I think the very act of gambling seems to be deeply ingrained into our biology. Whenever we take a risk and win, we get a huge surge of dopamine and endorphins (maybe? I am no biologist) and we need that. Thats why we can't stop followin our desires. Why fat people can't stop eating food and why we always are seeking "happiness". Basically just a brain chemical cocktail that makes the brain crave more and more of whatever you do that creates that brain cocktail.

So basically, gambling is trading money for a momentary moment of happiness and thrill. People pay money for paragliding and bungeeing off bridges for the same reason, really.

The poor saps who think they can make a career out of it are the true losers here.

That's why I do believe that the people who are actually gambling to make some profits or if they are praying to god for some kind of miracle while holding the lottery ticket these people might get addicted in some way before they can realize that they have lost all, they try and win it back which makes them loose even more money.

In my opinion, the most logical strategy is to play with the expectation of a big win. 

A job or small business can provide a stable cash flow.  Playing in a casino, counting on a small win, in my opinion, does not make sense.  The probability of a big win is very small.  However, a big win can give the player hope for a dramatic improvement in the quality of life.  This can be compared to a quantum leap. 

Yes, the probability of a big win is small.  However, this probability is greater than zero. 

Therefore, it makes sense to wait and hope for this event.  I recalled a well-known anecdote...

One person at the end of his life turned to God with the words - "Lord! I so wanted to win $1,000,000 in the lottery... Why didn't you give me such an opportunity?!"  "I have $1,000,000 for you, I just wanted you to buy a lottery ticket."  God answered him.

Good sports betting to bet on, according to my understanding it all depends on the type of sport itself, for example: football, basketball, tennis, boxing and so on.

Some people bet on sports they master several fields, it all does not escape the level they understand the sport, say: opposing team football.
Example:
Southampton vs. Crystal Palace have won some of their matches and meetings with Southampton and have won and Crystal Palace have also won plus a draw during their matches, to determine the next win, if you want to bet you have to look at the players from both teams, in a match against the other team, because they are balanced.
Boxing, it's a different story that has to be seen from the physicality of the two opponents, their skills and careers while in the ring, tennis is almost the same as boxing because it only has two or four players.

Anything excessive is disastrous.  So no matter whether you play to win or play to have fun, there must be self-discipline with it.  There are lots of people, especially students who have gone astray because of playing video games.  They are there to have fun first but later got addicted.  The same example is why people drink cola or alcohol or smoke.   Fun first then vices later.

I think that if someone knows any league very well, so well that even better than bookmakers can determine the probabilities of the outcome of events in this league, then it is still extremely doubtful that he can make it his source of income for a living. The main reason is a small number of events - after all, out of all the events in this league, you need to choose those where the bookmakers made a mistake with the probability estimate (significantly) and place a bet.
