It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

That is the protective rule, 'do not release coin until you are sure that your account has been credited', with the exact amount.

If money is released from escrow without verifying from your bank account, that can result to scam.

Also, you should not rely on alert, you should login into your account and be certain that you have been credited with the exact amount that should be credited.

You have add this kind of theft in the "HOW TO DETECT SCAMS" in your Binance p2p thread But you were scammed still.

Is there a chance that you can take back the BTC?  If its too late for them (binance) to stop the transaction, I could see they will just reason that your sister already clicked the button confirming she received them.

This-should-be-obvious tip: only transact with buyers/sellers with a crap ton of completed orders and a very high percentage of positive feedback.

If you really got duped though, I think there's a good chance of Binance helping you out; don't forget that they can check the chain.

I've never been scammed on binance P2P trading before, in fact its very safe if you follow the rules, do not release funds unless you see you receive your asset or money, also do trades with those that have a high rating only, I choose traders with 92%- 100% successful trades.

The the person failed to credit her why did she click on PAID? The fault is on her end, binance is holding the 1500dollars waiting for you to receive the Fiat and she instead clicked on PAYMENT RECEIVED?, just pray that Binance will help you out on this one.

NEXT TIME MAKE SURE YOU GET CREDITED INTO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT BEFORE RELEASING ASSET aka clicking PAYMENT RECEIVED

sorry to hear that. I on the other hand had good experiences with Binance P2P, but I am always mindfull of what can happen and that sometimes, even me being aware of that is not enough from stopping scamers from taking my money. It's always good to protect yourself as much as you can, but it seems that even that won't be enough.

Not the OP, its his baby sister as mentioned.

Is this her first transaction on binance p2p? It should be a lesson learn to be served. There are lots of notes and warnings on how-tos in binance p2p though.
Idk if how binance can recover her future coin but they can disabled the account of the scammer if proven, also you can report the transaction where you send the $1500 if it's a bank or what.

I don't press the release button unless I have confirmed that the money really entered my account matter what the person trying to say, I have spent hours on a transaction on the Binance exchange before and this was because the other guy claimed he already sent my fund but I still don't believe until it came true... Sorry for your loss.

Scammers are everywhere and this doesn't apply only to binance but practically to any p2p exchange: never release the coins until you make sure you received the payment. For example, if you are expecting a wire transfer payment, don't rely on sms or email notifications, log in into your online bank account and verify you received the money. Also avoid payment methods where it's easy to make a chargeback such as PayPal.

I read the above comments, seems everyone is missing something here. Binance acts an escrow for their p2p service, the coins remain in their custody until the seller clicks “payment received”. In this case, the buyer clicked “paid” without making the payment as OP claims, it is up to the seller to confirm if the money is in her account before releasing the coin. If the money isn’t, you make an appeal immediately with proof. The coins aren’t lost, there are still in the escrow Binance takes about 72hours to do an investigation. There is also a chat box for both parties to communicate and resolve such disputes.

It should be a valuable lesson for her to learn.

Even when you click on the confirm payment button, there is another dialogue box that comes up for the seller to confirm if they have actually received the right amount and then 2FA. By the time someone clicks on all those check minus finding out if they really received the funds. Then I consider them quite careless and not paying attention to anything.

Yep. It's just either:

1. OP's friend fucked up and OP immediately created a topic asap before trying to resolve the problem with Binance or the other party
2. OP's friend transacted with a scammer
3. OP manufactured a story because reasons

When someone mark as oaid while doing p2p transactions then usually you will not get scammed unless you release the Tokens or coins, already you may see such kind of warning before releasing the trade, and also don't forget to get the payment receipt which will serve as an evidence incase if the seller claims for refund via banking.

OP's baby sister may have committed a mistake, but it was never her fault that she was a victim of a scam. The fault was on the scammer's end. And if this is not resolved favorably, also Binance's. Always, it is the fault of the scammer rather than the victim. Sometimes, I feel infuriated that a victim is blamed more than the scammer. Everybody commits a mistake every now and then. Even theymos himself who has been an early bird in this technology has mistakenly sent a thousand dollars to the wrong address.
