Does gaming makes memory temp on 3070Ti less hot than mining? No matter what I do to my 3070ti it always shows 96°C when mining and 86°C when gaming, I tried GTA V and Call Of Duty multiplayer but only gaming makes my GPU run extremely hot.

3070ti uses GDDR6X, like 3080, 3090...so it's hot, more than other cards
You temps are not bad, some people mining have more than 100ºC, but you can try to reduce 96ºC to at least 92ºC In game your temps are good enough to not worry, in mining your card will use more from memories than in gaming
A cheap alternative is just put a fan blowing air on your backplate The other alternatives are thermal pad change, but I don't like this idea if you have warranty or don't know how to do the service

my post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5397004.msg60043534#msg60043534If the memory temperature does not rise above 100 degrees, then play or mine. But you will probably need to replace the thermal pads.

Arctic MX-5 thermal paste will decrease the cards temperature by a whole lot. Get some Vodka, a few Q-tip swabs and clean debris off the fans. Whats your GPU fan set to? Maybe it's set to auto. Is the rig near the window? If it's in desktop case, try removing a side panel. Also if it's plugged directly into the motherboard it tends to be hotter then GPUs using risers.

Change the thermal paste can reduce temps from GPU, but not from memory In some cases they can even increase tempsfrom memory because the person need to disassembly and assembly the thermal pads in the perfect spot and give the right pressure to mount. The right service to do is to change thermal pads to reduce the memory temps, but if the card have warranty I don't see reasons to do if the card is under 100ºC But your advice about GPU fan set and desktop airflow is good and can help reduce some degrees

You need a high quality thermal pad like Gelid Solution or Arctic, make sure you replace with the exact size of the thermal pad you remove inside the graphic card, but honestly I will only worry if my GPU mem Temperature is over 100°C, in your own case you are still good to go.

Thanks rdluffy for clearing that up for me. In that case, it could be wrong size thermal pads or displaced thermal pads from a bad reassemble. If it's bought used you might want to do a little tear-down for sure. I heard GPUrisers is other good option: https://gpurisers.com/product/gpu-memory-thermal-pads/

Gigabyte or MSI? Gaming trio or xc3 ultra evga? You can get the exact thermal pad size that the GPU use.

The best option is to disassemble the video card and measure the thickness of the thermal pads yourself.

The GPU in the bios has safeguards in place if the temperature goes too high it sends a special signal to the motherboard to do an emergency shut down.
So if it’s not shutting down you are most likely fine. They design GPUs to run extremely hot. I had many old GPUs and they ran at like 80-90 degrees on GPU chips for years because AMD design them to be quiet. So it had high temps to not be crazy loud and it lasted like 5 years before I sold it. So I wouldn’t worry about damaging anything.

Your GPU is fine the way it is, when the right time to change the thermal pad comes you will be seeing your GPU memory temp over 100°C, for now its safe to game or to keep mining, I would advice you to look into copper thermal pad for your card and be prepared to use this in future.

Thanks for your replies I found a solution using hiveOS for the first time and locking the power consumption to your own taste, now I am at 174 watt and my temp is at 84°C, is rather lose hashrate than let my memory temp runs so high.
