Commentary is underated in sports and commentators are not giving enough recognition for the role they play in sports.

I had this recent experience where I streamed live a recent premier league game and it had no audio, although it was expected to be an exciting game, I did not enjoy the game, not until the audio came up and i could now hear the commentary.

Commentators add colour and enhance our viewing experience, they are well informed about the sport and the teams in contest, and give real time updates on a live game that can even make someone new to a sport pick interest. Without commentary and sports commentators, some sporting games will be entirely very unexciting and eventually boring to watch.

I choose to differ mate, commentary is actually a big deal and it’s getting attention around the world, yes you right a match would very much be boring and lifeless without a commentator even if what we primarily need to enjoy the game is our eyes for vision, but the special voices coming from the commentary box adds meaning to the game, I have seen commentators like peter drury, Jim and the rest get good deal of recognition, I have even seen some get sponsorship deals, it’s that big now, but we shouldn’t expect it to be bigger than the players, it takes a lot to make sports complete even the referees, ball boys, stewards and the rest are all putting in their collective efforts, and the best out of them would get the recognition they deserve.

Indeed, commentators are considered by some to be very annoying, noisy, pretentious analytical, and so on, that's their right, but not everyone thinks commentators are annoying, there are also many sports fans who think that the commentator has a good function in accompanying the audience to enjoy every sports tournament.

There are several cases that I saw when a sports tournament was running, the commentators managed to make all the audience laugh, with greatness in bringing comments and humor.

The bottom line: commentators for me are personally good and important to enliven the audience, on the other hand sports are liked by almost everyone including the blind, commentators are very important for them to know the flow of the match, which obviously I enjoy the presence of commentators on the field.

Commentators were actually regarded as men behind the scene just as of a movie show, they don't show up in a match neither do they got any recognition for their wonderful presentations and role play in giving update on every match, they give a nice presentation on the real event of football match, sports, and update the public on the media, consistently talking for some minutes or hours without hesitation isn't an easy task, not to talk of the required skills, time and efforts needed to put all the talks together for a nice presentation.

They needed to be recognized as well even though not on every single match but it can be as an annual recognition award to celebrate their role, i can't imagine myself talking for about 5mins without taking a bottle of water, but this wonderful set of people do great performance in this their professional lane in making every match interesting to watch and be enjoyed, i wonder how it could have been as boring if commentators weren't present in a sport match.

Some commentators are great at sarcasm and bringing life to sporting events. Sometimes their work necessitates investigation, and I'm amazed by how they know the identities and histories of the players. If your team is fortunate enough to be leading with goals, the way they make fun of their opponents is hilarious to listen to. One thing I like about commentators is that when a channel broadcasts a sporting event, any language person may be a commentator from that side without a language barrier. It's fun when everyone can hear what's going on in their own language.

Personally, depending on the tone and manner of the commentator's presentation of any match, I'm more interested in the tone of someone who has the characteristics of bringing and atmosphere to life making the viewing more interesting. The one thing i do hate on the time that if one of the commentators becomes already that obviously bias and you could really able to find or hear it out if they are really doing such thing.

Personally I don't get much joy watching sports without commentator. Probably only sports which I can watch without commentator is tennis.
Problem for commenators that everyone have different preferences, so they can't be liked by everyone. Some people like when commenator talks just about game, others prefer when they talk about things outside the game - telling some stories about players, or talking some rumours. Worst thing when commenator haven't prepared for game that he ccomment or when he is biased.

The premier league game will not need any audio or anything. It will be the predictions of game. When you check the background of the team. It’s essential to verify the background, most of the people suggest to learn from old beginning. When I use to seeing the game in other languages, I will do the thinks of the mute of the audio of the game.

My experience is different. I used to watch matches on mute during night time, which means I don't want to disturb others sleep. During the morning time I prefer watching matches with commentary on regional language. Even when the match is going so serious, some regional language colloquial terms gives some peace of mind than just pumping high.

Commentary play a big role and gives the better watching experience. During the covid-19 lockdown we had zero audience matches, it was really bad to watch those matches.

In my own perspective, I would like to have some commentators, sometimes there's a thing in the game that they are going to explain so that people watching can understand. Commentators sometimes are the one who hyping the game they make it more alive especially if the sports is about basketball or volleyball and even in esports, but then too much noisy commentator is annoying of course.

For me this an important part of sports,i really like to hear good commentators. In my country all football ones are really boring they dont know how to comment. For Basketball they do a pretty good job. I think the best ones are from spain commentators for me they give the game a new feeling somehow

No one said that it would really affect the outcome of a certain game which these commentators are just telling on whats happening on the game but we could not deny that they are adding the spice of a certain game which it is really interesting to watch if there would be comments and someone is talking behind those plays which makes more your watching to be that good to look at

I even find it a little weird when watching the game if there are no commenters or muted sounds. because sometimes, these comments add to the seriousness as well as the excitement and even the tension of the match. And of course, another function is for us to get clearer and more detailed information about the match and also the players. So although I should lower the voice, it should be still heard and enjoyed

I guess that's why commentators should be highly knowledgeable and should know how to convert the show alive since there are really some sports that are not exciting and not interesting to watch, and without commentators the show will be worth nothing. However, there are also interesting sports already that even without commentators, they still manage the audience to enjoy and have fun. But in most sports, commentators are always present because it will keep on updating the events in the show that is happening.

Sometimes I choose to mute so I could not hear their annoying commentaries. Why would you need them in the first place when you understand the game and you are updated with what's going on for both teams?

Capturing the game ambiance is good but I would rather just listen to the crowd reaction when watching a match. I hope future devices would add "mute commentatots only" option hehe.

these commentators for me are very knowledgeable, basically everything about the game, the players and all. hard to comment on something you are not familiar of. so i appreciate their role in adding colour to the game. i also sometimes think that they are also good bettors on the game they are covering as they are very knowledgeable with it. but sometimes it is ok to mute them from time to time esp if you are focusing on the game and you also know exactly what's going on. and you don't want any disturbance or of that sort.

I will always enjoy the match or sports if there are commentary commentators. You know, even I actually don't understand all that they said because of the lack of the language, but at least, there is something great and more exciting when there are commentary and commentators. I can not imagine if there is none, it will belittle a bit annoying, keep silent, and less exciting. This is what I am feeling so far.
except that the sport is the one that needs silcen and focus enough.
