What type of sign is when you OC your graphic card for mining and it works at the same spot for months then later it started crashing? Unless I reduce the OC settings before it starts working fine again? Is the memory dying or the thermal pads are weak? This graphics card is a vega 56.

Hi!
I have a vega 56 sapphire nitro+ samsung that in the heat always sends the rig down.. with the cool it was ok. it has to be said that it went constant at 54mhs ..  52mhs now it doesn't give any more problems :-)

the caps in the cards age. and all pads and thermal pastes get older.

Just lower clocks unless you feel like tearing the card down rep adding and pasting.

Try adding a fan.

here is a good one.

how about heat?

what if it is fine during winter and spring..then it starts getting errors during summer.

so you don't over clock during hot months and you overclock during cool months.

That's a temp issue, the graphic card will crash because it can't handle that overclock settings its on, change the thermal pad and thermal paste or add an extra cooling fan, this season is very hot 🔥, even my 3060ti is misbehaving, temp is up to 61°C while its always at 56°C before, crazy time.

Mine is hynix memory and im using Teamred miner, now I can only use the following settings on this RX Vega 56 for stable performance at 43MH

Core clock 950
VDD 825
VDDCI 930
MVDD  1275
Mem Clock 860

Tweak config

amdmemtweak --CL 18 --RC 34 --RP 13 --WR 11 --CWL 7 --FAW 12 --RAS 23 --REF 15600 --RFC 164 --RTP 6 --RRDL 4 --RRDS 3 --WTRL 4 --WTRS 4 --RCDRD 19 --RCDWR 11

Anything more than 860 on memory this card will crash

I heard that applying a thermal pad on vega 56 to get lower temp can be a pain in the ass and im trying to avoid that lol, thanks for the cooling fan links you dropped I will look into them and try getting one maybe it will get better, I wish there is a way to add copper plates to Vega cards too but can't find videos on that.

I doubt that this will work on a graphic card thats crashing when memory OC can't even go up than 860, the problem is the GPU can't unleash its full power probably because of bad thermal pad, before I fixed my 3080 heat issue I noticed that my 3080 can work at lower OC outputing 40MH only, the mem temp is also lower at this state... Its always the temp bro.

maybe card was unstable because of the low core or low VDD.. Mine go from 1050 to 1150.. and crash with VDD under 853..

To try increasing the VDD first you need to make sure that the graphic card has no heat or high temp issue, after replacing thermal pads things might go back go normal and this will make any overclock to work easily.

The thermal pads on VEGA 56/64 don't really need to be changed since the GPU's have HBM2 memory which is located on the GPU die.  You just have to reapply a nice thick thermal paste so that the HBM2 memory is making contact with the cooler.

RX VEGA GPUs are not that stubborn to cool down unlike RTX3080 and RTX3090, OP needs to face one of this to compare 😆, even a cheap pad and good paste can set things right for a VEGA gpu.
