Despite the market crash, I want to collect crypto payments on my website and I've recently been hearing a lot from CoinGate in various media and looked them up as a crypto payment processor. I see that they have different reviews: some are good, some are bad, some are shady.
Do you have any experience with them? Any thoughts?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

If you *only* want to accept BTC and Lightning Network payments, then you should run BTCPayServer on your server instead. Saves you from all the red tape from KYC.
As for other altcoins, it depends on the type of store you are running.
If it's a WooCommerce store, you ought to use a payment processor that keeps an up-to-date plugin (this applies to other store types as well). That means CoinPayments or BitPay - although people here tend to prefer the former over the latter.
It's best to read the TOS of each payment processor to make sure that they can't seize your profits for whatever reason, particularly if they want to close your account. The shorter time it stays in the hands of the processor, the better.

As mentioned above, BTCPayServer is a great choice if you only want to accept LN and BTC and also have full control over your funds. Now, if you lack the technical knowledge, and you want to use a third-party site to handle everything on your behalf, then I'd go with OpenNode instead.
If you want to accept alts as well, CoinGate is a good option. I'd definitely recommend it over BitPay and CoinPayments which both can be very strict, not only to the merchants but also to the person paying.
There's also Coinbase Commerce as an alternative. The good thing about it is that you have full control over the funds and you don't have to verify your identity, but sadly, they don't support as many coins as CoinGate does.

Wow. That is new information to me. So you've verified that Coinbase Commerce doesn't require any ID verification? As in, there is not even a cap on the amount of crypto your store can process? Regarding supported coins: All stores should be good with just BTC+LN, ETH, Bcash, LTC, DOGE and USDT (any network). Other coins are extraneous to most buyers, and most processors don't list XMR for regulatory reasons.

Yes. I already gave it a try. They offer two plans actually (custodial and self-managed). I don't remember reading anything about a cap on the amount you can store. It wouldn't make sense to enforce that anyway, not when your users can simply restore their accounts elsewhere with the seed phrases.

Thank you for considering using CoinGate to accept BTC payments! CoinGate is a well-recognized crypto payment processor and we have been in the market since 2014. In fact, we were one of the first companies to integrate Bitcoin Lightning Network Payments. If you are concerned about market volatility, you can choose to convert the received BTC to EUR/USD automatically. You can easily integrate our payment solution with payment buttons, API, and official plugins for the biggest e-commerce platforms. And our automated gateway handles crypto payments every step of the way, from creating invoices to confirmation of payment to customer support. So you don't have to think about how your clients will pay with crypto and how to track paid orders. Feel free to test out our tools in a sandbox environment, where you can decide if CoinGate is a solution for you https://sandbox.coingate.com/

Hi! Am neither a software engineer nor an IT expert but what I can tell you is : 1. You can easily find good wallets which you can download on your mobile also with the lightning network as well which means you would be able to encash at any moment, save, trade and invest as well, it would be better to have full control on your mobile this might be good for you. Other than that as long as you take care of your internet security and keep your mobile safe, check everything in advance you would he able to accept payment through any way safely. Kudos on accepting bitcoins tho! Not many people do that ! With limited options as well your clients will have a nice choice as well, you can also add Altcoins too.

Take note you can able to add or support other altcoins with BTCpayserver you can read the guide on their documentation here below - https://docs.btcpayserver.org/Development/Altcoins/#how-can-i-add-an-altcoin-to-btcpayserver@pupmkin Coingate is custodial and for me, I don't trust my funds to any 3rd party service BTCpayserver as suggested above is non-custodial no one holds your funds it means you will receive payments directly to your own wallet. That's the difference of using Coingate and BTCpayserver. Do you still trust Coingate to hold your funds? Remember what others always said "Not your keys, not your coins" If you are looking for other alternatives you can check this list https://github.com/alexk111/awesome-bitcoin-payment-processors

Your answer does not make sense to me. What does your mobile wallet have to do with accepting bitcoin payments on the website? Since you asked about CoinGate, I assume he has some sort of online store or that he provides his services on the website. A personal wallet isn't useful in this case unless you want to use a fixed address for all payments.

There is a good source of crypto payment processors on Bitcointalk that you can refer to and check what is available out there. Bitcoin Payment Processors by Husires He made two tables: one for hosted and the other for self-hosted services. The OP also shows if the payment processor accepts coins via the LN, supports altcoins/fiat, minimum requirements, and the fee rates.

Do you have any experience with them? Any thoughts?
If there are many people making small payments and a lot of daily trading volumes then the CoinGate option will be convenient first then the 1% fee can be very expensive so it is best to run some open source software. They have an account in this forum, ask them and they will respond to you https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=787273I made this list you can read it Bitcoin Payment Processors https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5259548.0
