except of course if you are looking for more merits from this thread, merit giveaways make sense when they are run by merit sources who have their source merit replenished after 30 days, that way they can give out more smerits and keep the thread active for a pretty long time. So i would advise you look for posts that meet your merit criteria and give merits to them without starting a thread for that.
