Hungry for financial flexibility, a California man named Dylan shelled out a measly $150 a year to eat every meal at Six Flags Magic Mountain in order to save thousands, pay off his student loan debt, get married and purchase a house in Los Angeles. “You can pay around $150 for unlimited, year-round access to Six Flags, which includes parking and two meals a day,” Dylan, 33, explained to Mel Magazine Monday. “If you time it right, you could eat both lunch and dinner there every day.” https://nypost.com/2021/10/27/man-spent-150-yearly-on-six-flags-food-paid-off-student-debt/ .... This is an old story about a man who paid $150 a year for food, eating two meals at six flags theme park, everyday. Since this story went viral, the theme parks all you can eat for $150 plan has recently been canceled. Still a great example of how life hacks and out of the box thinking can get people ahead. Perfect example of great opportunities in life flying beneath the radar. ... Other amusement parks like valley fair: https://www.valleyfair.com/dining/drinks-dining-dealsMay still carry similar all you can eat deals for less than $100/year. (Although they may not include the cost of parking, which is where the deal may not be perfect)

I can say, that man, had very strong determination of achieving his goals in life. Eating everyday in the same place didn't bother him so long he was on track with his targets. I commend those kind of people because they are not blaming anyone or the system about their situation in life. But they are finding ways on how to elevate their status even if they need to sacrifice first. Some people will complain all day without doing the necessary action. We need this kind of mindset when we are tight with the budget and wants to achieve something for ourselves.

The guy said that at the beginning the food wasn't healthy. So saving thousands of dollars in the short term could cost him thousands of dollars later, especially with the insane costs of American healthcare. Still a great example of how life hacks and out of the box thinking can get people ahead.
Perfect example of great opportunities in life flying beneath the radar.
There's not enough of such opportunities for all the struggling people in any given country. They shouldn't be used to dismiss the concerns of poor people.

As soon as I read the title, I thought about it, because no matter what someone thinks they have found a way to play the system, all that cheap (free meal) will still be paid dearly, and in this particular case fast food is bad for everyone's health. I remember watching some documentary about someone who did an experiment on what happened after eating only junk food for 1 month, and the results were not pleasant at all. However, I must admit that I did not know that such services exist, and for someone who would, say, eat one such meal every week, it is really more than a good offer. Many must have been angry when the theme parks canceled such an offer, and all because of one man - he certainly no longer visits theme parks after all

I remember watching some documentary about someone who did an experiment on what happened after eating only junk food for 1 month, and the results were not pleasant at all. So that guy did something similar what Morgan Spurlock did almost 20 years ago in his well known documentary Super Size Me in which he ate exclusively at McDonald's for a month, 3 meals per day. At first he even threw up few times from all that junk food, but after some time he became very addicted to it, getting very nervous between his daily doses of junk food. Results were 12 kg extra, high cholesterol, mood swings, liver problems etc. However, I must admit that I did not know that such services exist, and for someone who would, say, eat one such meal every week, it is really more than a good offer. Many must have been angry when the theme parks canceled such an offer, and all because of one man - he certainly no longer visits theme parks after all Here in Europe I don't even remember seeing "all you can eat" type of restaurants, let alone something like this. Then again, you can imagine the quality of food that you get if you pay it that cheap.

I wouldn't expect him to be there everyday actually still even if you go there in Six Flags 4 days a week, you still save a lot of money. If he really planned it, then he really wants to buy a house of his own which he did. Yeah, that's the right kind of attitude to a problem. It's not just being in a situation but, haven't found yourself in that situation what rightful step are you planning to take towards making the situation work for you and give you time to focus your resources/resourceful on other necessities. For those who result to complains as a way out, you end up finding them complaining all the time. It's actually so bad because, complaining doesn't give you the time to think out a solution. It gives you the consolation that, its not your fault, have never been your fault and its always someone else, making things difficult for you. The funny reality is, to just get up and start something. Perhaps search out for information and then your likely to meet a breakthrough and then you go from there. Then again, you can imagine the quality of food that you get if you pay it that cheap.
My thoughts exactly. What quality of food might come off a $100 - $150 per year food package. Life ain't that cheap, even from 50years ago. Again, it gets really boring, eating the same food time after time but, it was a means to his goal. What ever helps, goes so, good one.

It's not one year, but 7 years of this way of life - how else could he save so much money to pay a student loan debt and buy a house in Los Angeles where real estate is extremely expensive. Yet man needs to be acknowledged for his perseverance in reaching his goal, for persisting in such an intention for so many years is by no means an easy task. Imagine if he knew about Bitcoin at the time, a man would surely be a real rich man today He’s eaten an estimated 2,000 meals at around 50 cents per sitting at Six Flags for the past seven years.

Lol. These types of offers work because people pay and don't take advantage of them. Like gyms where the annual fee is much cheaper proportionally than the monthly fee, but the percentage of people who pay for the whole year and don't go even one month is huge. So, as the story became popular, no wonder they cancelled the offer. As for what the protagonist of the story did, I would recommend to anyone in that situation to focus on increasing income and not cutting expenses, especially as in this case where cutting expenses can affect your health.

For many third-world people, such a favor would be the gift of a lifetime. Some people live by the rule: "we eat to live, not live to eat." And at the same time, while earning, he had the opportunity to eat extra, it's just not told to us. Therefore, the paths to the American dream are different for everyone, and not everyone brings their dream to realization, nevertheless, they eat this fast food every day and completely aimlessly. This guy at least knew what such sacrifices were for.

I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked. That almost reminds me of the stupid knee-jerk reactions institutions have when something very rare but very bad happens--and I'm talking about the likely reason why there are safety bars on roller coaster rides and so forth. Still a great example of how life hacks and out of the box thinking can get people ahead.
Perfect example of great opportunities in life flying beneath the radar.
I'm not sure I'm with you on that, Hydrogen. Sure, the guy saved some money on food but it seems like it would be an absolute tedious pain in the ass to do that, not to mention that I'd probably get sick of eating at a theme park within a week. Also, this might be stating the obvious, but wouldn't it be better to put one's education to work and start earning higher wages? Or if you're a planner by nature, maybe pick a college major like nursing, engineering, pharmacy or the like that essentially guarantees you won't have to fucking eat every meal at a theme park just to pay off your student loan? There are crafty ways of solving problems (I loathe the term "life hack"), but this isn't the greatest. It made news because it was unusual, and the media loves doing stories about student loan debt.

Here in Europe I don't even remember seeing "all you can eat" type of restaurants, let alone something like this. Then again, you can imagine the quality of food that you get if you pay it that cheap.
There are a lot of restaurants with all you can eat and even all you can drink in London and Barcelona, well at least there were before the whole virus thing. But it's nothing like the US thing, the good stuff is far more expensive and you would probably be able just to stuff yourself for one day and they don't come with monthly packages, just for the day, or a 4-8h limit, but all of them are designed for tourist. So you can get pretty decent food but it will cost you 30 pounds while you could obviously just as for normal size and pay 20. The morning all you can eat buffet option was pretty widespread, from 10-15 euros even in above-average locations and indeed you could go all day with what you could eat there, then the so-called digital nomad hangouts, pretty cheap stuff but enough to get your fill. Far better options are the all you can drink per night cocktails packages. I did manage to get one cocktail for 1 euro at the end of the night, but damn, those days are in the past, I would rather pay 20 for one and avoid the next morning. The guy said that at the beginning the food wasn't healthy. So saving thousands of dollars in the short term could cost him thousands of dollars later, especially with the insane costs of American healthcare.
Maybe he could have tried something else, maybe ending up spending more than 150$ but probably still far less than his colleague who was doing 1500$ a month by simply packing a bento from home, at least it's obviously way healthier.

That dude was definitely very keen on changing his life into better one. Might be struggled since his childhood because such ideas can only come to those who are seriously needy ones and who has seen worst days in their life. Such people definitely knows the importance of money, time and passion for life. Even though he may have not been struggler then also last part applies to him. Otherwise most of the time if we are earning good salary then we usually become lazy bums and our life circle keeps rotating around the clock. We don’t go and find such life hacks. Good share. Inspiring.

I have to wonder about the quality of his diet if this was his primary meal, but I guess many people live off worse. It's a shame that earning such an advanced form of education ends up costing people so much, when it is so beneficial to the wider society to have extremely knowledgeable people. We're all in the same rat race, but it would be nice if the government did more to bring down the costs for people who want to go through college and university. An uneducated society can bring all kinds of inequality and problems, plus less chance to push through major advancements in tech/medicine/science which are great for the economy of a country.
