It is painful that in my country where I come from, most things thought in schools are not applicable in real life anymore, and yet people keep learning and are graduating with these chunk theories year by year. You come to see a system still working with an educational curriculum written for 3 decades (i.e 30years) without any adjustments and improvement, which is very bad. As you are made to see students still learning updated courses rather than following up with the new trends, learning subjects like "Typewriter" &  "Shorthand" which I think are of no use in this modern 21st century when we have a desktop, laptop & I-pads which makes work easier and even faster. But thou, I stand to be corrected on this point of mine.

Because, Cryptocurrency has been around for over a decade-plus now, and yet not many people talking about it. However, thanks to El Salvador and other nations who initiated the idea of making Bitcoin a legal tender, which initially increased the adoption of cryptocurrencies worldwide, and that's the reason why I'm writing this thread now because I think its high time we go beyond merely accepting it as a legal tender but pushing further to introducing it as a course in our various institutions of learning. As cryptocurrency has come to stay and not going anywhere, the earlier we understand this now and tap into it, the better for us.

There are so many opportunities in cryptocurrency which I think it will be a good idea if made into a faculty in our institutions (i.e Faculty of Cryptocurrency) where students come to learn practically everything about cryptocurrencies within a period of  2 to 4 years and be awarded a certificate of learning different things as;

1. Dex  -  (How to launch, types  &, etc,)

2. Cex: - (How to launch, types  &, etc,)

3. Defi: (How to launch, types  &, etc,)

4. Dapps development.

5. Smart contract

6. Crypto Mining & Staking

7. Crypto marketing

8. Blockchain development

9. Campaign management (Airdrop & Bounty)

10. NFT: (How to create, market  & sell)

And many others not mentioned above, because cryptocurrency has come to stay and people are making a living out of the available crypto skills listed above.

Because just as we have Department of marketing and Insurance, introducing cryptocurrency into our schools of learning where students are offered an opportunity to exploit all the fields and areas of cryptocurrency, will be the best decision ever made.

So, Thank you...

So what is your take on this???

Do you think cryptocurrency should be introduced as a course in our higher institutions??

 Or

Do you think it's not yet time??

As a general course in the higher institution, yes...but not a faculty. If a new faculty called "Faculty of Cryptocurrency" according to OP is created, in my opinion...it will have the mass of applicants and will create a deficit to other core career options needing professionals. That is more young people will choose it over the other career choices.

As a general course, everyone gets to benefit and not just a selected few that had their applications approved.

Are you sure? Cryptocurrency is the talk in the world now and also schools are now having courses in blockchain.

However, thanks to El Salvador and other nations who initiated the idea of making Bitcoin a legal tender, which initially increased the adoption of cryptocurrencies worldwide
It's a good thing that El Salvador make bitcoin a legal tender but there was no much adootion because of that but probably some countries may join later.

I think its high time we go beyond merely accepting it as a legal tender but pushing further to introducing it as a course in our various institutions of learning.
Time will tell, there are many universities offering crypto courses now.

Some institutions that have crypto courses

Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Harvard University
National University of Singapore
Cornell University
University of California, Berkeley

Read more and read about the course the universities are offering
Top universities have added crypto to the curriculum

For the next generation of crypto billionaires, early orientation on tech-know-how is paramount in the sense that the early bird gets the worm. What i mean is this, the upcoming generation have the opportunity to do better seeing the advancement the crypto world has witnessed recently. How best would the world economy improve order than inculcating the right knowledge on how to earn without seeking a job and wasting meaningless time working to make someone else richer. Young minds should be exposed to this knowledge early either in the form of classes or as an additional or exceptional course of study in higher institutions so as to the ease the pressure associated with job seeking and other juvenile deliquencies after spending an ample amount of time studying a course that doesnt secure cash flow or promise security.

If i was exposed to crypto earlier on while i was still in college, it would have enabled me make the best use of my time, talent, health and other resources of which i now struggle  to maintain in equillibrum. Responsibilities in the form of family care, health care, bill payments in any form would have become less stressfull, because it would have been easy to stay focused and amass wealth unlike what it is now.

Furthemore, with the way the world is now going by trading or conducting business with the use of crypto, i see a future where countries would adopt this currency for use on a wide scale, both old and young would be able to pay bills, explore other hidden talents and fund them without taking loans that might be unpayable.

Learning have taken different perspectives over the years. There are what is what to schooling and schooling as it is now, especially for those not taking professional course (of course all courses are professions) but in this context I mean courses like Nursing, Medicine, Law, etc.

It becomes less practical what you learn in school. Learning is more of a gaining of ideas. Variable ideas that you can apply everywhere. Perhaps an upgrade on what we like to call common sense that isn't common in our days.

Cryptocurrency would have its time and you can tell its slowly but surely approaching, looking from its level of adoption.

My opinion is that the study of cryptocurrencies has not yet been introduced as a special subject, because not in all countries cryptocurrencies are officially recognized at the state level. Yes, there is a lot of information about bitcoin and other alternative coins, but there is also a lot of negative information that is spreading and thus hindering general acceptance.
But fortunately, today, the Internet allows us to independently and consistently study everything that interests us.

If cryptocurrency is introduced in the higher institution it will be nice, for now it can't be possible because most government is against crytocurrency and they see it as a threat. So therefore,  crytocurrency can't be a subject in the the higher institutions,  the government are in charge of most higher institutions and they are the ones to decide what will be in the school curriculum.
If crytocurrency is not introduced in the higher institutions it it is not a problem those who are willing to learn crytocurrency can still learn it from different sources.

You have a good point, but introducing it into the educational system of those nation that accepts Bitcoin will go a long way. One thing I also observed is that governments hate to açcept what they can't control, and Bitcoin is one asset that can't be controlled, that's why

Yeah, I think you are right, crypto should be introduced to our schools, plenty of graduate are out here jobless, which after looking for job and all went in vain will still have to go back to learn crypto without any lecturers or so..then imagine being thought about crypto how many individuals will do so well in crypto. So it will be so nice to see crypto being thought in schools.

The other day I called a friend in the higher institution and she said she was about having lectures I asked which course and she said short-hand. I was like how? Which department and she said Office Technology Management. Indeed there is a misplacement of priority and the government doesn't want to take charge.
Syllabus are not updated and schools keep embarking of strikes.
The lawmakers are not ready to pass laws that will benefit the masses.
Then, introducing cryptocurrency in higher institution is good but how can you do it in some countries that has banned bitcoin.
You must first accept bitcoin before you will agree to teach it to your citizens.

I think crypto currency can be tackled maybe in any IT related courses. But to totally have a separate course? I disagree with it though, crypto is still fairly young and I don't think that any educational department are going to include it. Maybe just to touch base on the subject, but if these students wanted to get involved in crypto, maybe the best way is to be really a blockchain developer which can be included in IT courses, in my opinion.

Of course, and I think this is what makes a lot of people only know and be interested in value rather than technical interests. I have to admit that specific lessons about cryptocurrencies can help many people get to know crypto better, but it is true that the internet has helped a lot of people so far even though most of us only know the basics.

Apart from that regulation and legality should not prevent many people from knowing and learning about crypto properly, but I think people's interest in crypto is still oriented towards its value "trade and investment".

Maybe another topic of blockchain and crypto but not about cex and dex. Like smart contract, and other useful things to study with. If the subject is about makimg tokens alone or just to trade then thats not gonna be an additional benefit when added to a higher institution a lot of schools, are gonna be all over it but of course Government will not take this lightly and will ask more reviews.

The government as the head to every country will not be a big fan of making crypto currency as a course in schools and as a special subject in secondary schools.
But Yes, this is a solid idea we all know the benefits of Cryptocurrencies as they have sure come to stay. If you're very good at this then I'll advise you do it your little way to educate people, children and students about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin.
But to everything that has a good side has a bad also, so do well to tell them about the risks involved (don't skip it, Don force them to invest and please tell em to do their own research)
It won't be added fully but can be an additional course or borrowed one, every sector has to keep up with the current trend and that's Cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin.

The Western Education has never taught how to be very wealthy. They train you to be able to occupy their industry as engineers, HRs, Managers and labourers.
I have never seen a course as Wealth creation 105 in the higher institutions.
In other words, bitcoin and cryptocurrencies teaches how to be independent and free, then the government wouldn't teach you to be independent and free.
If everyone becomes free and financially stable, the government will not be able to control anyone and that will be rebellious.
So, teach yourself, your friends and relatives about Bitcoin, the government cannot do so.
