Hello everyone!

WTB: Casascius 0.1 BTC

Pls DM if you have one for sale.  Ungraded is preferred, but graded is ok.  Sellers with solid trust history only.  Escrow through MJ or Krogoth.

I'll use this recent auction as a guideline to determine "fair" price:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5393296.0;all

Thanks!   Smiley

Ouch. Maybe this was before it was compromised. That or they switched their MO. I wonder what would’ve happened if someone agreed to this deal. Luckily it was reported early before too much damage could be done. Brings up the question of liability and responsibility when something like this happens. A conversation about solutions on how this sort of scam could be avoided in the future might be productive as well.

So he suggests escrow and then at some point switches to direct sale? This is a tough one to catch because hes using a trusted account. Short of using escrow for everything i dont know how you avoid scam. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and give trust. Glad they havent got me yet. Lesson learned

I have already done many trades here, we can split the amount if you like, 0.1 btc upfront and the rest once its delivered? or if you are in the us (Better Florida) we can meet in person.

Anyways this is my payment address if you agree: bc1qrnglguxenntxcwnxq9pchfvvqfa900hrh4807e

Cheers!

Too much money for me to pay upfront.. if you want to ship to mj first and then he can release funds I'd be fine with that

This was him in reference to a .1 cas he was trying to sell

He sent me a pm regarding a cas 0.1 and wanted me to send the full payment upfront, while refusing to use escrow. Obviously seemed fishy to me already. As it seems like the account got hacked, DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS USER UNTILL FURTHER NOTICE.

I think bitcointalk should add a layer of security when people with high trust ratings log in.. if they can't do 2FA, maybe at least they can limit people with high trust ratings to one IP address and have them go through a verification process when logging in from another device. Can we all discuss some ways that would be easy for bitcointalk to implement that would protect the community from such occurrences?

Keep your accounts secure and safe. If you get hacked do exactly what this guy did and reach out to a trusted member like Krogoth or MJ.

Hackers will try to sell stuff they don't have to get BTC they don't deserve.

Always use escrow unless you have delt with the person before.

I will never send private messages with payment requests for my auctions. I only communicate transparently via the forum (not Telegram, Discord, Skype & others). Please be wary of scammers.

Yes a 2FA thru a Security Key like a Yubikey would be the way to go.

Also I never use my main krogothmanhattan account from anywhere but a "safe" computer at home that is not used for anything else but banking and safe stuff period.

A person must never have his password autofill saving their passwords and if any link is presented and the forum asks you to log in again, that is a red flag right there!

Keep your passwords offline at all times and making it stupid long and complex that it would take centuries to crack thru a bruteforce attack.

I keep mine in a special book in a dungeon that I dread to take out as it takes me forever to put in the complex password that sometimes I mistype and end up doing all over again.

All my gmail accounts I setup to use not only password but also a Titan key as well. Without those two, no chance to login.

Just my two satoshi on this people.

  https://www.security.org/how-secure-is-my-password/

  https://www.passwordmonster.com/

I used a complex password for my online loaded BTC stamp image in 2017 and till this day it has not been cracked.

  http://www.crypto-stamps.com/private3.html

I mean the password is over 50 characters long so it will take 2 million trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion years to crack according to one website   Wink

  Example of a password    (&TY(GH&*Bhi87tT&*()T*OBG&*T(&B*&()T^(T&O)T^&*((bihbvir757f%^*^&^R&%DTrsd

There are hacked high-ranking bitcoin talk accounts for sale on the darknets. Or at least there were a few years ago. You could buy a legendary account for a few hundred dollars in BTC.

It has been a complaint of a lot of users to implement the option to allow 2fa. 2fa would allow for another layer of authentication that would fix this issue of account takeovers.

Again, I will bang on about how PGP could be used to give users the ability to verify if a user was legitimate or not. I personally would need a guide on using PGP fingerprints, I would love if everyone here knew how to do it.

Same with using PGP encryption instead of privnote for encoding private details.

We could have bitcointalk locked down like a bankvault if we educated ourselves on the topic of security.
