Can you anyone recommend a Bitcoin mixing service that is legit, please? It seems there are a lot of scamming bastards around that purport to provide this service (I just had the misfortune of dealing with one).

Sincere thanks in advance.

I can suggest Chipmixer since they don't charge specific fees and currently the best regarding the privacy, security and their services. If you want to check other mixers and also the scam mixers, you can check here 2022 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites

Here's another reason why Chipmixer is better among other mixers.
In my thesis, I attacked coinmixer.se (at the time of writing it was the biggest centralized mixing service), however - except chipmixer.com1 - every other centralized mixing service I checked could be broken in a similar fashion.

1 Chipmixer was the only centralized mixing service which I did not break fully. However, I did not put much work into checking this mixing service.

A million thanks, I'll check that out.

It seems Blender.io is down (a bit suspicious), and CryptoMixer has an expired security certificate (a bit worrying).

I am not actually using any Bitcoin mixing service platform nor am planning to do in the foreseeable future but what I know is that Chipmixer is the best, most reliable and definitely a non-scam on this arena. Chipmixer is well-known in this forum because of their signature promotional activities and since it lasted for years already with above-average ratings from users then maybe this is really worth checking in.

ChipMixer easily has the best and longest standing reputation among all bitcoin mixers.

A point to note though: Do not find the link to use via a web search. The number of fake and malicious clones is staggering. Here is the link you should use (Tor preferred both for privacy and security):

http://chipmixorflykuxu56uxy7gf5o6ggig7xru7dnihc4fm4cxqsc63e6id.onion/

You can verify this link is correct in their official thread mk4 linked to above.

CoinJoin service: Wasabi / Samourai / JoinMarket
Wasabi now spy on their users and censor transactions, so I would no longer recommend them.

I don't fully know about Bitcoin mixing services, have never used them and in the future I might not necessarily try it, but if you want to know which is a good bitcoin mixing service and highly recommended, I suggest you to try using Chipmixe, a lot of things I have with about this Chipmixer some say this Chipmixer makes us a little worried about it because some say the security certificate has expired.

But I got a news that this Chipmixer is very safe to use compared to some other mixers. Chipmixer security is very strict and very private which keeps many users safe, many users say their service is also very good. I see this Chipmixer is also very good role in this Forum and has a good promotion. this is the right choice if you want to use it, Chipmixer is proven to be very safe and not a scam.

...some say this Chipmixer makes us a little worried about it because some say the security certificate has expired...

Fake news...

Read the topic a second time, the user was talking about Cryptomixer

(edit: at the time this guy posted it was still fake news. As of today, people reading my post should follow this link)

@o_e_l_e_o is right about Wasabi. I commented about it a few days ago

Wasabi starts blocking certain transactions to its CoinJoin mixing protocol. Crazy but true.

I'm totally disappointed by their move and a large setback. The "certain transactions" are not defined but since it was done to protect their company from hackers and scammers' funds (as they say), we can have a guess but who knows how deep they go. They may end up with a partnership with Elliptic, Chainanalysis and co.  Cheesy
If they were not under a company, they wouldn't need to take such action that we could name censorship.

As of now, the zkSNACKs coordinator will start refusing someUTXOs from registering to coinjoins. Either you switch to joinmarket or run the coordinator and configure wasabi for you., I don't know, but I'm sure I have never see a mixer with such acts

A million thanks, I'll check that out.

It seems Blender.io is down (a bit suspicious)
It looks like they have been off for a while. Both the clearnet and Tor links don't load  Roll Eyes

This was what they said 20 days ago. Not sure when they plan to resume.
Services blender.io and blenderwallet.io are closed for maintenance. Completion dates for technical work will be announced later.
Your funds in Blender Wallet are safe. You can wait for the service to open or access them with a mnemonic and passphrase in the Electrum wallet or any other compatible wallet.
For those who have not received mixing results, they will be sent when the service starts.
We apologize for the inconvenience, please do not worry, the services will be resumed in the near future

and CryptoMixer has an expired security certificate (a bit worrying).
Apparently the clearnet has an issue and they are working on it. Do not use it. The Tor version is still working.

This was their update today

SERVICE DISRUPTION

Kindly note, clearnet mirror [banned mixer] is unavailable. We're working to bring it back. Use the official Tor v3 address to access the mixer:

ChipMixer represent a great new model in mixing industry. i wonder why other mixers not use the same techniques (chips with unique keys to withdraw) and all other features. The ongoing signature campaign can tell how this company is reliable and trusted.

Okay, so chipmixer.com appears to be down, so I used the onion link (http://chipmixorflykuxu56uxy7gf5o6ggig7xru7dnihc4fm4cxqsc63e6id.onion). I've made my deposit and had 6 confirmations. I've refreshed the page a few times and it appears not to be acknowledging the transaction.

Is there a minimum amount they can process? I am reluctant to transfer large amounts for obvious reasons. I can't access the FAQs (may be a problem with Tor Browser).

I was hopeful for the ChipMixer suggestion, but I just clicked their banner ad on this page and received a 504 error. Is this typical? I was using blender.io until they disappeared last week. I got scammed at  Anonymix, (only lost $200) so I don't need any more surprises right now...

It looks like I may have deposited less than the minimum amount, which seems to be 0.001 BTC (though who can blame me).

The onion site seems to work okay, which is a relief.

ChipMixer works in multiples of 0.001 BTC. Anything you deposit will be rounded down to the nearest 0.001 BTC increment, with whatever is left over treated as a donation/fee, since you don't actually pay any fees on the mixing or withdrawal process. If you deposit <0.001 BTC, it will all be treated as a donation. If you were to deposit 0.00543 BTC, for example, you would be credited with 0.005 BTC, and 0.00043 BTC would be given as a donation.

The smallest chip you can withdraw is 0.001 BTC. Chips then go up in size in powers of 2, so 0.002 BTC, 0.004 BTC, 0.008 BTC, and so on, up to 8.192 BTC.

This is all explained on their FAQ page. It works normally for me via the Tor link I posted above.

Wasabi now spy on their users and censor transactions, so I would no longer recommend them.
Sorry, would you mind explaining and sharing more about it?

I know that Wasabi wallet for a long time is one of most favorite wallet with Coin Join transaction and Tor connection. I did not know about what censorship Wasabi do on their users. In addition, why did they do that? Under pressure and requirement from governments or something else just related to their internal policy changes.

Sorry, would you mind explaining and sharing more about it?
Sure.

About 6 weeks ago, Wasabi announced on twitter that zkSNACKs, the entity which runs the coordinator for the all the coinjoin transaction which take place through Wasabi wallet, would start censoring some inputs and refusing to allow them to partake in coinjoins. Wasabi then explained on Telegram that they would be hiring a blockchain analysis company, which would monitor and surveil every user of Wasabi and ever UTXO stored on a Wasabi wallet and decide which ones were and were not allowed to partake in coinjoins. They have since revealed that they did this voluntarily to protect their own operations and therefore their own profits, and not because they were forced to because of any government, law, or regulation.

Wasabi is now pro-censorship and anti-privacy. They should be avoided, unless you like seeing your coinjoin fees go straight to a blockchain analysis company which is being paid to spy on you and you specifically.

Thanks for explaining that so succinctly.

I take it there are no differences in terms of security when using large or small amounts, including 0.001 BTC?

I take it there are no differences in terms of security when using large or small amounts, including 0.001 BTC?
The main security consideration is the same with any platform, service, or exchange, to which you have to deposit your coins; mainly that you do not have custody of your coins for the duration that they are on said platform. With that in mind, you might prefer to split up (for example) 1 BTC in to a number of smaller deposits and withdraw all or some of each deposit before sending the next deposit, so you are never leaving more than, say, 0.2 BTC with ChipMixer at any time. Or you may decide that is more hassle than it is worth and just deposit the full 1 BTC in one go. Up to you.

There are some privacy considerations, though. Understandably, larger chips are withdrawn far less often than smaller chips. If you were to deposit 1.024 BTC (or slightly more), and then immediately withdraw a 1.024 BTC chip, then you weaken your privacy.

In addition to waiting some time between deposits and withdrawals, you can also split and merge deposits to aid with both the points I have made above. You could deposit 0.2 BTC, and then a few days later withdraw 0.128 BTC and leave 0.072 BTC with ChipMixer. Then, a few days after that, you deposit another 0.2 BTC, giving you 0.272 BTC, and allowing you to withdraw 0.256 BTC. By leaving some coins on ChipMixer and depositing and withdrawing from a pool over a period of days, weeks, or months, you maximize your privacy, and you can also make a number of smaller transactions rather than mixing your full stack at once.
