I was spending some time with my friends parents and there was not only a huge party but all of them placed p2p bets on the horse racing. They asked me to come over as well, the ending was deeply sad and essential to cover : The horse died after winning of a heart attack.

The horse was presenting signs of heart attack on the camera but no one was actually even giving it a second thought and at the end when it was the last lap, all the horses got whipped excessively hard as well. That gets me to my point "why do you support horse racing?" This is honestly far to cruel to continue.

This is a very ancient sport/game. It is not going to get banned. Probably never. Lots of football players die of heart attack every year. They run like horses too. The are many similarities between a horse race and a soccer game. Just because footballers die sometimes, do we need to ban football/soccer? This logic don't make any sense to me.

Even humans do have heart attack. Horses are not giving medical care like humans.

You want horse race to be banned? Then you should want human 100 meter, others short distance and marathon races to be banned too.

If you want it to be banned, I mean hourse race, you want many other races to be banned, such as dog race. If you want that, you need to have political power. Even if you have political power, there are many chances that your proposal may not be accepted.

Humans choose to, footballers choose their sports, they choose to be there. I do not think that anyone should even need a reason to stop animal cruelty. Plus gambling fuels this majorly. Horse betting is so popular especially in England.

I think the sport and the bets don't need to be banned, but the issues you mentioned above instead. If horses are found being abused, drugged and not cared properly at all, the responsible people for them should be sued, fined and probably arrested in some cases. We know there are animals suffering in every sports they get directly or indirectly involved, although it's too extremist to ban everything because of it.

In horse racing favour I can say horses must be well cared if the managers want them to improve performance and compete for a longer time. Smart managers aren't fool to harm expensive pure breed horses, making them live for less time. That would be unprofitable. So these horses have VIP treatment, feeding and training much superior to common horses we see at pastures.

I understand your sentiments OP but we all know that you cannot put a ban easily just because of that certain reason.  Racehorses are expected to collapse or worst they die when heart attacks develop, and this sudden death do happens regardless how healthy or unfit the horse is. Not only in horseracing, but even in cockfighting as well. We often see roosters end their lives after a fight. So banning these kind of sports are still useless, as gamblers will always play on it not because of their winning bets, but because these games have already been established long time ago.

Just because it do shows animal cruelty doesnt mean that you would really be considering on banning it because if we do just stick around on that kind of rule or law then livestock killing
wont really be that happening.Just like on what others saying that this is an ancient game or sport on which it is not really that possible that it would really be banned nor being stopped

There is a huge money in horse racing so for sure they will not ban this. All those horses are well maintained for sure because they can’t compete if they are not, its just that they are being abuse for that reason, its very unfortunate but seriously, bettors don’t really care about this, they are too focused on their bets and the result of the race. this sports has been with the mankind for so long already. i don't think a movement can eradicate this racing sports. we just accept the fact that a lot of these horses will have their bad fate once their time is over. doping i guess, would always be one of the illegal methods that owners will use to make sure their horses will run faster during the race. but unfortunately, death is one of the aftereffect of this method. this is already ingrained in our culture, so i don't think a protest or movement will make this sports stop for good.

I think it boils down on animal cruelty, if a country is against it, then ban all form of animal gambling, i.e. horse racing, cock fight etc.

But this is a licensed sports, as far as I know, even in the Olympics, we have equestrian events (I know it's not horse racing, but the point is that it involves the animal as well and it is considered as universal sports). So I guess this is a case to case basis, really up to the government whether to ban it or not. Even in the US though, horse racing is allowed and permitted, they even have high stake horse racing, the Triple Crown.

If we look at the implication it may cause to the animals we can really point it out that its animal cruelty since we see how the horse exhausted after the race but unfortunately we cannot see this stop because this is big industry already and for sure there are officials protecting this industry to continue and we don't know if they get some huge taxes on it since many people are still betting on this type of equestrian performance sport.

Horse racing is one of the most popular and probably high stake betting game as far as I know so it is bringing lot of money to everyone who is involved including the government, to be honest I feel like they shouldn't be treated in that way but as long as it is giving money then no one is going to care about it

Probably there should be more restrictions on the game which also includes the elimination of whipping ( if possible) and others which are considered as cruel to the animal.

It could be animal cruelty but taking in the horse owner's perspective if you own a horse that is competing in a race you will make sure that your horse is in a tip-top condition I read that horse owners are spending a lot of money to get a horse in a competitive form and the organizing committee will see to it that the race is above standard and all horses are in top and condition because the last thing you want to see in your events is horse racing dying in a race track, it will cast doubts not only on the race but on the whole organization.

This game is one of the old games from the time and some people abuse those horses because of the money thing mostly happens to the competitive horses like have already gained a title role because they don't want to lose those as a holder also another thing is it depends on the owners how they manage their horses how they treat them not all the horse racer owner doing this thing to their pet still they treat those are part of their family.if this thing got banned I guess due to respect with other games also animal involvement.
