i recently re did a whole thermal pad job on my gigabyte master 3080

i was hitting the 110c easily with little to no OC,

it was fixed by adding thermal pads but the task was kinda tedious and seriously nerve recking !

am going to build with final rig and planning to get 6-8 3080s, i cant imagine having the same problem again ! which manufacturer mitigates this problem in their cards ? (ie. crappy or NO pads !...)

i came to learn MSI and Gigabyte do have this problem so will stay away from these for now, can someone recommend from which maker to get ?...

thanks,

Wait till you do a copper thermal modding on the GPU's you will end up loving them, copper shims works great on 3070,3080 and 3090, be expecting 74-76°C after using copper, you can go on YouTube for tutorial.

The best card manufacturer for Nvidia is Evga but the problem is that the temperature problem is in every manufacturer as they are produced for gaming in the first place and the memory temperature does not happen while gaming. You can add extra cooling to such cards,a 6 Pcs fan next to your cards can make that memory temp go to 100c or even less than that in case you don't want to redo another tedious task like the one of changing the thermal pads.

There are the CMP version cards which are expensive enough but they are made for mining and I have not read about any problems for those cards so far.

Every brand of rtx3080 does throttles after a few months of using them to mine, either MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS, or EVGA, the reason why few brands are better than the other is the cooling technology not the thermal pads in them, even those EVGA will give up later and require a new thermal pad to keep up, you want a high-end GPU for mining? Be ready to invest on high grade thermal pads.

This video card works great in mining out of the box, check the reviews of the miners.
You are correctly told that after a while you will be faced with the need to replace thermal pads.

I am against copper thermal pads

This might be true, Palit do have awkward looking designs but they are better in performance, I don't have the big 3080s for Palit but I do have the 1660s that are Palit brands and they perform better than other brands in my GPU, I haven't increased their fan more than 65% since I bought them unlike MSI and ASUS that are now onn75% fan speed, Palit 3080s might be a better brand.

you can go with rtx a4000 in a 12 card case

I have a few and no issues since the case fans really cool them down

hell you can get 8 EVGA 3090 ftw3 and a specialty 8 case designed for fat cards no over heating issues so far.

about 15.5k

you need 220/240 volts and it pulls about 2400-2500 watts
