Who is your bitcoin hero?

Who do you look up to in this space, or think is the most amazing person within the bitcoin world?

I think Sirius - Martti Malmi is mine. Here's a kid still in college who risked for a venture that he wouldn't know would work. He was willing to be open with others across the world. He lost bitcoin trying to be honest, as far as I can tell, with others when running the first exchanges.

I have never really though about it. I was always very impressed with Andreas Antonopoulos and his efforts to familiarize people with Bitcoin. You would expect someone like that who got in early to have gathered a significant amount, but Andreas didn't. He did own some Bitcoin from the early days but announced he sold everything to pay his debts and help his family. When Roger Ver made fun of him for not investing in time and getting rich, the community stepped in and he received donations of like 100 BTC or something like that. That's a pretty impressive thing. So my hero is the community who pooled their money together to help one of their own who deserved it.

I believe those early OG bitcoiners are true heroes - the ones like Laszlo Hanyecz and others who remain anonymous. They distributed or sold for peanuts tens of thousands of their bitcoin to ensure that Bitcoin did not become centralised.

Thinking of it, I do not follow notable names in the Bitcoin world, a few names pop up like Hal Finney, but overall I do not really look up to anyone in the Bitcoin community. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of notable members who have cobtributed immensely to the growth of Bitcoin many of which would not be k own publicly.

This forum and all the members who keep it going as the most reliable resource for Bitcoin discussions after quite a number of years would pass as my Bitcoin heros and heroines.

Well given those names, it's worthy to count those early investors and believers of bitcoin. I do agree what mbitr said about the OGs.

I don't know many of them since I can say that I'm quite late already with the party. But these guys deserve recognition when the world didn't believed bitcoin.

They were there when majority of the people that have knew it bashed them and did fun of what they've discovered.

I believe those OGs who contributed in early days when Satoshi was still active was the real heroes beside him/her/they. For now, I believe it was the holders, those who make the crypto community known, those who has nodes, those developers that still supporting Bitcoin with its upgrades. These are the existing heroes I can think of.

Satoshi created this forum. See how the world is giving people false information like verify your account and be rewarded $5. The privacy of people is getting to the point it is not possible. Without this forum, many people will not know how bitcoin is working and five out their information without knowing the risks first.

I like Satoshi Nakamoto for creating a coin called bitcoin and also the founder of this forum. Bitcoin is not anonymous but made it in a way people can have privacy.

I like Laszlo for the move to sell bitcoin, this is the most part I like about bitcoin. With this people know that bitcoin has value, that it is money.

I like many staff and members on this forum, members that specifically talks about bitcoin.

My hero would be the Bitcoin community, reasons are
• Members of the bitcoin community are curious and take the deep dive to learn the technical aspect of bitcoin and blockchain
• No one in the crypto space has a stronger hodling mentality like the bitcoin community. This has helped me to build a strong mind as well.
• The community is not fooled when imposters claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto
Theymos created this forum.
I must have read my bitcointalk history wrong. Did Theymos create bitcointalk?

I have corrected that, it's a mistake. Satoshi is the founder of this forum and only him/her/them has/have that unique silver icon.

It will be sirius. One of the OGs who contributed to bitcoin's development also the first to help satoshi with it, even owned/managed both bitcoin.org and bitcointalk.org domain/website, also becomes admin here.
He did a lot without asking anything in return just believed the technology they worked on.

According to what exists online, Sirius - Martti Malmi was one of the first to contact Satoshi and offer his help, which resulted in Bitcoin evolving to what it is today. Just as Hal Finney went down in history as the person to create the first Bitcoin transaction with Satoshi, Malmi went down in history as the first person to make a BTC -> fiat transaction.

I would have a hard time deciding that I have to choose between Hal and Malmi, although most people have great sympathy for Hal Finney who unlike Malmi remained on the forum until his death. Without diminishing Malmi's merits in the very beginning for Bitcoin, I think it's a shame that he distanced himself from the forum he actually created.

Maybe Malmi was a lot more like Satoshi when he decided to move away from Bitcoin, which is somewhat understandable.

Agreed. They are both giants.

Hal worked on cryptocurrency methods before Satoshi, and was the first public supporter and first public transaction.

Martti filled a crucial period. Hal was active until late Jan 2009 and then again nearly two years later, where Martti was active after Apr 2009. Martti helped establish this forum, rewrote parts of the website, learned to code, did debugging and porting, was the first public exchange that we have proof of in late 2009 and then later.

Without either of them, it may never have gotten as much traction.

Martti might be around to speak for himself, but possibly not. I can imagine that he left the community after being burned. It's only a guess from my end. He had an bitcoin exchange where he was using paypal for bitcoin transactions in 2010, and bitcoin was just becoming serious money. Serious enough (pun not intended) to become the targets of scams. Users could have reversed their paypal transactions and cost him money. Between that, wikileaks accepting bitcoin donations, Gavin's CIA visit, and other things, it's a no wonder that he moved away and is reasonably quiet about most of it. I hope that we can one day hear more about what he'd like to say because I'm certain it's very interesting and more in depth than what we've heard so far.

Have my Mentor Davinci J15 as my Bitcoin Hero.he's one of the earliest investors that got in even when btc was under $1 and he didn't sell till today, according to him he was being laughed by he's friends whom he advised to buy Bitcoin during that time and how he buys into the ideas of a Ponzi system without knowing the full identity of the creator.

The one who introduced me to BTC is my hero, he is unknown though. I only worked with him on his website and gave me some BTC in 2016. And then  I learn this forum as I search how to use the wallet. Many things comes after it and was here already trying to invest on ICOs. The most noticeable are always going to be the trustworthy and becomes a hero for us.  Without Antonopoulos, I wouldn't really learn how money works and the details about BTC.

Bitcoin heroes in my eyes are people who put their full trust in Bitcoin up to this moment, no matter whether he is a beginner or a long-timer about Bitcoin, no matter if he holds a large number of bitcoins or only a few Sats. Because for me when that person decides to drop his money in Bitcoin because he believes in taking advantage of it long term then he is still a hero. In every way, my view of the hero is to contribute to adoption even if it's only $1 in Bitcoin.

The heroes of bitcoin are those holders who have tried their best not to deposit to a centralized service since they started to fully support the concept of decentralized bitcoin. To be honest it wasn't easy and it just failed a few times.

I'm just worried about people slowly changing their bitcoin transactions to a "centralized" method because it's too convenient. Surely that's not good, especially if all the bitcoins was mined.

This space for rent.
