Isn't Bitcoin a bit mainstream now whereas we shouldn't be surprised if it was mentioned in some movie or series? Maybe a few years ago I'll be quite happy and surprised but today? It's nothing new already.

This is fun and can be a source of pride for the Bitcoin community as Bitcoin has grown in popularity. And for people who don't know Bitcoin, they will be able to grow their curiosity about Bitcoin. This could be hidden marketing.

I don't think you really had to make a thread about this. We are not in 2010 anymore. 12 years passed since 2010. You think we should hype because some actor from netflix talked about bitcoin? Well, I hate to pop your bubble but there are hardly any people which don't talk about bitcoin nowadays. Every social media platform is filled with crypto people. It is impossible not know about bitcoin.

Not new anymore, such kind of news/update/trivia/mentions is not a thing to bitcoin anymore. There are already movies that is revolving about bitcoin not just mentioning it. So kinda expect it more series or movies will mention bitcoin especially if its related to finance, heists, etc.

I have not watched this series, but today you can see enough films where cryptocurrency and bitcoin appear, most often these are films about hackers and darknet, and bitcoin is personified as not legitimate money, I would like to see films and TV series where there will be positive stories about cryptocurrency

Nowadays, as you say bitcoin and etc appears everywhere. They even highlight it as a rival in some investment advertisements. If it wasn't used this much then it would be surprising

I'm not too surprised by the dialogue that mentions Bitcoin in movies and series, so I'm sure in the future technology era there will be some action movies starring the best actors that will interest the topic of Bitcoin transactions. So Bitcoin news spread continues to be supported in popular movies, there will be more new communities in crypto.

Yeah, it's nothing new. I'm not complaining, though, it's a welcome change and the more people embracing cryptocurrency, the more likely it is that Hollywood is going to feature more and more. However, we are still waiting for the full feature film to "pay back" the community that made it all possible, namely the people that funded the Bitcoin revolution. I hope it happens soon, as it would make a great film.

I believe at this point many people know of bitcoin looking at the increase in media courage in these TV series, movies and everywhere else, which means people get more knowledge of how this crypto works as long as it's not depicted in a negative way which could affect the adoption process.

Good, but I'm no surprise at all, as bitcoin is evidently becoming more 'famous' right now, it's just about time that movies tv shows are going to mentioned it.

Nevertheless one might think that this is a good exposure again for us. If this is 2017, I might believed though, but in the last 4-5 years, bitcoin has been slowly creeping under the rug of mainstream media.

There were a lot of mentions bitcoin got already from Netflix series and there's even a dedicated one for it. It's not new but yeah, I can see the excitement that whenever we're watching a good one then bitcoin has been mentioned.
Expect that for the next other series' or movies, there will always be the mentioning for bitcoin because it's already in the mainstream and people are no longer looking at it as something bad unless that film portrays it badly.

^ It is Probably 3-4 movies on Netflix I have heard mentioning BTC or crypto.
This is not new and that is right, BTC is the mainstream and everyone is talking about BTC, but the thing that I don't understand is that they give a bad image to BTC as used for illegal activities instead of giving a good point of real use to it. I saw that there is a new movie there a BTC documentary but I did not watch it already because I don't have enough time. Is there anyone watching that documentary film?

Few years back it is very rare to see news associated with bitcoin. Now things have changed and as a result bitcoin is being used everywhere. Even the local media's have begun to broadcast news and information associated with bitcoin. By the time Netflix drama/series having something associated with bitcoin is a not a big thing for now.

I believe, in the new movies or series to come, mentioning crypto or bitcoin would just be a normal thing.
Because as the adoption is growing everyday, people will just treat crypto as just another regular payment method.
Nothing special about it because people are learning about the benefits of it particularly in the payment sector.
I do agree, we are happy when those old movies have a brief mention of bitcoin or even showing the logo of btc, but now, it is like a normal thing.

Couldn't agree more. I reported this topic yesterday to be deleted as redundant when there were only couple of replies but as we can see, report didn't come through (status is unhandled so there is still a chance). Bitcoin discussion board is a mess due large amount of pointless topics that's been created on the regular basis and this one imho falls into this category.

Bitcoin was mentioned in NCIS series in 2018. That's already 4 years ago. And it's not the only example.
While seeing it mentioned, in a way or another, can make me smile (although in most cases it's the hidden-money-ofr-doing-bad stereotype), it's certainly not something that important. Not anymore.

Honestly, at some point I even stopped considering it significant when Bitcoin or crypto is mentioned in a TV show. There were a few TV shows that are strongly related to cryptos (Mr Robot, Silicon Valley), and many more that paid some attention to them. The most recent show I've seen (Only Murders in the Building) also briefly mentioned a guy accepting cryptocurrency payments for his counseling sessions. I like it that recent shows don't even take time to explain what cryptos are, and just mention them, expecting the audience to at least roughly know what they're talking about. And while I'd agree it means there's a certain fashion for Bitcoin, it doesn't mean that it's globally adopted and widely interesting to people around the world.

It doesn't matter if one show uses bitcoin as a word, this doesn't improve our price, you know what would? If netflix said that they would start using bitcoin to accept subscriptions. If you could buy your monthly subscription with bitcoin then you would be doing alright. Obviously not everyone does that, and obviously netflix will not start doing it but the day they do, the day payment with bitcoin is accepted in the biggest places, biggest companies, google, amazon, steam, whatever, then we are going to see bitcoin go up.

It is a currency that is not accepted in the largest companies of the world, that is not acceptable and we have such a huge potential if they start to accept.

Bitcoin has already entered the mainstream consciousness years ago, hence there are now many mention of it on TV shows, series and movies. I could not anymore count how many movies I watched where personalities mention Bitcoin and many of them are done in a good and sometimes neutral tones. This is quite expected since it is the media that can be picking up anything that is new to them and that can be interesting. I am looking forward to the time when Bitcoin will be as synonymous as the dollar in terms of perception by writers of different shows and movies.
