like when did Nicehash bought Excavator as their own miner?

You are too young...

Zawawa, Gateless miner, was asked to join excavator from NH to speed things up and got paid. It was march 2018..Still I dont like NH aniway...

I've gone to a pool since the day NH was hacked, I did not thought about them building an excavator.

The news is great and this will pump LHR cards, or is it just a strategy to dispense all of old cards and getting ready for the new series of cards? I've been to mall early this morning and there is no single LHR card that I've found, they were all gone and this frustrates me for being late of the news.

NBMiner 41.0 now has 100% unlock as well:

https://github.com/NebuTech/NBMiner/releases

Just tested and its legit:

dang, I was hoping for nicehash release to be some dual mining hack lol
Seems like it's real and nvidia themselves made it happen somehow since the demand of their cards is declining.
Also GPU mining is going to be very much dead soon (chain merging + difficulty bomb ), might as well generate more revenue till Q3, before it ends. Well played NoVidya.

Diff bomb hasn't been set yet. There was a talk upcoming on 13/05 about whether to set it up now or delay it since record of diff bombs goes off, avg transaction's time increase and hurt the ETH ecosystem in a short term. Though I do think diff bomb is needed if ETH wants to move from PoW to PoS. This late release of 100% unlock hashrate for nvidia LHR cards feels like a prisoner's last dinner, really. Don't know if it was good news or bad news since ETH diff for now will increase further.

I think it will take this entire month to know for certain.  Even devs aren't sure whether they can push a stable merge with all clients before the bomb. But there's a good chance of merging before August or Sept. Recent shadowforks are going pretty well with minor bugs.

There's still a chance of another hard fork delay tho lol
It's like a Hitchcock movie, we won't know for sure until the last week(possibly last day) of this month.

Either way, I am selling off my GPUs. Can't take that risk Smiley
Best time for selling non LHR cards was last week, second best time is now.

I can verify that it doesn't work with 3080 12GB.

I've got a theory.  The nvidia hack was real.  The nvidia hack happened before the 3080 12GB data could be added to the data that was hacked.  Therefor, no 3080 12GB code to unlock.  Nicehash bought the data from the hackers (whatever the price might have been).

And hence, Nicehack is born... they didn't really spend much resources in development.

that's my story and i'm sticking to it.

i'm trademarking NiceHack...  Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy

Extremely curious that both the Nicehash and NBminer unlocks require the latest Nvidia driver to work, and both won't work with the v3 LHR. It's almost as if Nvidia "coordinated" this unlock to sell off remaining ampere GPUs in preparation for Ada/4000 series.

It's pretty hard to know what ETH teams are up to right now or maybe they are even in conjunction with Nvidia, I am sure that since the 100% LHR unlock news came out many will still be crazy enough to go out and buy new LHR cards, thinking things will be this way for a long time.

Are you seeing a big rise in ETH hashrate?
https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate
Or the community hasn't updated their miners and mining software yet, or the LHR video cards are very few in mining.

It will take at least a week to see an increment in hashrate due to 100% lhr unlock. Few people are aware of it or haven't got the time to update yet.

The increase will be very small (3-4%) because LHR video cards are a fraction of the network hashrate, even under worst-case assumptions.

And they require admin priviledges. This suggests a driver featurebug that can fully disable LHRv2 and is easilly hacked.
This unocker could break in a future driver version.

No way, I was monitoring ETH mining difficulty for days now and the day that the news of the LHR unlock was released ETH mining difficulty rose from 13.8 P to 14.8P, now the difficulty is crashing as well maybe because people now see that the unlock makes not much difference in profits lol.

Very interesting.  I'm also not very interested in this at the moment due to profitability and the fact that summer and it's demonic heat are quickly approaching my neck of the woods.  In fact, I've shut down a few miners already but maybe with this 100% LHR unlock I'll think about firing up my one LHR model to see how it goes.  Mostly I hope that this doesn't stay a secret for long and other miners are able to accomplish this same unlock so that we aren't stuck using Nicehash software.  I don't see any reason why on anything besides a LHR model you would use their software, so maybe this is a big opportunity for them to win some market share.

That isn't possible because it takes a few days or a few weeks from when miners buy new rigs to when they are online. Probably just a random fluctuation or coin profit-switching.

A more extreme example of difficulty lagging behind profitability is ASIC mining, where mining farms take weeks or months to build, so hashrate takes a long time to catch up.

I guess I'm the only idiot who runs GPUs underclocked to get that sweet hash without the massive heat bonus.  Nevertheless, I slapped an underclocked 3060ti onto this Nicehash miner to see what it would do.  I'm now getting 43mh/s as opposed to the 27mh/s I was getting prior to this.  Granted it isn't the 60mh/s that others are claiming with a 3060ti, but it's definitely an improvement and my miner is sitting at temps that make me smile.  I'm not going to play around with overclocking and trying to get that 60+ number, because summertime, but I'm satisfied with this improvement and hope it comes to other miners soon.  Using Nicehash software makes me feel like I need a shower.
