.

Op did a nice guide but the title is ambiguous and somewhat misleading. At first I was thinking Op will suggest to Theymos how to get rid of shitcoins in bitcointalk. On a second thought, I was like why will he do that or not do so in meta. But after reading the thread I understood what Op meant.

This is because what you demonstrated in Op didn't in anyway remove the said boards in bitcointalk, it simply hid them from your view. So, it is right to say that you ignored and not remove. You can only get rid from the backend which I believe only Theymos controls.

yes i know, but do you know that those numerous altcoins that basically have no firm are those that causes lost when you invest without taking notes of the project first.. actually they have advantages and disadvantages, if you invest...in Bitcoin no matter how you invest on it, you most make profit, except you are inquisitive or in panic to sell because of downgrade information.

actually, you should have known that before you engaged into cryptocurrency investment, the primary agenda or focus should go directly to know how good is the project and also know how volatile is the particular coin you want to engage or adventure into.

That will only hide posts from the boards you have ignored but one thing I'm sure is that those shit coins still exist and other shit coins will pop-up out of thin air much like fake airdrops. I would agree with KingsDen that the title is misleading and instead the title should be what KingsDen have suggested. Your guide does ignore many shit coins but it doesn't mean you rid of the shit coins you don't want. Even if you didn't ignore those boards you can still get rid of shit coins or ignore just by not thinking too much of it and focus on known coins instead of those shit coins.

The best way to go about the whole issue. When you don't think about these coins, there's no way they will bother you or popping up your way.
Personally, I do not know if these boards exists, the shitcoins or so. I have never visited the boards from my newbie days till now. So, I will not even see their existence as a problem. I only use the watch list to follow threads I commented.
I mistakenly clicked the see unread posts button and so another of things I do not have interest about and that was the end of me clicking that button. Psychologically defeating the shitcoins by not thinking of then is the best remedy.
