Hi all,

I have been mining almost for over a year now using 8x RTX 3080s (approx 92 MH/s per card). I have always used Nicehash for mining (using Windows 10). If I were to use a different mining software, will I be able to get a better hashrate than what I get on Nicehash these days? One of my friends was telling me that there is a huge difference in hashrates between Nicehash and some other miners but I haven't been able to try anything else yet. But if the difference is indeed large, I am tempted to give it a shot. Also, once ETH goes to PoS mode, won't it impact Bitcoin market and make it more valuable to mine?

It depends on how you fine tune your cards configuration and normal hash rate for the 3080 with just a little tuning is that 92 Mhsh you have. The real maximum power of such card is 100 Mhsh but at the cost of higher memory temperatures which can reduce the cards lifespan,if I were you I would just continue to mine with Nicehash or any other miner but don't change anything in the fine tuning of your cards, 40 Mhsh if we get 5 Mhsh more on average per card won't make you a millionaire.

If you want to try and see the difference I suggest you download lol miner from the official thread here, latest version and just double click "mine_eth" bat file without changing anything, test for 5 minutes with the wallet of the developer and if indeed you see a big difference in hash rate, then you can convert to lol miner and change to your wallet. There is a lot of documentation on how to do that.

For a normal RTX 3080 without the Ti I think you would be getting anything better than 92-95-100max which still depends on the type of memory your graphic card has onboard and also silicon lottery ( pure luck), you can get a few more hashrate using hiveOS and Trex but the difference won't be much, be expecting 7+ or +5 hashrate

I think it depends on what you're trying to hold.  If you were spending the BTC you got from Nicehash on buying ETH, then you'd be much better off skipping the middleman and just mining ETH (while you can).  However, I think that BTC gives you more flexibility on top of it being a better store of value, so if I were in your situation (spoiler, I am) then I would mine on Nicehash and let the BTC stack.

You can always make more money cutting out service providers, but in this case I think paying the premium to mine on Nicehash is worth it.

Nicehash, most of the time will reward you less than mining ETH directly

With Nicehash, you're renting your hashing power to another people, so it's normal to receive a bit less than mining directly
If you have 8x RTX 3080s for a year, I suggest you to try by yourself to change and mine ETH right now, I don't know why didn't you try  Cheesy

You can use Gminer, NBminer or PhoenixMiner, and for the pools you can use Ethermine or Flexpool.
If you are familiar with Polygon network, use Ethermine because it's quick to receive your payment, and you can compare with Nicehash
If you need some guidance, just ask

And another tip, you can adjust your overclock, because at least you can get 95Mhs without too much stress on your cards, but most people achieve 99 to 100Mhs  Grin

If you use nice hash, then you know the real profit per day. Try to calculate the profit using the ethereum mining calculator
https://whattomine.com/gpus/46-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080?cost=0.1&cost_currency=USD
If you like this profit more, then use other miners
Pools and instructions you will find on this site

Mining pools like 2miner, Flexpool, and Ethermine are more profitable than Nicehash when mining Eth, Nicehash is not bad too and some times Nicehash also becomes the most profitable pool but not for long, anyway we are in a bear market so getting BTC every day from Nicehash isn't bad.

Nicehash uses the same miners and the profit should be the same, but kamranki has a hashrate of 92 MH/s per card. You need to look for the reason for this or try to run the miner on another pool.Probably the problem is in the GPU overclocking settings.

OK then, I will keep mining with Nicehash. If there will be little difference between mining using Nicehash and some other platform, then I am fine using Nicehash.

The only reason why I am sticking with Nicehash is because they pay out in BTC but truth be told Nicehash pool isnt on the list of one to five pools thats profitable, the reward is very low compare to other and this is why I believe that what to mine isnt accurate as it use Nicehash as the second profitable pool which shouldn't be so.

Prohashing pays out in BTC as well, but they have a high fee of 3%

What serious miner will mine in the browser. This project has a 10-level referral system, it looks more like a pyramid scheme than proper mining
https://cryptobrowser.site/en/faq/#how-much-earn-referral-levels
It’s better to study hive OS and competitors if you want to professionally engage in mining.

Well, I didnt ask about the company or how you feel about Cryptotab.
I was hoping someone who read my question might try to answer with
nicehash is x% faster.
I am old and probably graduated comp sci before many here where born.
Again I will benchmark for myself and not bother with this forum.

Then you've probaly already heard "if you want a better answer ask a better question".
Nicehash is many things, which one are you asking about?

you can't properly benchmark nicehash

you can get an approximate estimate that varies like a mofo.

nicehash is a rental service for mining it is not a mining pool.

So if you point a rig to it and someone rents your rig you could get lucky and get a high paying renter.

Or you may get an average paying renter
top renter is paying 1.0048

Order#   -- price ------ hash--workers- hashrate
5795c8de -1.0048--0.0500-395-----0.0524

03b5aa1d--1.0047---0.0010-10-------0.0010

b2913e9f--1.0046----0.0040--37------0.0044

6de02a7a--0.9100---0.0010--4--------0.0010

5fdbaf35---0.9000---0.0010--16   ------0.0010

76830842--0.8900--0.0010---17------0.0010

a76318eb--0.8700--0.0010---13------0.0010

56c11119--0.8700--0.0010--11-------0.0010

2c47863c--0.8500--0.0010--18-------0.0010

...

96b20c65---0.8011---0.0010---9------0.0012

95efd139---0.8000---0.0010---9------0.0010

I did maybe 20 top renters.

so how do you clock nicehash against any other pool

Very long test time on nicehash and another pool

identical rigs. and at least 100 days of testing.

when you rent your rig out the renter may stick with your rig from 1 minute to 10 days no longer but up to 10 is possible.  So if I do a clock and grab a renter paying top rate for 10 days I could be 10x 1.0048 top rate

or maybe 10 days at  0.8000 lower rate. So no short test will tell you how good you do.

only a long 90 or 120 day test with 2 identical rigs one on nicehash and one on  Cryptotab.

So if you decide to do a 90 day test with two identical rigs you could get back to us and let us know.

Actually you get paid the average of all the active orders regardless of which one is serving you.

link to this please.

btw it is more fair method.

but still means you can’t fairly clock nicehash with out long time periods with two identical rigs.

many times a nut job or a fat fingered fool overpays 2x 3x even 4x the going rate. and they do it with a large rental.

so if .8 is close to correct and i do 8.0 with a large amount I can make a huge difference in payouts.

so you cant be sure clocking nicehash for how well it pays against other pools.

So if you point a rig to it and someone rents your rig you could get lucky and get a high paying renter.

Actually you get paid the average of all the active orders regardless of which one is serving you.

link to this please.

I'm too lazy to start looking, it's been a long time since I mined at Nicehash. They used to post the exact amount each algo
paid. If payouts are as you say posting the average would make no sense.

The fat finger does happen and when it does everyone gets the high payouts. On the other side when a high priced,
high hashrate, order expires (or the bots reduce the hash rate to minimum) payouts drop significantly as the hash has
to be redistributed to lower paying orders.

Since Nicehash is more like an exchange than a mining pool benchmarking doesn't really apply. The payouts are dependant on
whatever people are will to pay for hash, decoupled from the actual mining.

Arbitrage used to be possible because order prices could get out of sync with mining revenues. Sometimes Nicehash would pay
more sometimes direct mining was better. The bots changed all that because they are all progarmmed to do arbitrage automatically.
Nicehash tracks mining pools more closely now.
